It’s ok Heimlich, anyways why don’t we talk about what we DID like from the commercial, like the fact that Buzz and Woody had a cameo and stuff.
I did like the fact that they had a cameo, but I have to admit, it did detract from Wall-E itself. But on the other hand, they managed to plug two of their upcoming films in one advert, and I guess Buzz and Woody being in it made it all the more memorable.
…and easier to market to the older, the majority, of Super Bowl viewers.
LOL, that was too cute! ![]()
Victor Navone writes: We also have automation that rotates the treads and wheels the proper amount as he travels.
So it seems they developed a whole new code to make the wheel move automatically for WALL-E, that’s cool.
Right on! I can. Not. Believe. how cute he is. Period. Whether it’s those gurgling sounds he makes or the gestures of shock or his pet roach or his outgoing personality that truies to be helpful and always messes up (from both trailers) or his naivete or the way he looks at the audience and tries to fix things and hopes no one will notice… And his voice chills
Any ideas on why, exactly, he distils the essence of cute?
Although I do believe that he is cute, I showed my father the WALL•E poster with WALL•E on a white background, and he said, exact quote here, “That’s the ugliest robot I’ve ever seen.”
<img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/youwhaaa.gif" alt="o_0;;" title="You <p>Whaaa…" /></p>I think it’s one of the fundamental laws of the universe: anything with big, childlike eyes will be considered cute. Of course, it also helps that he has that curiosity and general misunderstanding of how our world works. Just watch him play with the paddleball and bra.
Yup, KE is right- it’s all to do with ensuring that parents continue to look after their children- despite all of the crying and the feeding the general effort involved in looking after a baby, parents always think it’s worth it when they look at the child and feel a positive reaction. It’s the only reason why babies smile- to ensure the continual care by their parents.
Wall-E just has one of those kinds of personalities, which is a real achievement by Pixar since he is, essentially, a hunk of metal. Only Pixar could characterise something as apparently devoid of ‘human-ness’ as Wall-E. ![]()
