I’m wicked sorry
if this is in the wrong topic , but Mitch gave me an idea for this post .
If you could pick a job to take
in pixar , what would you pick and why ?
I would probably pick storyboard , since i like drawing , but
i’m not that good on the computer , and i can act a boit , which is what the storyboarders have to do when they
present a part of the movie .
So , what would you pick ?
Me, my first choice would be voice acting. I would love
to do a major/minor/supporting/backround role in any Pixar film. If not, I would be happy to direct one. Or
possibly write a story for the Pixar people to make into a great animated film. No animating/drawing for me
please.
I would like acting too , but i’m not THAT good , or
maybe I am , and I could probably do it since pixar doesn’t make their characters sing unless it’s at the end
for bloopers .

FILM COMPOSER!!
…
ahem
That, or maybe voice acting. runs off
Oh my gosh! I forgot singing in my choices. I
would love to sing a song for a film. Singing and acting have been my life/passion ever since I was in elementary
school.
I would also love to create what the characters really look like . You know , the simple characteristics ,
like Dory’s frekles or mater’s one headlight .
But there are so many choices !
GLP: Agreed. I said this before in a post. Getting
any job at Pixar is a blessing.
Even the toilet scrubber ! Besides ,
there’s only one bathroom , if i’m correct . or there’s a bunch but there all on the same side .

Straight up animator!
For those who want to do voice work, only, that’s done
thru the Big D. For a minor role you would have to be a Pixar employee for somethin else and ask for a cameo.

[b]I want to be a lot of what GLP and TSS want to do for Pixar. I would love to
voice a character for Pixar any time. I would be really happy to be able to direct a Pixar film. I would also
love to create what the characters look like because it?s what everybody sees on the big screen and it would be
awesome to see what the character looks like before anybody else.

Ohh…gosh, this is a hard
question… (heheh)
Well, I suppose I would choose one of these three options, if I had the chance:
1) Storyboard Artist - Since my dad has been in
the animation business for years – working mainly as an animator and a storyboard artist – , I have learned a
lot about this profession. However, I am not at all as skilled at drawing as he is. But again, it does look like
a fun job to have. If I could draw effectively, I’d take it.
2) Voice Actor - I am horrible at doing
voices…compared to my sister, who is a miracle voice actor.
Then again, I love to do voices just as much as
she does, so…if we were both doing voices together…it would be like a dream come true.
3) Character Designer - How much fun would it
be to design characters – characters that would eventually shine in the final presentation? You could look up at
the screen and say, “See him? I (helped to) create that character!”
Badda bing – badda boom.

I say we all pick a job and hand in our resumes at the exact same time! We’ll be a
team!

at the moment I really want
to go into modeling or lighting or rigging (setting up the characters for animation)… or set dressing (that
would be so cool) <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/love2.gif” alt=“:loves:” title="In
Love" />
I cant wait til i have my show reel ready 'cause its going straight to
pixar
Mitch took the words right out of my mouth.
I’d like to add animator to my
career wishlist, but my experience with animation is poor. I blame YSU for having a poor animation department.
I also blame myself for sticking with YSU for too long. LOL
That’s why my main interest for the past
year has been in character design and storyboarding.

You’re welcome.
(snigger)
I can’t imagine your animation being poor –
your artistic skills are fabulous! At least you can animate; I can’t even do that.
[color=indigo:3qh1xe6l]Well thank you, Mitch.
But when a college uses Flash to teach 2D animation and then loses its only 3D professor, you don’t
get anywhere you hoped to. ![Bemused :-\]()

STORYBOARD ARTIST!!! (or Director)
I know that my
‘destiny’ in my life (man, that sounds so epic
) is telling stories. Maybe as an author (I wrote a fantasy
novel and I’m going to publish it on demand), as a filmmaker or as a storyboard artist/director!
But,
you know, I’m not that good at drawing… That might sound if I’m just a pixar
freak who believes in the unbelievable… But I’m so interested to discuss story ideas. I discovered that on
working on my book, when I discussed it with my editors.
I really wanna be in that room, pointing at these
storyboards and presenting all the guys my story ideas…
So, I’ll wait, cause I still have 4 years of
school to do. And minds can change very, very easily in 4 years… So I’ll see what I think in 4
years…
BTW: We should do our very own animated movie!! We have almost every position!!

PS: Doesn’t need Pixar an Austrian guy?

Nice question…
I wouldn’t do anything with the actual computer animation,
since I have no experience concerning that kind of thing at all, and although I do draw and paint in my spare
time, it’s not one of my talents, so to speak. I would happily be a storyboard designer, or possibly a 'team
motivator’ (I saw this position advertised on the Pixar website a while ago).

PixarVixen - Ahh…I see what you mean now. Yes, it is
kind of disappointing, isn’t it?
And you’re welcome.
Groaning -
Yep – just use what you will always have: your talents. They will get you far, they will. I also love to write
stories of my own, so I (sort of) know how you feel there…
Hey yeah, that would be a cool idea! To bad
that some of us – like me – can’t animate. (snigger)
lizardgirl - Oh yes,
I remember that job position, as well. “Team Motivator” – most interesting. It sounds like one of the
easiest jobs at Pixar…
Careful. Some jobs may seem easy, (maybe even fun). But you can never tell. I always
thought being a voice actor would always be easy. It turns out, one must go to extreme lengths just to get the
voice correct. I know because of the Incredibles commentary and what I do at my school.
