Since there are a lot of teenagers
and young adults on this site, I thought this might be something a bunch of us have had experience with. I just
found out last week that my bottom two were coming in completely perpendicular to
the rest of my teeth! So I went to the oral surgeon yesterday and they took all four of them out. The
anaesthesia made me sick and part of my mouth is still numb. Not to mention the
oh-so-attractive swelling. I will say, though, that especially with the prescription they’ve given me, it
really hasn’t been too painful.
So…does anyone else want to share their story? Or just offer me some
sympathy?
I offer my condolences, but I actually had a blast getting my wisdom teeth out.
They
were perfectly perpendicular to my teeth as well – Dentist said they were the hardest teeth he’s ever had to
get out EVER. (Pretty proud of that I must say!)
The only numbed my mouth, so I was awake throughout the
entire surgery. I couldn’t help but think of that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer has his mouth numb with
Novacaine and he tells Jerry “I’m LOADED” . . . the result was me
laughing throughout the entire surgery!!
At the very end, the Dentist was able to pull out two of them
whole and he had to break two of them up. Go figure.
And if you took off my glasses post-surgery, you
would have thought I was Marlon Brando from The Godfather.
I loved telling
the teachers “I got my teeth pulled!” when they asked “How was your weekend?”
Of
course it was more like “I ga ma teee puull’d”
Yeah, I had a blast . . .
I got all four pulled at once. And they supposedly used this gas to put me to sleep, but I
still felt it and it was like a nightmare and I couldn’t wake from it. It was horrible. It hurt for days =P But
before I knew it I couldn’t feel it anymore, and everything was normal again.
Oh, then I am SO glad that I wasn’t put to
sleep!!
I’m now dreading
having wisdom teeth. blank face
But they’re not always pulled, are they?
It’s true wisdom teeth aren’t always pulled. Mine came
in at a bad angle so they would have caused trouble for my existing teeth. Most of the time, there just isn’t
enough room in your mouth for them to come in properly. It’s something almost everyone has to go through, but I
think the younger you are the easier it is.
On the plus side, all I’ve eaten since Monday is ice cream,
jello, pudding, and mashed potatoes…mostly ice cream. My little sister had jaw surgery two weeks ago and
she’s also on a soft diet, so we have six different kinds of ice cream in the freezer right now!
I’m actually an odd one and probably won’t be
growing wisdom teeth at all. I have a lack of adult teeth and actually still have… 3? baby teeth and I’m 15.
And adult teeth will probably never grow out at this point (though I do have all my molars).

Aaaaah, the perfect thread!
I’m getting all four
of mine out THIS Friday! I’m sooooo scared! I took the weekend off work, so I hope the pain won’t be as bad by
Monday. Tell me, is the pain bad? I know they give painkillers, but I’m still scared, hehe.
I may just be good with pain
(I’m trying really hard not make that sound braggish), but I RARELY ever had to use my pain medication. All I
ever did when I was during my “Marlon Brando stage” was take my anti-bacterial to ensure I wouldn’t
have another medication!
For me, I had a lot of Cheese & Potato Soup, fat-free pudding, yogurt, and
jello.
After two weeks of eating nothing but that, I actually lost some weight too!
Yeah, I had a
GREAT experience!

I’ve been pretty lucky. I had my front four baby teeth pulled because they came in crooked
due to a medication my mom had to take while pregnant. I wore a bridge for about the first 6 years of my life.
Since then though I’ve had no trouble as all my adult teeth came in perfectly straight and I never had to wear
braces. Now mw and my big mouth also have plenty of room for all my wisdom teeth as well.

Hehe, thanks. I’m glad this
thread was made at such a time.
Aw, poor
Aggie! It’s okay, I went straight to sleep and didn’t wake up until I was already at home on my couch.
Hopefully it will be the same for you. And use ice packs on your cheeks the first day, it made me feel better
and it will help with the swelling later on. Let us know how you’re feeling when you’re conscious again! Good
luck, I’m sure you’ll be fine and so doped up on painkillers you won’t be able to walk in a straight line.

Woo, I’m back home
from the surgery. Man, that was weird. They gave me a needle and I don’t even remember getting tired. The next
thing I remembered was waking up on a bed, and my mother came in. My mouth is stuffed with… stuffing… and I’m
putting ice packs on my cheeks every now and then. I’m having a fun time trying to stuff yogurt in my mouth,
haha.
It was a pretty cool experience, because I was never put to sleep before. It’s going to be an
interesting weekend… hehe. Thanks for the support, guys!
So, are your cheeks the size of Ren Stevens??
Glad it wasn’t too painful, by the way!
Race
you to recovery! Today I wanted to push my limits so I ate a tiny Twix bar. I had to bite off little pieces and
let them dissolve in my mouth! It was so worth it. I’m almost out of the good pain pills and I hate to
see the end of those. Glad everything went well for you, Aggie!

Haha, and I look like I was beaten up! Man those bruises look weird. Sadly, the
surgery HAD to happen on the day my mother brings home pizza from work, which only occurs once a month. Hopefully
they’ll save some for me in the freezer so I can eat them in about a week!
Lol,
bet she timed it and everything!
