What's on your mind? (Status Updates)

Wow,l sounds like fun, EJE!!

Wishing December 29 comes already. I am eating in a restaurant with my friends
<3 <3

Most strange Christmas of my life? Today the Christmas tree had no presents (i bought the presents myself though), and yesterday i think i had the worst dinner ever (Oh come on, who eats potato chips, rice and eggs on Christmas Eve?)

Has anyone noticed how Pixar characters blink sometimes? It seems to be in the first few films and not so much afterwards. They slowly blink, most often during a serious moment, but their eyes don’t close at the same time. I’ve always thought that was interesting but strange.

queen_of_painting, I’ve noticed that, too! It’s most prominent in the original Toy Story, I think.

Yep, it’s mainly in the first couple of films but then it kind of died out…I did see a bit of it in Toy Story 3, though.

Yep, a special trait of Lasseters, Interestingly enough he used it only for his early shorts and Toy Story. (And I think a bug’s life as well)

Well today was an awesome Christmas. I think my little brother enjoyed it the most. He got a PS3 and three (count them, three) San Francisco Giants World Series Champion T-shirts, an item that every boy in the Bay Area probably asked for Christmas.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

My Christmas was great! I’m at my grandma’s until Monday.
I woke up, waited half an hour until my sister got up, then opened presents. I didn’t get any big presents this year, so no XBox like I’d hoped. :stuck_out_tongue: My best present is a compact sewing machine that was my Santa gift.
After presents and breakfast, my dad, sister and I walked the dogs. Then around 2, my cousins came over and everyone helped make Christmas dinner. The kids were in charge of fruit salad, my sister nearly cut off her thumb slicing a cherry.

Then came more presents from my cousins, and now we’re having our annual “jam session”. Everyone sings and plays instruments, except for me.

I love Christmas!

I’m glad that you had a fantastic Christmas rock-itpop! It sounds like you had great time with your family, Merry Christmas!

I got a chock-ton of stuff for Christmas! :open_mouth: Including a book on James and the Giant Peach that hasn’t been published since 1996 that I really wasn’t expecting to get! We also got the Toy Story 3 DVD and all watched it together with Grandma, but it was kind of infuriating how she kept talking through the movie. I could hear people in the room crying, especially during the final scene  Mom was going to show my grandparents footage of my piano recital, which is pretty embarrassing, so I ran upstairs to play PaRappa the Rapper to drown out the sound. xD

That sounds awesome Leirin, I’m happy to hear you had a great Christmas. Oh, and I like your new avatar!

I finally found my small collection of animation books! They turned out to be in a box with my dad’s encyclopedias in the warehouse where he works. I haven’t seen these babies in 5 years.

I finally upgraded my 14-year-old computer that I’ve been using for the past four years to my mom’s (she just got a new one for Christmas). It’s pretty weird, but I’m glad for all the benefits that come with it, like longer life

Had fun showing my mom le ropes on how to play Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. It was alot of fun, and I’m not surprised that she loves that game so much… it’s definitely her type of game. xDD

Neato, what type of books were there?

I went to starbucks today, it was nice because Ihad a gift card that i got for Christmas.

Just finished watching the Doctor Who Christmas Special. Definitely the best one of the new series so far. I can’t wait until the new series begins in April. Neil Gaiman wrote an episode!

My favorite thing to get from Starbucks is their peppermint hot chocolate. Yum!

The books were all animation-related: Animator’s Survival Kit, The Art of Howl’s Moving Castle, Treasures of Disney Animation Art (HUGE book, but I also own a palm-sized version), The Art of Walt Disney, The Animated Movie Guide, Disney A to Z encyclopedia, and Who’s Who in Animated Cartoons. I predict my book collection will boom over the next year, though. I have a list of several dozen books I plan to buy.

I’m going through the Richard WIlliams book right now. What a fantastic read! His writing is just meh, and I’ve found some errors here and there, but what he’s saying is really what fascinates me: Anyone can learn at any age. I’m 20 years old and I beat myself up for not having perfected my drafting skills, but I’m actually doing okay. I haven’t done much life drawing in my life, but if I went to my art department’s free drawing sessions held twice a week and cracked open a new sketchbook, I don’t doubt for a second that I could be at a MUCH higher level a year from now (maybe even comparable to Williams’ work). Just after a single session with a pencil, I was surprised by what I was capable of. Now animation, that’s a different story. It’s still like a whole 'nother language to me.

q_o_p: My friend got the peppermint hot chocolate! And that’s a really nice collection, I’ve been meaning to check out the Disney A-Z book.

I’m leaving right now to go to the movies and lunch with my Grandma and sister.

What’s on my mind right now, you ask…?

I don’t know why, but I feel that my posts are just falling flat. My thoughts are becoming disconnected and loose, and sometimes I just feel like not posting anything if it’s gonna be pointless and just plain annoying. Same thing’s been going on with my dA journals.

Sorry about the ranting. Just felt that I had to get this off my chest. :frowning:

^ I kinda know how you feel, JSWeC. I really don’t feel as connected and tightly-knit with the community in the way that I used to, and I feel like my posts these days are uninteresting, irrelevant, or that no one hears me talking in general. I was so connected with the “older” members of PP, who rarely ever show their faces anymore, and I just haven’t been able to make solid relationships with any of the new members. I miss a lot of the old members and it really feels pointless to come here some days. I haven’t taken part of any discussion lately because none of it’s really interested me all that much. :frowning:

So I don’t know if it’s me being antisocial and shying away, or maybe people think I’m a loud-mouthed jerk, or what. ._____.

little chef

I honestly hate the feeling of no one listening to me. It makes me feel unimportant, like little chef and JSWeC were saying.

On a different subject entirely, I’m gonna go play Kirby’s Epic Yarn with mah sis. I guess she likes having me there so I can tell her the levels that are fun to play, so she doesn’t get stuck with the harder, not-so-fun ones. :stuck_out_tongue:
