What's on your mind? (Status Updates)

I might get to go to camp for the first time ever this summer with two of my best friends (who I only get to see about once every 2 years)! :astonished:

TDIT: My father is a homophobe. One of my sister’s close friends is gay, and she hardly gets to see him because my dad doesn’t approve. And he won’t let me watch Glee anymore because two boys kissed. :unamused:
Homosexuality exists in tons of species, and yet it’s only considered “unnatural” when it’s humans.

Sorry if I offended anyone, but a little bit of tolerance in this world would be really great.

I hope you get to!

rock-itpop: My father doesn’t believe in equal marriage for homosexuals, so you’re not alone in the parent area. It’s a generation gap, and the acceptence rate of homoexuality grows with each decade it seems.

Tommorrow in Fish and Wildlife Conservation class, we are going to visit a wildlife rehabilitation center. And they have three Mountain Lions there (which is my favorite animal!). I’m excited.

 I get to dog sit my aunt’s adorable little dog this weekend.

I swear my History teacher never stops setting us work. First she sets us a test, then questions, then more questions and a huge booklet with even more questions in. All in one week! She overworks us.

^ My math and science teacher does that to my class.
Not fun. Not fun at all.

Mortal Kombat legacy = epic.

I’m also very frustrated with a professor who never gives classes but yet is very exigent on his tests.

EJE: Ah. Well, I didn’t mean you in particular, though I remember reading about your great uncle. i just meant at all.

TDIT:I was wondering about Darla, too. She doesn’t seem like it, but you never know.

Anyway, my dad’s not very prejudiced. Might be because my uncle is gay, because my mom definitely doesn’t like gays. She hates Neil Patrick Harris and some other famous people for it, and she wasn’t exactly nice to my uncle about it when he lived with us.

EJE: Thanks for reading. It also hurts me that Australia recognises ‘civil unions’ for social welfare, but does not acknowledge mariage between two consenting adults. In fact, the government inserted a clause stating it has to be “between a man and a woman” into the '64 Marriage Act which wasn’t there before, as recently as 2004. Why they do this in the 21st century is beyond me.

Some critics say that if we allow gays to marry, this will open the floodgates to a host of other problems like people wanting to marry animals, or inanimate objects. To that I say, the difference is that both parties consent. We may never know whether a dog agrees to marriage (unless we decipher animal speech), and a chair will never express its consent. But if two people want to love each other and remain together for the rest of their life, why can’t they?

rock-itpop: As you have said, homosexuality naturally occurs in other species. I’m not saying that we should be on the same level as animals (because of obvious innate differences) but this calls for an act of investigation, instead of close-minded dismissal.

IV: I will not convince you to support either argument. All I can say is that, you have the power to make your own decisions. If you believe what your mum is doing is right, you have the power to believe in that. If you believe what your mum is doing is wrong, you also have the power to believe in that. Read as much as you can, talk to as many people as possible, and watch as many news outlets as possible. Once you have all the information, you are able to form your own ‘moral compass’ and make your own personal stand in what you believe in. Will you choose what’s right? I’m not sure. Nobody knows what’s ‘right’. But that’s something only you can discover for yourself.

Now on to a lighter topic… what am I thinking of?

I went to watch Rio in 3D yesterday (well, it’s 1 AM now, so the day before yesterday). And my verdict is… it SUCKED.

Just teasing! It was MAGNIFICENT. If I can just say, I think it stands right next to Rango as my favourite film of the year. The only other movie I’ve watched is Sucker Punch, and it was a little disappointing. Cars 2 and Kung Fu Panda 2 really have their work cut out for them if they’re gonna impress me.

I’m in a musical at school. Its a big thing for me because i dont like people at all and i get stage fright. BUT I’m in the Mission Band so i’m kinda just a small person; lately they havent been very nice to us and we feel like crap because we get yelled at… Yesterday i was really considering on getting out of it because they really Don’t need me there’s plenty Mission Band, but i want to do this for me and for my family. We both need to know that i can do this.

TDIT, you’re right. And I don’t want to agree with either of my parents just because they are my parents. Not only is that ignorant, but then I would have two opposing opinions. :stuck_out_tongue: 8D I’m still working on it. I also don’t want my uncle to affect my opinion, or my church. It’s very difficult to be objective and fair to yourself some times, especially with so many things in your life pointing both ways, to where both sides seem right. I need to learn more, like you said.

The Incredibles blu-ray is amazing!

Nice, which musical?

just kicked butt with my scene. now it’s on to monologues.

I’m so terribly happy, and I have no idea why/how.

I’m very tempted to quote an Incredibles line here…

What’s on my mind? Well, I got some errands to run and an event to attend tonight, but after that I’m looking forward to working on some Rio and Fast Five fanwork tonight. Hurray for Friday nights (it’s the weekend here in Oz… can you smell what the Rock is cookin’???).

I brought in my 19th year by watching The Hangover and South Park with my bestie!

Happy birthday!!!

I’m in a pretty somber mood today…

You would never be able to tell just talking on here, but my teeth right now are in pretty bad shape. I haven’t had my last visit to the dentist in a long time, though I still got by just fine for that long, but now they’re starting to take their toll for me. Not only do I have cavities but I have teeth that have chipped apart and with holes in them, wisdom teeth that haven’t been pulled yet, and even an extra tooth that grew in at the front of my mouth (food tends to get stuck there when I eat). Remarkably though, I’ve hardly ever felt any pain all this time until recently. I already have an appointment for the dentist planned very soon where I’m going to have my teeth repaired while being put to sleep (because I would prefer that over having to feel the pain of your teeth being yanked out of your mouth :~o).

And suddenly I can’t help but think of P. Sherman in Finding Nemo when I say that.
