:stuck_out_tongue:

I agree with the ‘preachy’ thing, and I don’t like the sound of live-action

actors on screen, either. Still, I can’t wait  - but let’s hope it’s not Happy Feet 2.

(I’m

listening to the Happy Feet soundtrack right now - can you tell?)

O…my…Gosh!!! This movie sounds absolutely amazing! My palms are wet!

Seriously! HOLY MAN!

Okay, when I thought that Wall-E would have a message

to it, I said to myself:“O great! Another Preachy movie!”. But this actually doesn’t sound to bad. I

guess I’ll be okay with it if it does so sublety.

I really didn’t enjoy

Nemo as much as other people did, so, because Stanton was directing, I actually

didn’t think to much of Wall-E. But now, I’m like EVE’s number one fan!!!

The “No Dialogue” issue also didn’t make me to happy. Now, I feel like this movie

deserves NO DIALOGUE!

As for Wall-E winning the Oscar, Wall-E will have to

face Kung Fu Panda, another highly anticipated animated film. After reading this

article, I’m pretty confident! :sunglasses:

Meg

: yes, that’s what I had in mind…

Pixar just keeps getting better and better with these things…

I am

now extremely excited to see this charming little film, to say the least. The fact that very little dialogue is

exchanged between any characters during the first third of the film already has me bouncing up and down in my

chair – I am forcefully reminded of Nick Park’s “Wallace and Gromit” short, A Grand Day Out, here.

Such flair and witty imagination rolling around in that studio! I think Stanton is about to release

another winner…

your absolutely right Mitch, it’s an

exciting time, Pixar is at the top of their game, let’s hope it stays that way

hopefully I

won’t jinx it when I join the Pixar crew :frowning:

Googly-Bear -

With a plot as good as that one (for

WALL-E), I’m pretty sure that Pixar won’t be going downhill anytime soon. And if

they do, it’ll be the biggest surprise the will have ever given us. (snigger)

Aww – don’t be down. As

long as you have a good imagination and a fun spirit, I’m sure you’ll brighten up the place a little more.

Wow, congrats,

Googly-Bear!

What is your job going to be?

what? oh, I

haven’t been hired yet ^^; I’m just a “would-be” employee. I’m hoping to become either an

animator or a writer. Right now I’m trying to get my portfolio in shape… crosses fingers heres hoping.

anyways…

Oh, well,

Good Luck anyway!

Back on topic…

I’ve

been “examining” the plot of Wall-E obsessively for the past few days, and I’ve come upon a

discovery,

I don’t think we’ll have to worry about the Happy Feet 2 prospect, because I think

Wall-E might spoof people who hide behind good causes just to gain power.

It says that the guy in

charge of the Buy’nLarge corporation, promised the now permanent couch potatoe humans that he’ll

“Clean up Earth!”. But he doesn’t really care about earth, he

just wants to gain people’s trust and praise ( trust, praise=power, control) and since the humans are very

gullible (and most likely brain dead from tv) they’ll be lead to think that the Wall-E project is still

working, even though it is all but abandoned. Perhaps by Wall-E escaping, and by showing the humans

that the guy who is running Buy’N’Large lied, they’ll wake up from their Tv watching stuper and revolt,

and start making the earth better with their own hands (metaphorically speaking)

it has the

oppurtunity to make a good (and rather bold) movie about, well, about lying to people to gain control, it

wouldn’t be dated because this kind of scenario happens all the time, and

people could interpet it in different ways, so that it applies to everyone’s current state of living.

either that, or it could simply say “GLOBAL WARMING WILL KILL US ALL!”

*Editor’s Note : Googly-Bear cares about taking care of our earth, Googly-Bear is an enviromentalist, but

Googly-Bear is still sore about the Oscars and how Pixar lost to a movie about penguins.

Of course the

environmental issue that faces us all nowadays is very, very important, and we really must do something about

what is happening to the world, but hopefully will be able to control how preachy they’re going to be when it

comes to telling the story. Of course, there will have to be some of the 'this is what will happen if we carry

on like this’ shock element, but as long as the entire film isn’t based solely on telling us what we’re all

doing wrong, and as long there are other threads in the story line, then Pixar can pull it off.

couldn’t

agree more

Googly-Bear - Interesting

speculation. You know what it reminds me of? Star Wars, Episode III: Revenge of the

Sith – Chancelor Palpatine/The Emperor deceiving his people to gain control over the universe.

Slightly different story and concept, but there you have it. (heh)

Pixar Animation Studios is not known

to be a preachy-type corporation; at least, to me it hasn’t. They include their basic messages of course (stand

up to your opinions; stop and smell the roses once in a while; stick together as a family; etc…), but they

don’t go overboard. I don’t think we’ll have any problems with WALL-E conveying

the environmental message so strongly that it shoves the reality of it in the audience’s face, but you never

know…

I, for one, love environmental messages to an extent – this is one reason why I absolutely

adore Happy Feet. (Some people say that that film

pushed its point too far, but I didn’t really notice.) If WALL-E is produced by the

Pixar Animation Studios I’m thinking of, we won’t have a problem.

Oh yeah!! XD I just can’t get away from Star Wars, can’t I?

but anyways…

the

messages Pixar sends I like, because they aren’t shoved down one’s throat, they are very gently slipped

in. And Like I said before, I want to take care of the enviroment (I used to work at an aquarium, we’d pick

up the trash along the beach) I just don’t want them going over board.

Right. My guess is that this film won’t really have

a message…more of just a passing note kinda thing. Like "The Earth has been destroyed by humans, but

we’re not going to tell you it’s your fault"

…I like that kind!

exactly… I hope they

just stick with the storyline of the characters, and not get side-tracked with a message, which was, for me,

the downfall of Happy Feet, which was an otherwise cute and fun movie.

Isn’t it pretty obvious, though, that every pixar movie does have a message- it’s just not so much social as personal. Having met a few of the guys, I can tell you that they are not interested in meaningless “funny” or even meaningless “fun.” Think of their movies more as well thought out children’s books (ie not Barenstain Bears) with deeper plots, more detailed drawings, and long-thought-out hearts.

With that in mind, I have some whispers from someone that gives much more clue about the substance of the movie. Spoke with someone who is related to a disney-side worker that has details. I’m not going to say more, because I certainly don’t want to hurt them based on their NDA on the film. If this information has already been posted, apologies… I just don’t have time to read 8 pages of random comments.

There are multiple robots. They do not speak english, or if they do, very little english. They will speak a language that is designed by the same person responsible for Star Wars’ C3PO’s language. Apparently there will be very little human language at all.

That’s the info I’ve gotten, and it makes sense considering WALL-E’s eyeing the stars.

I’m excited about this one because, since the film is about robots, it gives the folks at Pixar a chance to go all-out when it comes to high-end graphics and realism. In most of the previous films, the amount of detail and cartoon-vs-real balance has been determined by how appropriate realism would be with the plot and characters. For instance, the images in Nemo were greatly simplified and cartoonified simply to make it a visually accessible film. They COULD have made it all but indistinguishable from reality. But with robots, and as the preview already illustrates, there is a very high degree of detailed realism happening in this film. It’s going to be awesome.

someguy- yeah it will be awesome, by the way welcome to pixar planet!!

top notch post my friend, reading your post makes me hyped for the movie.

And yes, you are right, they do have a message, but like you said, it’s more of a personal message, and not so much of a social message. I love Pixar because they are able to weave a message into their movie gently and make it all fit. I dislike movies that break up the plot of the main character to address social issues that will go out of style in the next ten years.

Perhaps it’s just a matter of taste, but Pixar movies will be timeless because of their personal messages.

[b[someguy - Thanks for the info - always good to get some new clarity - especially the part about multiple robots. By C3PO though did you mean R2D2? C3PO did speak English in Star Wars.

Thanks again and welcome to Pixar Planet! =)
