I’ve been wanting to make my dinner for my family once a week, but I’ve been to busy with school to do so yet! I have a large list of recipes to make, and Feijoda is on the list! Another Brazilian classic I want to make is Brigadeiros! Let us know how your Feijoda turns out!
I got my drivers license! I only had one error, and that was dealing with bike lanes (the town where I took the test has them, while the town I live in doesn’t) Besides that, I did perfecto!
I’ve already made posts about how lame my day was, so I’ll talk about something more positive. My mom’s cousin works for Lucasfilm Studios in San Francisco. He’s gay, and was interviewed for the “It Gets Better” video (Pixar made one) that Lucasfilm is doing. Exciting stuff!
EJE: Congrats on your driving test! Lemme know how your Brazilian concoctions turn out.
And what is this “It Gets Better” video, and what does that have to do with your uncle’s sexuality, Pixar and Lucasarts?
…
Right now, I’m thinking of an article submission for my magazine due tomorrow, my plans to see Rio next week, and the epic Fast Five Trailer 2.
Neeummm… “Breaking into a police station”, Dwayne Rock Johnson, ohmygod freakin’ Dodge Charger, big-*ss explosions, big-*ss gunfights, big-*ss *sses… “Mission Impossible to Mission Insanity”… oh yeah, Rio Rio Rio de Janerio! Neeummm…
It Gets Better videos are made by the Trevor Project. The videos interview famous people or people at famous places and talk to homosexual workers about the strife that they went through, and how “It Gets better” (the project is aimed at curbing the teenage homosexual suicide rate).
Anyway, Pixar has made one. So has google and a few others. Lucasfilm is currently making one, and was filming today. My cousin was interviewed for the video. He doesn’t work in the film part of Lucasfilm. He’s in charge of human resources or grounds or something.
I have family and friends who are homosexual and dealt with a lot of horrible things in their lives, and I have nothing but respect for The Trevor Project.
Pretty nice day so far Church in an hour. Unexpectedly, my aunt came over this morning to take us to IHOP for lunch, she may be coming with us to church, as well.
Writing a story titled “Cadmon Baneson and the B-Bounty Hunters!!!” (I know, the title sounds nonsensical ). It’s supposed to be based on the “Hostage Crisis” episode of The Clone Wars.
Thanks EJE and IV for the explanation of ‘It Gets Better’.
Right now, I’m thinking: I didn’t know there were so many gay people in Pixar! And is Darla Anderson homosexual?
I may be a straight guy, but I was very touched by the video. It hurts me how some people can be prejudiced and hateful towards others. We don’t necessarily have to approve of their sexuality (just like I roll my eyes when people tell me they like Twilight), but that doesn’t mean we have to hate them. We don’t necessarily need to accept their lifestyle, but we can certainly understand them. Heck, I wish there was a better word than ‘tolerance’, but you get my drift.
The Pixarian at 5:35 being on the verge of tears really was heartbreaking.
My mum, I’m sorry to say, is homophobic. We have family friend who has a gay daughter, and she doesn’t allow us to mix with their family because she’s scared that her ‘gayness’ will rub off on us or she’ll influence us in some way. She also dislikes a relative of ours because she’s a Christian evangelist, and while I’m kinda annoyed by how this relative of mine only likes to talk about her religion to us, I still love her because she is a kind and caring person, and because she’s our family. Her intolerance sometimes hurts me because she doesn’t believe I’m capable of forming my own opinions and that she thinks I’m easily influenced by people’s lifestyle choices and ideologies. Believe me ma, I’m smarter than that.
You can’t shut your eyes to the world, or pretend that these people don’t exist. They do, and they want to love, not hate. Some might say they are loving the wrong kind of people, but it sure beats hate, doesn’t it?
If it’s a decision between love and hate, what will you choose?
I love your whole post thedriveintheatre. It was very meaning full!
And I agree with you, I don’t know why some people choose hate instead of love. It makes me ashamed that most states in my country deny rights to Homosexuals (such as marriage). It’s mind boggeling!
