I don’t want a Toy Story 4. I absolutely Love Toy Story but there really doesn’t need to be a Toy Story 4, Toy Story 3 was the perfect ending to the Toy Story series. If you added anymore it could just ruin it. But knowing Pixar if they did make a Toy Story 4 it would probably be brilliant just like its other films.
^ I agree with you.
I voted no because I think the movie ended wonderfully.
Wasn’t that theme of it - moving on? I bet a ton of teenagers and young adults are in Andy’s postion so it’s like we’re saying goodbye to the toys aswell as our childhood.
But, that dosen’t mean I wouldn’t like a short film, just to see how the gang are doing at Bonnie’s or maybe Sunnyside now that Lotso’s gone.
Even if Toy Story 4 was the best movie ever made, it would completely ruin the effect of Toy Story 3, and I would hate for that to happen.
As someone stated above, if it was PIXAR-endorsed, then I’d see it, since they won’t make a sequel unless they have a good story (that ideology is the reason why we have not seen an ‘Incredibles 2,’ and I like that way of thinking).
Personally, ‘3’ should be a fitting end. I think a majority of people are in denial. They are looking at Toy Story the way a 10 year-old sits at the kitchen table looking at the back door, saying that Dad just went to the store and will come back soon…even though he’s been dead and buried for 5 years.
It’s like ‘Back to the Future Part 3.’ 3 is usually seen as a good ending number. Plus, you allow your characters to (as Buzz said), ‘go out on a high note.’
I also feel that film-wise, closing it out now is good. It’s kind of like saying a proper farewell to the past, and looking ahead to the future. Toy Story was what put PIXAR at the forefront of most of our psyches, and to allow it to go out this way is just perfect. It’s ‘The Return of the King’ of the trilogy (and I say that hoping that it will garner Lee Unkrich a win for Animated Feature at the Oscars).
I’m afraid if they made another, it would feel like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull of Shrek 4. Watchable, but a complete undoing of the 3 previous films. Which is really stupid. I hope they stop here, and I have a feeling they will.
I rewatched Toy Story 3 yesterday, and the ending was pure perfection. I don’t even think Pixar could retop themselves again with the Toy Story series!
I’m glad to see “no” winning by a healthy margin; it’s how I voted too. No offense meant to the “yes” voters. I can totally see the argument for a “Toy Story 4.” But I think the reasons not to have a fourth movie are more convincing than the reasons to make one.
Most movie sequels are unnecessary. Toy Story 2 was unnecessary. Now that doesn’t mean it was bad; I loved Toy Story 2. But had the movie never been made, we could have been secure in the knowledge that Woody and Buzz were friends, that Andy loved both of them, and that they would probably learn to deal with the then-unnamed puppy. Toy Story 3 was more necessary. The idea that children eventually grow up and abandon their toys had been introduced and while the second film brought Woody to a point where he had made his peace with that fact, it never made him or Andy’s other toys deal with that eventuallity directly. Toy Story 3 did. It had to. Making the movie about anything other than the point where Andy has outgrown his toys would have been kicking the can down the road and not playing fair.
So just saying that there doesn’t need to be a fourth film is not enough reason to say there shouldn’t be a fourth film.
The reason that I don’t think there should be a “Toy Story 4” is that I don’t think there’s anything left to say. The movies are called “Toy Story” and over the course of the trilogy through various characters, they have told pretty much the whole story of a toy, from new toy to loved toy to outgrown toy and the various possibilities that come after. Each movie has consistently upped the ante, going from sibling rivalry to a recognition of mortality to facing the end of a stage in life - and nearly the end of life period. Where do you go from there? What could happen in the toys’ lives with Bonnie that could possibly put more on the line than there was in Toy Story 3? How could the major arc of the toys’ time with Bonnie differ significantly from their experiences with Andy?
I do love these characters. I’m looking forward to the upcoming short - whichever group of characters it ends up being about - and any more shorts that might be made. And if Pixar does decide to make a fourth film for some reason, I will see it. But right now, I like the ending where it is.
Emphatic NO vote here. And it would be the first Pixar film I would not see, Sam I Am. That thing is so perfectly completed, gift wrapped, and delivered, no story could be justified. It would be like performing a heart transplant on a child with a perfectly healthy heart.
^ Totally agree, Steve.
I vote for “No”, and for reasons that were already mentioned. If there is a 4th film, what will be the tear-jerking and touching ending of the 3rd for? Of course, it’s possible to make a movie about toys’ adventures, but the story of a child growing up ended perfectly. In my opinion, the 4th part can ruin the impression of the 3rd, so no need in it.
I’d love a Toy Story 4. Only because I think the Lee Unkrich and his crew are brilliant enough to create a story that the Toy Story fans will be happy with. Just because the story of life with Andy ended doesn’t mean there’s an ending to the Toys themselves. There’s still life after Andy. If you think about it, although Andy was integral to the past movies he wasn’t really IN them much. I’m sure there could be a storyline that I’d be interested to watch. I’d at least be interested to see where they would take it next.
I wonder if they will do a Toy Story in a few years about Andy having kids of his own.
But I will say that if there isn’t another Toy Story movie they did end the series perfectly.
I can agree with disneymommy but i have to say no for this. The ending was great and i wouldnt want a sequel to butcher it…Look at Shrek they kinda ruined it now and they do it just to make money pixar wont do that thats what i love about pixar they wont make a sequel unless they know it will work.Even if it means losing a couple bucks thats what makes them awsome.
Exactly. You wrote “thats what i love about pixar they wont make a sequel unless they know it will work”. So if they DO make one then I’d look forward to it based on that.
I just dont know if they can top what they did in 3 If they can i look forward to it i guess.
A Toy Story 4 could deal with explaining why the toys are not permitted to reveal themselves to their owner and why they were allowed to break this rule when dealing with Sid.
Well it would be pointless everyone know why toys cant reveal themselves to an owner. They know it and the audience knows it and the reason they did it to sid was to save Buzz it was a last ditch effort if they could of did it another way they would have.
as much as I love the characters from Toy Story, I voted a solid NO, I prefer seeing pixar doing one awesome and terrific Toy story short film per year rather than another new movie
I have a question. Does anyone remember how they felt when Shrek 3 was announced? Well, I know I’ll get flamed for this, and I know that’s a different series, but hear me out. Don’t you think we and critics would lose some of our sacred respect for Pixar if they announced a fourth TS? I know I would. That’s too much stretching even for CG animation.
Loved that you brought up the Indiana Jones comparison. I was thinking the exact same thing. I actually thought The Temple of Doom was horrible and campy and just a terrible sequel but then The Last Crusade came out and I thought it was pretty good. The Kingdom of the Crystal was a terrible sequel in my opinion. Great comparison though.
As for Shrek, I don’t think any of their movies come anywhere close to Toy Story. There’s no comparison in my opinion.
