Worst animated movies of all time?

I am serious. I know I’m not alone in thinking this. Some of the animation is good, but the animation in Roller Coaster Rabbit and Tummy Trouble is better, and funnier, too, imo. But honesly, my problem is less with the animation than with the film. It’s a muddled story that can’t be summed up clearly by the film makers. Bob Hoskins is terrific–but wasted. All that talent, but not one character I can care about. I understand it’s place in history, but all of the bells and whistles doesn’t make it a good film. It’s boring.

I’d rather watch Up again!

Don’t you mean Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimarron when you say Dreamworks Horse Movie? I actually really liked that film, along with other Dreamworks 2D films like Prince Of Egypt and The Road To El Dorado (ELTON JOHN  ) . I like Bryan Adams singing in Spirit and I loved the story… of course, Pixar rules forever!!!

I also liked Atlantis… with Michael J. Fox voicing Milo, I thought that I couldn’t go wrong with that  ? Well, we all have our own opinions

Road to el dorado, i havn’t seen that in years, i remember loving that film as a kid

I honestly haven’t seen a lot of awful animated films (I basically only see the films I expect to enjoy). That said, I’ll give you a couple of disappointments, and a positive word for a couple of things mentioned here.

I wanted to like Chicken Little, but thought it was a confused mess - movie by committee, where everyone sat around the table and threw ideas into the pot, figuring something would stick.

I absolutely cannot be objective about Disney’s “Black Cauldron,” because I’m a big fan of Lloyd Alexander’s Prydain books (the source material), and felt they just mangled the originals. I’d still love to see someone do a good, faithful adaptation of Alexander’s series (animated or live-action).

I didn’t see “Over the Hedge” until it came on TV, and actually enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to. Is it brilliant, Oscar-caliber stuff, probably not, but it was cute and fun.

“Dumbo” is a classic! Sweet story, and one of the greatest Disney scores ever! Baby Mine, Pink Elephants, When I See an Elephant Fly - and the Song of the Roustabouts, with the men and elephants raising the circus tent in a thunderstorm, is one of my all time favorite Classic Disney scenes.

Oh, and I’m another one who grew up on “Jungle Book,” and have a lot of sentimental love for it. And yes, it had great songs!

Thats SO true MAN, no one knows if that movie is a basball movie or a parody of war of the worlds

Chicken Little had some weaknesses but it wasn’t terrible.

i also saw some flaws in Barnyard as well.

I own almost every major 3D animation movie as of right now, and i have been blown away with almost every one! specially the Pixar and Dreamworks films. Its those 3rd party studios that slip up a bit.

The only true bad animated movies are Titanic: The Animated Musical and those cheap direct-to-video 3D Pixar-and-Dreamworks knock-offs made by that one Brazilian studio.

Though I must say, I hate Madagascar and I find Who Framed Roger Rabbit? to be overrated.

The movie I detest MOST is Barnyard.

Seriously, it was unfunny and immature at most parts (and I’m not gonna mention the udders on the male cows)

Also what’s with that one cow dying? Child-friendly, yeah sure…

And for some reason Alvin and the Chipmunks irked me… Why?

-Fart jokes.
-It insulted skunks.
-The whole ‘fluffy-animal-calling-a-human-girl-hot’ thing…

Open Season is kinda annoying too…

…yeah.

And now some praise!
Over The Hedge is an enjoyable movie. Not the best, but definitely not the worst. It has some pretty decent songs.

And nobody insults Rock-A-Doodle while I’m around! xD Dude, I watched that movie every single day when I was little

i dont really like anything by dreamworks except spirit, shrek n kung fu panda

i hate chicken little, happily never after, space chimps n open season

the worst iv seen recently tho will have to be monsters vs aliens, god those characters where all so annoying :open_mouth: n why the hell would they put their lives on the line for the humans who had held them captive for so long

Chicken Little was simply terrible. Can’t remember a thing about it years later, except that it was like watching the roadrunner on speed…

I liked Chicken Little. Not LOVED, but liked. I feel so alone. D’8

Agreed on Alvin. It was sad to see my childhood like that. How formulaic can you get?

Anyways, I’m SHOCKED Igor has not been brought up yet. That movie has no theme, no point, no intended audience. It was a really great idea with some good animators and designers working on it but the writing and music were such a train wreck that it was just a HORRIBLE movie. I wanted to burn the DVD. I’m not kidding. I was ready to pay the library fines for doing that but Mom said no. xD

Ha ha! I never felt like doing that to a DVD before. I guess I just need to see “Igor” then! :stuck_out_tongue:

DinoGirl: Finally! Somebody else who thinks the same way about seeing the Alvin and the Chipmunks trailer! I just recently went to the theater and had to sit through the 1 minute trailer for the sequel and when I heard the Chipmunks sing the 20th Century Fox fanfare, I knew it was going to be torture and it was! I can’t believe people are actually going to see that, I feel sorry for them. :stuck_out_tongue: I’m also glad that you actually enjoyed Atlantis, I did too. It was a good traditionally-animated Disney film in a time where there weren’t any good ones. I don’t know why people like this but my brother thought it was boring so I guess that answers my question.

I actually did like the first few Pokemon movies, as well. They were a part of my childhood until the fifth film was put straight to DVD and then I officially hated them! (By the way, can you believe there’s now 13 Pokemon movies! :open_mouth: )

I thought the Yu-Gi-Oh! movie was terrible. It’s beginning storyline was ok and felt like a big screen adaption but the film just turned into another episode of the TV show. I was hyped up for this film though so I had to watch it and I also went to see the SpongeBob movie. It wasn’t bad, it’s was pretty good. However I don’t watch it as much now because I watched it too many times when I was younger.

The straight to DVD Atlantis sequel (subtitled Milo’s Return) was terrible, just like other Disney STV movies. It was apparently episodes of an Atlantis TV show that was never made put together into a movie. They shouldve just made the TV show instead!

I thought that Ice Age was boring (yes, the first one! :smiling_imp: ), but it was a good movie compared to the sequels! Same thing goes for Shrek. Liked the first movie, hated the sequels (I’m gonna use my money to see Toy Story 3, not Shrek Forever After, which is quite literally going in forever…).

I guess since we are talking about Alvin, I might as well talk about Garfield. It wasn’t the worst film ever, but it wasn’t certainly the best! They really screwed up what Odie would look like (because he’s a real dog instead of the cartoon one we knew about in the comics) and it was kinda dull. It was a bit enjoyable, but only a bit. I don’t have an opinion about the sequel because it’s been a while since I’ve seen that one.

Finally, I have to mention Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It was the worst animated movie I’ve ever seen (along with Alvin and the Chipmunks)! It was basically a longer episode of the TV show! They had another animated TV show about the Clone Wars which was shorter and much better than this movie. I’d rather go see the Star Wars prequels right now instead of seeing this! (as you can tell, I really like Star Wars  )

Awwww, but some of the newer ones are so good! totally loves Rise of Darkrai (There’s 12 movies though, actually, unless you count Mewtwo Returns, which was more of a TV special)

I’m sorry, Netbug but that’s my opinion. I’ve watched Rise of Darkrai, and it wasn’t too bad, but it wasn’t really that great either. However, they’re sort of enjoyable to watch, unlike Alvin and the Chipmunks!

Also, about that mistake that I said that there were 13 movies…blame Wikipedia! There was a page about it and I’ve now just found out that it’s not there anymore! So much for that. But, yeah, if you do include that TV movie, Mewtwo Returns, then there are 13 movies in total, so technically, I’m right! Thanks for pointing that out though, Netbug009!

No prob. A lot of the fans like to say it’s a movie because they’re all such Mewtwo fans. I’m not sure whether to appreciate the enthusiasm or gripe about them confusing people. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I thought Darkrai was amazing, but I love pokemon, especially well developed characters who are pokemon, so I’m probably rather bias. Nice to know it’s not as bad as Alvin and the Chipmunks though. xD

Thanks! Yeah, I was a Mewtwo fan, when I was younger, and I still am! To me he’s a powerful Pokemon, and it’s OK that you like Darkrai. My little brother likes him, too, so you’re not alone!

I never watched Alvin and the Chipmunks, by the way. I just saw the trailer and instantly knew it was going to be terrible! The sequel’s trailer however was torture, though! God, I hope I don’t have to watch the movie by force! :shake:

(I hope these posts aren’t wasting up the topic, guys)

Home on the Range and Brother Bear, I sure loathed both. It seemed to change Disney’s view on 2D animation.

Titanic… The Animated Musical…

Oh wait, and Legend of Titanic, the Korean animated film that the rapping dog Animated Musical was rip-off from. So the rapping dog version is a double rip-off premise making character rip-offs.

I seriously told my friend I would give him 5$ if he could sit through Titanic the Animated Musical on youtube (with me watching his reaction). He refused so I dared another friend. We did not have time to finish it, but she actually told me “it’s fun to spy all the Disney stuff in there”.

Oh. Wait. I had hoped this sunk away from my memory… In Search of Titanic, the sequel to the Legend of Titanic(find the proof at your own risk on Youtube).

Bangs head on wall This is not real. Bang We humans did not create this. Bang It does not exist. Bang, bang, bang The Nostalgia Critic said so Bang

I finally managed to get a copy of Titanic The Animated Movie off ebay! The box art is as crappy as you’d imagine.

I would have to say “Open Season 2” is the worst movie I have ever seen in my life!
