Sally Jonson: The extended addition is the one I have, it has the Cheetah Girls doing a cover of Route 66 and Drew Seeley doing a cover of Find Yourself. Yeah, like that’s what the Cars fans want. We need that song that plays when Doc goes around Willy’s Butte! (Yeah, it’s not there . . . )
I would be all over that, I SO want one! XD But really, they should go for it, it would be so awesome.
And yeah, the Art of Up is a spectacular book, I highly recommend it.
Any Pixar Blu-ray except for “Cars” (which I already have) would definitely look nice under my Christmas tree.
I also wouldn’t say no to the ultimate editions of the first two Harry Potter films, or “Twilight Princess”, now that I have finally beaten “The Wind Waker”.
Although the ultimate (impossible) present would of course be a soundtrack CD of “Up”.
I really want the UP Deluxe Edition DVD, some computer games, and a gift card to any bookstore. Also, I’d like a Blu-Ray player, but that’s a pretty doubtful thought. I could also use a signed copy of Twilight to go with my signed Bone books.
I would really want a psp to play Birth By Sleep when it comes out but I don’t know if that’s gonna happen,…
other than that I would like the Princess and the Frog snowglobe from the Disney Store, Sony Vegas movie studio 9, and this really cool leatherbound book with all 7 of the Narnia stories
I was entertaining either a new laptop (cos’ my three-year-old 2006 Macbook Pro can’t handle the newer edition of Maya, or the newer games with Windows XP as boot camp), a PSP (cos’ I always has to ask my bro to download the Pixar games I want onto his machine, so I considered getting my own), or a PS3 (to play MGS4, Uncharted, and Blu-Rays).
In the end, I decided to ask my parents for a new laptop, since I figured I could still leech of my bro for his PSP and that I could ask for a Blu-Ray drive to be included on the laptop instead of using the PS3. So we went down to SITEX last weekend (which is like an annual tech fair, sort of like Cyber Monday in Singapore). I bought a Dell Studio 15 with Full 1080p HD resolution and a Blu-Ray/DVD combo drive, 4 GB Ram, 500 GB Capacity. And it comes with Windows 7!
I didn’t go with another Mac this time cos they still don’t have Full HD resolution, a HDMI port or a Blu-Ray drive, and are seriously overpriced. I was also considering the XPS 16 with its 1 GB Graphics Card, and 16-inch screen, but I’d have to fork out a few hundred more, so I went with the cheaper Studio line. It’s a lime-green colour (cos black and white is too predictable), and it looks pretty fat and bulky, but specs-wise, it’s pretty top-notch.
I’m so happy and thankful (my parents said this is the second and last laptop they’re getting for me, next one’s from your own dough! ), it’s a preorder since Dell does online orders, so I’ll only receive it in a few days time, latest by December 18. But I can’t wait, it’s gonna be sweet!
The only other gift I think I’ll get is a mousepad, since I never had one for three years now (I purchased the Razer Krait beginning this year, and it’s a pity I can’t use it on glass surfaces! ). Probably make it Pixar/movie-related.
Sally Johnson: I second LightningandDoc, The Art of Cars is just seriously awesome, I always borrow a copy of it from the public libraries every time I return to Singapore!
Nice choice, thedriveintheatre! Ditto on choosing a PC over a Mac condsidering the lack of a Blu-ray drive and high def, it’s the reason why I chose my new Vaio instead of being tempted by a shiny white Apple. And you’re getting your new laptop just before Christmas! Perfect timing.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what to buy a cat for Christmas? I always feel bad leaving her out, even though she obviously doesn’t understand why suddenly there’s a glowing tree in the living room and lights hanging up everywhere.
I usually say three things when it comes to Christmas wishlists.
- Incredibles stuff
- money
- nothing, I’m happy.
But now, I still wish for the first two things. But also add to the list a device where you can play your ipod in your car, or a Tv. But if I don’t get it, then I’m cool with it.
How 'bout a bed? Cat’s love to lounge around, and maybe a cute, comfortable bed with a few toys in it?
i was gonna ask santa if i could have a special present this year, but then i realized he probably cant get it for me
Why? What is it, Spunk Ransom? You can tell us!
i wanted my best friend to come visit me but i dont think she can i havent talked to her in foreverrr
Awww… Spunk Ransom, I’m sorry. I don’t think he can. Maybe you can get in touch with your friend.
I’m asking for the Toy Story Collection Woody and Buzz. Also for some non Pixar related things.
Those were actually my main criteria for my new laptop, lizardgirl. As much as I love Mac and its intuitive (not to mention beautiful) OS, the fact that they didn’t include a HDMI connector (still same old VGA), still had the same maximum resolution as my 2006 model (1440x900 compared to the Dell’s 1920x1080), and an absence of Blu-Ray drive with the new lineup, coupled with the fact that the battery can’t be replaced (thanks to the unibody design) put me off from being a repeat customer. Macs are pretty difficult to upgrade on your own too, so it’s not exactly future-proof, and there’s the 30 GB limit on Windows for Boot Camp. I was also a bit curious about Windows 7, so I figured this is as good a time to give it a shot as any. I still have Apple love, and will probably buy a future model once they offer better specs and a more competitive price, but I think I’ve already supported Mr Jobs enough after getting the Leopard upgrade last year, an iPod Classic this year, and supporting Pixar’s films in cinemas since '06.
Even after getting the Dell, I’ll still continue using my trusty old MBPro for iMovie editing and other Mac-specific applications. Still waiting for it, they make the parts on a JIT (Just In Time) basis, so it’s probably still sitting half-completed in a plant somewhere. For me, though, Christmas still comes early!
BTW, what Vaio model are you getting, lizardgirl? As for your cat, some catnips wouldn’t hurt, I guess.
Aw, that’s a sweet idea, Sally Jonson. I might just have to do that- maybe then she’ll stop sleeping on my bed and waking me up in the middle of the night!
thedriveintheatre- I’ve never had an Apple Mac, not because I don’t like them, but because they are very expensive and also I’m not someone who does video editing or digital art on their computer, so a lot of the stuff Macs are known for, I wouldn’t use anyway! So it’s always made sense to go for a PC.
I’ve now got a Vaio that’s in the NW series, I think. It’s a 15.6 inch screen if that whittles it down. I love it to pieces- aside from the great specs, even the build quality is so much better than my old Packard Bell.
And my cat is silly and doesn’t like catnip, but thanks for the suggestion anyway.
Let’s see, money is always a good thing, since I still dont have a cash flow right now. I need a new portable DVD player, because mine doesnt work anymore. I’d love a laptop almost more than anything. Oh yeah and I’d love to get Spock & Dr McCoy. Or, if getting them both is a problem, I’ll just take Spock
Well, I mostly know already what I’m gonna get…
Pixar-related:
Up DVD
Plush Kevin
I was supposed to get the Art of Up too but I already bought it myself.
Non-Pixar related:
A book and a few action figures of my favourite comic series (Bone).
But I think I’m getting some other stuff too… I dunno…
