What does your name MEAN...

I’d rather not give out my name either, but heres a hint It’s kinda a color and It’s something that forms on trees. However I do intensely hate my name!I like Vanessa better… :sunglasses:

Thanks. I used to hate my name, but I have grown to appriciate it. I am just not a fan of the meaning!

Thankyou very muchly, lizardgirl! I’m flattered you like my name. I often get annoyed when people sometimes pronounce it wrong. I get fed up of people saying my last name wrong, let alone my first. Oh well, I don’t wanna change it, I like it just the way it is

Ami- Yeah, I know how that feels. My first name may be common (too common!) but the mispronounciation of my surname always irritates me. But exactly, your name is a personal thing and even if people don’t always pronounce it correctly, it’s still worth keeping a hold of it.

It is said that names reflect your characteristics. So far I knew, it’s 100% true.

Haha I like yours, Chef

Esmedes is a homage to my very first Pixar fan characters, Esmeralda and Archimedes. I’m gradually telling you guys that Manny and Gypsy are my favorite characters/couple in Pixar before throwing it at you. Anyway, immediately after seeing A Bug’s Life on my way to a camp my fifth grade class went to, I created their twin son and daughter, who were a moth/mantis mix twitch. They were swordfighters in the circus and Esmeralda was usually the main character of my “fan fictions”. And I STILL have one of my pictures of her [url]Bat-Snake - Hobbyist, General Artist | DeviantArt (Pretty good for my fifth-grade days:/ )

Recently, I decided to change them completely. Archimedes is a baby moth caterpillar that Manny and Gypsy adopt, and becomes Manny’s apprentice as well (I tried to draw him wearing Mickey’s “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” hat and didn’t do to well XD ). Esmeralda might be changed entirely, maybe to a dragonfly or something.

Though I squick at my original creations, I’m still fond of them, and when I had trouble logging in as “Bat-Snake”, my usual forum name, I decided to use my very first two Pixar characters as a homage.

Awesome.

My name’s Olivia (obviously points to username), it’s Latin, Female, and it means Olive Tree. I love my name but ‘olive tree’?..ooookay then. The middle name’s Rose, it’s also Latin and female, and it means ‘of the rose blossom.’ Why is it that all of my names have something to do with plants…?

Fun fact: Besides myself, I know 2 other people within 3 years of my age with the name ‘Olivia Rose.’ Apparently it’s a very popular name around my town.

Well, olive trees are pretty, and very important to the Greeks, so I like your name

Olivia is such a beautiful name to me IMO. In fact, in my religion, olive tree (and olives, duh) is one of Prophet Muhammad’s favorite food > olive oil.

 You have a lovely name.

Awww, thank you guys. I’ll admit, I adore my name too. Guess I should thank my parents, huh?

All you guys have some pretty awesome names too! Name meanings have always interested me for some reason, so this thread is quite fun to read through.

Yeah, totally agree. Because we uncover the secret side of our life.

I checked it up, and apparently, Renée means ‘born again’. Oh, and it’s the French and feminine version of René.

Hah. I can’t even speak French to save my life. xD

Mandana (my first name) - which actually means everlasting, and it’s also the name of a really famous persian Queen.

And yeah it’s a persian name. I’m a persian myself, lol. :X

Hm. As for my real name, Katherine, is derived from the Greek/Roman name Catherine (As the “K” was not invented), which meant “Purity”. Usually I’m called Katie everywhere but school XD

My name is Wessel… but the meaning of my name makes no sense at all. :stuck_out_tongue:

“Protector of the army”

Why would the army need protection in the first place, they’re the ones protecting their nation! Or is there a secret society of soldiers named the Wessels that take care of our army and their safety? Am I going to be taken away from home in a few years for ‘army protecting’ duty?

Ya… Okay.

Maaaaybe you protect they army’s secrets?

That must be a very scary thing to do :open_mouth:

Aryeh- Hebrew for lion.

Chicken Man- Gibberish for really really sexy.
