Wisdom Teeth

It’s nice that you’re recovering, PixarVixen! I was just as scared as you were in the beginning, but I was

glad that it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was in the end, hehe.

I had to wait until the stiches

dissolved in my mouth. Some surgeons take them out, and others tell you to let them dissolve. The last one

actually fell out of my mouth, but it was three weeks after the surgery so everything feels pretty good now. It

kinda hurts when I yawn really wide, but other than that, things have gone back to normal. Yay!

Well, I feel perfect after having surgery back in April . . . and I can open my mouth all the way without

hurting at all (I can put my whole fist in it again . . . which I don’t do often . . . but enough to know I can

do it with ease! :stuck_out_tongue: )

Glad the surgery went well, PixarVixen . . . have fun eating soft foods!! I highly

recommend a Potato/Cheese soup . . . just not too hot!

Yeah, it

isn’t as bad as I had previously thought.

I can only drink from a cup. Using straws is forbidden. Heh.

And I haven’t eaten anything yet, but I have lots of soup, Jell-o, macaroni and cheese, and ice cream stocked

up. Nothing chunky yet.

~~=oP

I forgot the No Straw Rule . . .

drove me bonkers, it did (I consider the inventor of the straw to be of the same caliber as the zipper &

velcros guys . . . PURE genius . . . or close to it. :stuck_out_tongue: )

On another happy note . . . great Avatar! The

boy reading Mr. Incredible from Finding Nemo, no??

Yep! I love his expression. That scene was so darn clever.

I

felt like doing a Finding Nemo theme to follow up my recent dental encounter.

^^

Since we’re on the topic - I wonder if that kid is

modeled after Brad as a boy or one of his kids. I only say that because a - he is holding the Incredi-comic

which would be a good in-joke and b - I know I look a fair deal like Brad and that kid looks alot like me at that

age so it stands to reason that that’s what Brad and his kids would look like.

Suure, Dashy. Whatever you say. ;-o

But really, I can see that. We don’t

know what Brad looked like when he was very young. Or maybe that was supposed to be Michael or Jack.

Or

maybe he looks like none of them and you’re imagining things. XP

Back on topic…Does anyone have any

advice for stopping myself from bleeding? It wasn’t a problem for me until I woke up from a nap

today.

~~=oP

I’m so glad it went okay, PixarVixen! That pain medicine

is some serious stuff. ;-p As for the bleeding, it is really annoying but should only last for a day or two.

Biting down on some gauze helps. While you’re sleeping, lay something over your pillow so you don’t get

blood-drool on it.

I went back to my oral surgeon today because my chin is still numb. :unamused: He gave

me steroids, and I’m not sure how that is supposed to help anything. But the surgeon said he’s never had a

patient that had permanent numbness, so it is probably just taking a very long time to get better.

Tell me about it. That stuff has been making me

nauseous. It didn’t the first day, but it’s been wearing me down since yesterday

morning.

Too late for that.

:~o

My doctor told me that permanent numbness could be a

result of the surgery, but it only has a 1% chance of occuring.

I

have a fake tooth, and part of it came off the other day so I sort of have the piece fitted in place, but it

falls out occasionally… it’s like having a contact lense for my tooth. Hopefully I’ll get an appointment to

fix it soon.

Is it kinda like what I have?

A year or two ago, I

had a whole chunk of a back tooth break off. For the longest time, my dentist had been telling me everything was

fine. Then one day, I was eating CEREAL, and it broke. That’s why I switched over to seeing my uncle who is a

dentist. He took care of me and filled in the missing piece with some kind of plastic (I think it was). It

feels just like the rest of my tooth, so it’s like it doesn’t exist.

~~=oP

Yeah, it’s kinda like that. Except mine is a front tooth and half of it is still there, undeneath the

plastic-like material they use to make the rest of it. But what had happened was part of the fake tooth (the

plstic stuff) had chipped off, but the piece can still stick to it. If I leave it along it’ll stay in but when I

go to eat or move my tounge against the back of my teeth it’ll fall out. So yes, it’s similar to what you

have.

I have two front teeth that are still baby teeth so even

though they weren’t chipped, they put the fake stuff on it to fill out my mouth more. And I also have a fake

tooth like bridged in (a molar) where the baby tooth fell out but an adult one didn’t grow in… Wait, now that

I think about it, one of the baby teeth is actually an adult one… but it’s realllyyyyy stubby. And it’s

almost 90 degrees crooked.

Yeah… I have a lot of problems growing in new teeth. Heh.

And

I also had part of my molar break off. Except it was when that molar was growing out and I felt something like…

wiggle-able there and I thought it was a my gum but it turns out it was like an 8th of my tooth. Heh. I don’t

know what happened but my dentist never said anything about so… yeah.

woah, that totally trumps my bad dental care! I hope everything gets fixed there…

All the stuff wrong with my teeth is basically… a… nutritional problem I would say.

So even if I did grow adult teeth, it was likely they would be small and weak (explains the back molar breaking

heh). I don’t like milk and when you’re a kid, that’s basically your only source of calcium. Now I take

vitamins and stuff so I’m good. And my mom always thought I was lacking in calcium plus other things (because I

don’t eat red meat) but I got a blood test recently and I’m all good and set to go! I even have an excess

amount of protein, ha! (Nothing to worry about though).

I’m rather scared though, I’m still growing so

they can’t do anything permanent yet. But when I turn around 18… they’re gonna put in implants in place of my

baby teeth. Ahhhh… I still have a few years butttttt… that’s scary. Eeek. I’ll come back to this thread

when the time comes.

Maaayn!

Okay, so it’s been about a month since I got my teeth out, right? And boy

howdy, it wasn’t too much of an ordeal for my mouth. Never had any pain - or at least anything that really

bothered me. So I go to the oral surgeon last week - he looks at my mouth, and tells me I’m making a great

recovery - faster than most people have. And then - WHAM!

I’ve got a mouth infection and it hurts. My

face is swollen again, too.

AGH.

Oh that

sucks! Perhaps you weren’t thankful enough of your fast recovery! Heh. Well, I hope you get better soon!
