Well It's True: Some People Actually Didn't Like Ratatouille

There are a lot of bad reviews, but I won’t bother posting the links. Two summaries made me lose my head though:

“Pixar’s weakest film in almost a decade.” - Dustin Putman

“Has Pixar lost its magic recipe? Ratatouille is filled with fairly generic animated imagery, a few modest chases, a couple of good gags, not a lot of laughs.” - Roger Moore

Seriously, that Roger Moore just makes me so mad. So pixar wanted to make a not-so-funny movie with a great storyline. So what? It sucks because it is not funny? Pixar Movies = Laughs? I don’t think so.

Sorry. I just had to share this

We all must remember that reviews are just opinions. Although you are right, there are some people who didn’t like the movie, we have to look at the good side. There will always be more lovers of Ratatouille than haters.

Of course there are always those people who dislike a film because of WHO made it, or how it’s target was selected.
Heck, some people review films bad because they want to. As the most popular movies attract naysayers merely BECAUSE they want to oppose people to stir something.

I think Anton Ego said it best…

You know, with animation, you can never make all the critics happy. Dreamworks and gang have always had a much different view than Pixar on how to make an animated feature…and some critics like one way, some the other. Ratatouille was an awesome film - most critics agree, but there are going to be those critics who go for the Shark Tale kind of fare. :unamused:

Heh. Interesting. He WAS referring to critiques in general and not just food ones…

Well critics have their own opinions and like anton ego may get in over their heads (like these guys who sya ratatouille is horrable)

Well, just be happy that those critics are in the minority. And it’s sad, but sometimes critics just say that hate a really good movie like Ratatouille, just to get some attention and publicity for themselves. Quite pathetic.

Like I said.
Agreed, it is pathetic.

They can say what they want! Ratatouille absolutly rocks …period.

I agree that the critics’ opinion is just that- an opinion- but I’m not going to get angry about it, to be honest. If it is honestly their opinion, then they have a right to say it, just as we all have a right to say how much we love the film.

But if the critic is doing it for publicity or other reasons, then it IS pathetic. And it’s also sort of pointless, because whoever goes to see Ratatouille for themselves will have their own opinion, regardless of what the critics say.

That’s true, but as you said in the second paragraph there ARE the “fake-opinionators” and people referring to a film in a negative light because they want to, not because they actually tried to get or care what they were watching.

Amen.

If the critics are simply doing it for their own publicity rights and choose to ignore the real fact of the matter (which is that Ratatouille is, indeed, an unbelieveably fantastic little production), then they are sorely mistaken and have undermined a truely beautiful work of art.

Of course, as previously stated, everyone does have their own opinions on various matters, and those views should be respected and (sometimes) taken into consideration. In this case, however, I shall choose to ignore oppressive reviews and will focus instead upon the positive aspects, and that is the mere fact that a good majority of audiences find this film to be a golden jewel for the ages…

Oh well. At least we have the comfort of knowing that we’re right. Ratatouille will live on because it is a wonderful film, and it deserves to be recognized instead of shunned. Like Ego said:

[spoil]But the bitter truth we critics must face…is that, in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating itself.[/spoil]

I wonder what the true critics thought about that when they heard it? They probably didn’t want to admit the truth…

– Mitch

That…or they didn’t get what he was saying heh.

Nexas - Ha! Yeah, that’d be funny if they were that daft.

Well I’m sure there’s no other Grim Eaters out there heh.

I actually read a review that was mad because the movie [spoil]“dealt with inappropriate themes such as illegitimate children” [/spoil]which the reviewer considered “offensive” even though he admitted that it was “lightly touched upon”! For Heaven’s sake, what age are we living in? And didn’t anyone ever tell this guy that when it comes to art, it’s your critical duty to leave your personal morality at the door?

Can I use that??? The Dash, likes! =)

The Sarah is honoured! Of course you can use it. I wish more people would. Spread the word, baby!

-I got to thinking about this actually when DOCTORS started saying “Oh noes! We can’t prescribe the Morning After Pill because it’s IMMORAL!!1!” There was an article on MSN.com, no less, about this - I can’t find it now, but I found two follow-up ones if you’re interested:

health.msn.com/healthnews/articl … 6&GT1=9033
This one deals with pharmacists:

I think it’s just professional ethics that you leave your morals at the door - or quit your job. None of this “I’m not translating this because it blasphemes the Lord” nonsense.

Yep - and if you still can’t reconcile, specialize in something that prevents you from having to fulfil that task.
