I have to admit that I’m not a big football fan. All the World Cup means to me is an increase in the amount of silly plastic flags attached to cars, and the shop where I’m working being empty at the times when England (or anyone else, for that matter) is playing.
Still, it doesn’t come round often, so I’ll try my best to get in the spirit and shall endevour to pronounce the name of my country as though it has three syllables, as apparently that’s what you do when you watch football. ENG-ER-LAND!
haha I’m with you lizardgirl, maybe this year I will enjoy it more though, I’m going to be at glastonbury during some of the matches and they are showing one on the pyramid stage, so it may be fun to lie on the grass and chant along.
I support France, but only because I like their culture and language. I know there’s lotsa French-haters and whatnot… I think they only won one World Cup, and that was when they were host… don’t really follow soccer/football much.
My brother supports Italy, but naturally because they’re strong. My sis supports Brazil, but only casually like me. We bought souvenir fans each from Hokkaido back when Japan and South Korea were the hosts in 2002…
And South Africa is a magnificent country. Beautiful scenery, warm and friendly people… I had a great time when my family vacationed there a few years ago.
I reckon it’s between Spain, Brazil or Holland. Who ever wins the quarter finals between (soon to be) Brazil & Holland, will face Spain in the final. Sooo one of them three.
I think David Villa or Robin Van Persie will be top scorer, i can’t see Rooney winning it. And behind them two i think the best player since Maradona & the 2nd best player of all time will get it. (Messiiiiiiiiiii)
I like the WC it’s so fun
Only negative thing is all the injuries… Boswinga, Beckham, (maybe) Robben, Drogba (could be alright), Ballack, Essien, (maybe) Pirlo, Mikel, Owen, Ferdinand, it goes on and on…
The Samurai Blue Japan mens team will score ZERO goals in the world cup. They played their last tune-up game with Zimbabwe, ranked 110 in the world, to a scoreless tie.
Just had a quick look at the match, and it seems to be one all…Not that I really care. My goodness, the sound of the crowd is irritating. Those horn things must be really distracting if you’re playing.
Well the USA v. England game ended with a tie. Now I don’t know how it works, but all of the sportscasters say that a tie is a good thing for the US. Can someone please explain it to me?
I wouldn’t take my word for it exactly, but generally USA are considered a worse team then england. So a draw for them is good, where as a draw for england against USA is pretty poor
