I was looking at movie posters and one of them was the one from The Green Mile, that wonderful film by Frank Darabont.
Anyway, the movie’s protagonist is Tom Hanks, and his wife was played by Bonnie Hunt. Of course, they are the voice actors who play Woody and Dolly. I laughed when I realized it.
Still, I don’t think they (as Toy Story characters) make a good couple. So no, I reject the Woody-Dolly pairing.
Ha, that’s really interesting! And if for some reason a Woody/Dolly relationship would blossom it would be a funny coincidence. By the way, I need to see that movie!
I can’t really see it happening as their personalities weren’t as compatible as Woody’s was with Bo. Woody, in my opinion, suits someone soft and gentle but who is able to offer him good advice when he needs it. Dolly seems like a lovely toy, and she has a frankness about her which makes me believe that she and Woody will be good friends in the future, but as sexist as it sounds, a guy like Woody needs a girl who is willing to…not stay in the background as such, but to play the quieter role in the relationship. Otherwise an almighty power clash will ensue, and though some people enjoy that sort of fiery punch in a relationship, I don’t think that’s Woody’s style.
Hahahaha, ew. Isn’t Dolly designed to be like, 5? And who’re we to really judge her character, she has about three lines of dialogue.
I imagine Woody to be like Carl Fredericksen. Don’t really see him with anyone but Bo, I think Toy Story 3 makes a point that his priorities aren’t really towards a romantic interest.
I could see it going either way and like you said the “Carl Fredericksen” way seams in Woody’s character. I could see him getting really bitter after years of seeing Buzz and Jessie together although he would hide it for his friends sake. Maybe Dolly could be the Russell in the situation…Woody’s support as a friend. Or the Dory in Nemo terms. Someone to give him comfort and friendship when he’s feeling down.
to be honest… i don’t like bo at all… i hate her suffocating woody’s neck with her stick… n i dont understand y woody likes her… if mr potato head gets impatient becoz all his parts fall off all the time, y does woody enjoy having someone suffocating him all the time? imagine someone pressing yor throat with their hands… do u like it? the only reason i can think of y woody’s in love with bo is tat… there aren’t much girl gender toys in the good old andy’s house…
ok… back to topic… due to her body structure, i think bo wasnt in toy story 3 becoz it would be difficult for her to escape sunnyside…
and i don’t think she will return though… coz after all toy story has a large children audiences… it would to bad for pixar to teach children tat when they lose a love one, u can find someone to replace her (at least from my point of view)

Yeah, When you look at all the stuff woddy and the gang had to go through in ts3 there’s a reason why she wasn’t in the movie. Plus the poor girl would’ve never made it through the toddler scene.
agree with Johnny_Boy. and in the [spoil]incinerator[/spoil] scene she would’ve begun to melt before they even [spoil]fell off the conveyor belt[/spoil]. nonetheless, something hit me while i saw the movie again today (4th time yeeee): when woody [spoil]arrives in bonnie’s room[/spoil], bo could’ve come from another room or a shelf or something (come up with your own theory as to how she got to bonnie’s) and been like “what’s all the racket?” then she & woody reunite, incredibly touching moment, he says to come with him to andy’s again & she says no because she knows she no longer serves a purpose there. which coulda been the first instigator of woody thinking about a toy’s purpose. anyways, not gonna work on other details because that’s really all that hit me when i watched it this time and because i was very content with the actual movie. i just felt the need to tell others about this idea because i’ve been thinking about it since this afternoon. man i miss bo.
And, to certain extent, that was also one of the many messages from Toy Story 3. The whole [spoil]Andy/Bonnie[/spoil] thing wasn’t about "replace, but about going on with life.
You guys remember the part when they arrived at Sunnyside and Lotso and his gang gave them the tour?
Remember how Ken asked Barbie to come along with him into the butterfly room so she could see his dream house?the same could have been done for Bo,Lotso could have said something along the lines of
“My my what a pretty porcelain doll, you deserve to be on display in the in Butterfly room” or
" Ms. Peep you should come to the Butterfly room, the little girls would love to play tea party with you and your sheep"
if she had went to the the room with the older kids like Barbie then she would have never been broken or had to be included in the Toddler scene, and she would have been played with correctly by more age appropriate kids.
People it wasn’t that hard to find a place for her,i think that being porcelain shyt was a LAME excuse,i call that being lazy.as much as i love Lee, and i think he did a great job with TS3…i really liked it,i just really missed Bo,the original female lead of TS.
and before someone says well she was a lamp, well she was a figurine attached to it,lets say over the years Molly broke the lamp, but decided to keep Bo and her sheep as decorations or just dolls to play with.
I don’t see why she was sold anyway, people usually don’t give away porcelain because it’s very expensive…lol Bo could have been worth a lot of Money one day.Anywyaz i liked Bo,even though she never did go on the adventures she was the voice of reason and before there was Jessie,Mrs.P.Barbie or Dolly there was Bo peep.
I don’t see how you snatch off the main guys love interest … everybody ended up with some one
Jessie and Buzz(finally)
Mt. Potato and Mrs.Potato head(married)
Rex and Trixie(he finally has another Dinosaur companion)
Ham and Slinky(gay lovers) j/k
I just don’t think Dolly looks good with Woody, she is a Huge rag dog with a big head, her whole head it bigger than his body.plus the way she’s designed makes her look like a little girl…=/
personality wise i don’t think they mix either,in the movie it was hints that she may have been attracted to him,but Woody didn’t show no love back…lol
Sorry, but I don’t see how her absence can be a consequence of laziness.
As much as I would love her to be in the movie, I don’t think she not being there has anything to do with that… Did you see the number of toys the animated in Sunnyside? I’m sure animating Bo wouldn’t be so much harder, so I’m pretty sure her absence isn’t derivative of technical difficulties.
Exactly they couldn’t find a place for her in the story, either somebody is being lazy with character development or the writing. It wasn’t hard.I’m not questioning Lee’s creative persona, who BTW is a GREAT director and what not…but come on now
I’m not even a director and i just gave very logical and realistic ways that she could have made it without breaking
Well, even if she could survive Sunnyside by being in the Butterfly room, it would be very difficult to put her in the subsequent scenes (the escape, the dump).
I think the most elegant way of putting her in the plot was keeping her at Andy’s house.
But, then again, would Molly still have her? Would she be in the attic, meaning that the rest of the characters should have gone up there to meet her, slowing down the first half of the movie?
I do think there were some ways to include her, but they would have the script affected, just for fan service.
In short, I don’t think it has anything to do with writing laziness (and of course, having her in the movie isn’t “character development” at all). In fact, I think it had the signature of the great writers: sometimes you should sacrifice your own characters, personal whims and, above all, fan service in order to benefit the overall plot. That’s what they did and while I loved Bo, I applaud the filmmakers for their brave move.
Best of all: her lost serves perfectly to the main theme of the movie.
Lotso hated all newcomers unless they will do what he wants.
[spoil]The only reason Ken asked Barbie to come with him is becasue he fell in love with her, When she broke up with him, she was back with Andy’s t toys.[/spoil]
