I love both the ideas of a 2D version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Oliver Twist (though I only recently realised that Oliver & Company was an animal version of Oliver Twist. How I missed that, I don’t know ). Though, yes, you’re right, bright dot-dasher, Disney might make it a bit too light-hearted and that would lessen the impact of the point it makes which would be a shame. But it would be cool if they could pull it off.
I don’t know why, but I’ve always liked the idea of an animated version of The Picture of Dorian Gray, though, once again, I’m not too sure whether that would be a bit dark for Disney to do.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the The Wizard of Oz (1939). In honor of this, the film was released for the first time in HD a few days ago. Now, that got me thinking; I would like to see Disney do their adaptation of the classic in 2-D animation.
That wouldn’t be too good, though. I love those comics and I hate to see a Disneyfied version of the comics. I found out that Paramount and Nickelodeon had the rights to the film and was going to make it more towards children and have pop songs, from artists like *NSYNC and Britney Spears. Thank God, that Smith axed that idea and is going to the company that helped make that dark Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film! I have a feeling it’ll be pretty good!
I have an idea that might work for a Disney animated film - Magic Treehouse! I used to read those books when I was younger, and I really think Disney could do a good job on it considering the adventures those two kids went through. As long as it’s in the traditionally-animated form, not CGI (unless if Pixar was involved).
I’ve had this idea for years, and it is more of a joke than anything else, but I think it could be possible. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Fantasia, I think they should do a third installment, called Fantasia 2040.
Fantasia 2000 came out sixty years after the original film, so this makes the years fit nicely.
Again, it’s a joke more than anything, but why couldn’t they pull this off?
I can’t think of any new ones I’d like them to do, but weren’t they going to make a movie called The Snow Queen? It got shelved, I’m pretty sure, but I was looking forward to that one the most. It looked really interesting.
Oh, yeah, I nearly forgot about that. Yeah, the concept art was interesting, and it is a neat fairy tale. I would of liked to have known how much the movie would stay true to the original fairy tale.
I want to see Disney tackle a Japanese fairy tale, more specifically The Tale of Princess Kaguya (though it’s also called The Bamboo Princess). It’s a really old but famous Japanese folktale involving a childless bamboo cutter who comes across a shining bamboo tree, and finds a baby princess inside of it (even though the ending is kind of tragic).
But still, it would be SO COOL if Disney decided to tackle that, not to mention it would give their princess line a lot of diversity. So far we’ve had princesses from other countries and nationalities, like Belle (French), Jasmine (Arabian), Mulan (Chinese), Pocahontas (Native American), Tiana (African American), so why not give the Japanese culture a try in one of their films? It would be really neat and fascinating, and I’d love to see how Alan Menken would interpret and compose old Japanese music in his style.
That would be really interesting to have a Japanese princess, especially since Japanese culture is really popular!
I personally want to see a Latino and/or Hispanic princess before a Japanese one, since there already is an Asian princess. Plus there are so many roads you go with a Latina princess! A movie set in Spain, Brazil, Portugal, South America, Centeral America, Mexico.
I personally LOVE California history. I think it would be neat if there was a Disney movie about a Spanish princess in early California history. A Disney movie set in the Spanish Colonial period or during the Conquest of California. That would be interesting!
After reading Cyrano de Bergerac, I thought it would make a great Disney film. Lots of laughs and romance in it, though the fifth and final act is too tragic. I’ve always felt it was out of place, though, so a different ending would probably be a better ending.
If they payed me royalties, I’d let them do this story I wrote, and then I’m currently working on a sequel. It’s hard to explain what it’s about, but it’s good.
Am I just crazy, or would anyone like a (toned-down, Disney-fied) Frankenstein? I saw an amazing adaptation, the Kenneth Branagh production, and it made me think a more child appropriate cartoon would be good. Like what they did with The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tarzan, Hercules, etc.
