was wondering if anybody had read the book or had seen

the play . I’m almost done with the book and I’m seeing the play next month . I can’t wait ! At the moment

i’m listening to the soundtrack and the book’s on my desk next to me .

So have you seen or read

“Wicked” ?

Do you

know who’s going to be Elphaba and Glinda at the performance you’re going to? I saw the performance in Toronto

with Shoshana Bean as Elpheba… she was great. All in all, it was a cool performance. I would’ve enjoyed it a

lot more if I didn’t have seats all the way at the end, but oh well. Have fun!

Wicked was totally wicked!!

I saw it

in August in CHICAGO and it just blew me away. The music, the acting, the story. Everything. Wicked was the best

musical I’ve ever seen and I listen to the soundtrack as many times as to the Cars soundtrack (And that means

something! )

I might read the book sometime, when I finally have more time.

I have not gotten around to reading the book (story of my

life) but I’ve heard the music. I found it to be entirely, well… meh. Nothing special, certainly.

Musically, it’s just too pop-like for my tastes in musicals. Now, you’re also talking to someone who adores

Gilbert and Sullivan operettas and thinks that straight-up opera is a good time. You’re also talking to someone

who lives with three theatre majors, one of whom is also an opera major. They introduced me to musical theatre,

so I’ve got a strong Sondheim bias. I dunno. There’s just a lot more musically interesting stuff out

there.

Then again, I’ve been known to be a musical snob from time to time, so you might want to take that

into account.

The

musical is just lovely. I love the music.

Aggie: No , I don’t

know yet . I will tell you when I do know .

I’m surprised not many of you have read the book . It’s

really good , and skips some of the stuff that the play does . It’s not hard to read , and is pretty interesting

.

I love Wicked! I’m actually using the book for fanart100

on livejournal, so I’ve been doing illustrations of it  Saw the musical in Chicago in April (Kristy Cates and

Stacy Morgain Louis) and in London (Idina Menzel & Helen Dallimore) with Mell_o_Drama  I like the book the

best, though.

Tickets are so hard to get… so I haven’t seen it yet. I’m going to though I think this

coming June so I’m really excited.

I’ve read about a third of the book and although there are a lot of

interesting parts, when it got boring, it got boring. And I had a hard time getting back on track. So I’m

probably gona have to start all over again since I’ve forgotten the story now. Many parts are rather adult

though.

What are your favorite songs in Wicked?

I enjoy :
No One Mourns the Wicked
What Is This Feeling
Dancing

Through Life
Popular
One Short Day
March of The Witch Hunters
Defying Gravity

I know , thats

alot of songs , but I like them all.

I have only heard one song. And

that is popular. So I think it is safe to say that that is my favorite.

Chapter 1 : Galinda
part

1

Characters:
Galinda
Dr.Dillamond
Ama Clutch
Conductor

Stage Directions : We are

outside the train , and Ama Clutch is whining about stepping on a rusty nail that had punctured her foot .

Ama Clutch : Please , my duckie , let me go to the hospital . I need medicine and calming spells .

Galinda : If you must Ama Clutch . I can get to Shiz on my own , it doesn’t bother me .

Conductor : All aboard !

SD : Galinda gets on train sitting in her seat . Along side of her is

Doctor Dillamond , looking out the window . Galinda does not look amused or happy that she is there . The

Conductor is there .

Conductor : Your ticket , Dr.Dillamond .

Dr.Dillamond : Of course . Miss ,

may you please be so kind to reach my ticket overhead .

Galinda : ( Grabs ticket ) Here you are .

Dr.Dillamond : Oh no , not to me dearie , to the conductor . I cannot grab so much as a pencil with these

hooves .

SD : Galinda hands ticket to conductor .

Dr.Dillamond : I can see you are going to Shiz

University . What are you planning to learn there ?

Galinda : I was taught never to talk to strangers .

Dr.Dillamond: Well then I will introduce myself , then we will no longer be stragers to one another . I

am Dr.Dillamond . I’m on the Faculty of Biological Arts .

Galinda : Then I guess i will have to overcome

my shyness . I am Galinda .I am of the Arduenna Clan on my mother’s side .

Dr.Dillamond : Well welcome to

Shiz Miss Glinda . ( puts hoof out to shake )

Galinda : (ignors hand) Galinda , old proper Gillikinese

pronunciation , if you please .

end scene .

of course i doesn’t say gottalovepixar as

the name . Hey CG93 , guess who would probably play Dr.Dillamond ? ( small inside joke about a guy we used to

both like )

For me, Defying Gravity is one of the best melodies in a musical ever made.
I almost start to cry, when

I’m listening to it.

I love No

Good Deed - it sounds awesome and it looks amazing live. I love Defying Gravity, too though, and Wonderful (which

I used to skip all the time until I finally saw it in the show and realised it was this amazing vaudeville type

thing, haha!).

I am so

excited. In my next choir cincert, my director is considering doing a Wicked Medley. I am excited because I get

to sing songs that I have never heard before from the musical.

What are the songs u are singing ?

Okay, okay, here is where I draw the line. I put my foot down! I

am an admitted literary snob, and I object!

THE BOOK CAME FIRST. For pity’s sake, it came first! The

musical added crap in to be more dramatic, which, by the way, is lame. While I have not read the book, all three

of my housemates have, and I got to hear their rants. And being that I have an interest in adaptation between

different media, I take in such information and hold it close. But to say the book “skips” things is

completely wrong and I cannot let such statements stand uncorrected!

[/literary

rant]

ahem

Anywhoo. I don’t like the pop style in general. It worked for exactly one song, and

that is “Popular.” However, I find the song to be really irritating because it gets into your head and

won’t get out. This is okay with some songs, namely songs I like. But I don’t like “Popular” enough

to want it to be in my head all the time.

Bah. Avenue Q is a much better musical. w00t for social

commentary in a hilarious way.

DWH - Amen to that – you tell 'em, dude!

Ahem – my apologies, but I

also stand by the book: the book comes first!

As for the play itself, well, I have never seen it. I

don’t plan to attend the spectacular performance either, even if it is “the bomb”.

I shall now

leave this thread… Heh.

I’m sorry , i messed up . I meant to say the

play skipped stuff . After getting more into the book ,

man the play got it all wrong ! Nessarose is not supposed to have arms , not not working legs ! And elphaba came

to learn , not to take care of her . And fiyero never fell in love with Galinda in school .

I always stand

by the book . The book rules ! The play and/or movie is usually for people who can’t , or don’t want to , read

the book . Or they never heard of the book ( i admit i bought the tickets before i got the book , not noticing it

was one ) .

and about the popular , man i couldn’t get it out of my head until i heard What is This

Feeling , and now that song rings through my head .

EDIT : ha ha , i noticed i missed a not in one

sentence

For a while, i always thought that the play came first.

Then the book.
