Not that I don’t like WALL-E - just it’s a cartoon, and attracts mostly children, and therefore the first week will be crowded with screaming children and crying babies. Obnoxious, but they make me feel like the bad guy by yelling “SHUSH!” though … I could find worser choices of words. xD
I’ll avoid anything WALL-E related, as I’ve always been on these boards. People tend to spoil things for me, and love it (not necessarily on these boards; in general )
I am. I hope there will be a midnight showing in my area but I’ll settle for first showing in the morning. Anyone know if they are showing it at midnight in their areas?
Heck yes. I’m seeing it by myself the first day (which is what I did with Ratatouille, and let me tell you it’s kinda weird when everybody comes in and everybody has kids except for you). I do this because I like to watch it by myself at first so that when I take my family later, I can watch my kids’ reactions or even talk to them about anything if they need to talk about anything.
Plus, I always like to see the first crowd’s reaction to it.
I voted yes, but obviously I’m not seeing it on the 27th. But I’m definitely seeing it on the opening day here- I’m dragging all my friends along as it’s the last day of the school term so I have a good excuse to bring them with me. I’ll probably see it again with my mum a week or so later, when hopefully it’ll have quitened down just a tad.
I’m most likely going to end up seeing it on the 27th. I’ll be sure to use spoiler tags for quite some time though – say, until the film ends it’s run in the theaters or when the DVD gets released.
I’ll try and see it on opening day in Australia… It’s a Thursday, which is a tad inconvenient, but if I go at 7:30pm then at least there won’t be as many kids.
Wall-E does not premiere here in Estonia until August 15 but some lucky guys have already seen it and said only good things about it. Will be going on the first day I guess.
Since Finding Nemo, I’ve seen every Pixar film on opening day. Turns out next Friday I was scheduled an early-afternoon to late-night shift where I work. Oh, well. I’ll be able to see it the next day (the 28th), so that’s almost as good.
I would love to, but I’m not sure. There’s always the little kids screaming: “Mommy, it’s WALL-E!” or “Mommy, they’re in outer space!” It’s a tad annoying.
You guys make good points, but we’ve already reserved our tickets for 4:00 on the 28th. I’ll just have to deal with the little kids.
Oh well, little kids screaming might tick me off, but at least I’ll only have to wait a day after its release to see it, and I KNOW I’ll be getting this one on DVD.
I’ve never had an overly bad experience with opening weekends. I saw Caspian opening weekend, and it had been targeted to the younger set (it shouldn’t have, but that’s not the point) and it was fine. I’m gonna do everything IO can to get to this opening day.
Opening day, AMC, 10 AM!
Truth be told, I can’t ever remember seeing anything on opening day, or the first showing of opening day. To anyone who’s been to that first morning slot (the Pixar blockbuster-type), is it densely crowded? What about the kid traffic ratio? 1/2? Help me out here, guys. Mom used to make us wait a month so the crowds could die down, but we weren’t even aware of an “opening day” then.
I always love going to first showings or midnight showings. You can be guaranteed that everyone there is a total fan and will do nothing but add to the experience. The best midnight showing I’ve been to is definably any of the Star Wars movies. Pre-movie beach balls are great!
Well, it looks like I’m gonna go on the 28th. My mom is working the 27th, and we have something important to do after she gets home, and it just doesn’t fir that day. But going with my family is tradition, and it’s important to me. Besides, this is about the movie, not the opening day hype, right? It’s still gonna be very special.
