Oh no, Vi, I totally hear you on that one. I never get those on my page (very rarely, I’m not sure why), but when I do, I reply just because I don’t get that many. It can be very annoying when people do it a lot, though! However, if someone watches me, I usually make a point to go thanking them. C:
I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels that way… And, yeah, If I get a llama or a watch or anything like that, then I at least take the time to give out a llama. And I ALWAYS give them for faves on certain pictures of mine. But My favorite way to show gratitude is to comment on someone’s pictures. I know that’s what makes me most happy, so I’ll sometimes do it as a thank you to others. The “Tx 4 da fave,” doesn’t mean too much to me most of the time .
I so agree with this! I often wonder if people were always like that before the internet, but they didn’t have a way to express their feeling to the world.
There’s a great conversation going on in the comment section of an Internet article. Then some troll comes along. People take the bait and it completely derails the conversation.
Getting in somebody’s car that has trash in it.
Birds popping on my car not long after I wash it.
Somebody sitting next to me in a movie theater with assigned seating even though its just about empty because that’s their assigned seat.
Mariah Carey wasting her beautiful voice on songs like Triumphant.
Yeah, I used to be one of those whiny little morons. I was once an Anti-Disney fanatic because I hated Disney Channel and all their teen-pop garbage. I still do but I don’t pay much attention to it as much as I used to.
I really hate it that when a recent movie is critically acclaimed and well-received by critics (Avatar, Inception, 127 Hours, The Dark Knight Rises e.g) but if you look at later pages on the “Best Reviews” section of IMDb you’ll always find a bunch of close-minded users with different opinions who give the film negative reviews and for some bizarre reason, these are rated as helpful by other people. So just because a movie is recent, that means it’s bad? Sure you can’t beat the classics but good movies are still a reality.
Some negative reviews that people leave are grounded on their opinion and if the film didn’t work for them, I think they have a right to express their opinion. For example I hate Avatar and think it’s the most overated film of all time, but I do like the other films you mentioned.^^
But that’s just my 2 cents.
I don’t think most of them are actually bad as much as overrated.
In fact, my main feud is with Avatar, as I’m actually okay with the rest being held in the position they are.
But not Avatar. It’s by no means a terrible film, but I think it’s not a great one either. I see it as a conventional blockbuster, made to show the new set of technology he possessed.
Besides that, the craftsmanship is also conventional, and the script is so painfully conventional I would dare to say it’s bad, specially when Cameron admittedly spent 10 years developing it
So, yes, the effects were somewhat revolutionary (though I don’t think they hold a candle to the revolution that Star Wars made in 1977 or Jurassic Park in 1993, which were much more important milestones), but even the authenticity of the CGI is sometimes ruined by sub-par designs that make them look fake:
Of course, I don’t think any of those visual peeves are as important as the atrocities the script makes.
This is only my personal opinion of the film (but quite a common one), and it doesn’t mean I hate the film, as I think it’s decent. Just simply not deserving of the common rating it gets. I don’t see how it’s so different from most of the blockbusters that get slashed by the critics.
As I said before, though I’m no fan of any Cameron product, I think his other films are better rated, though I still have my reserves about some (His Aliens transformed the great Scott thriller into a conventional action film).
I also dislike his personality as seen in some of his interviews. He got arrogant. But of course, that doesn’t affects how I see his films.
I hate it when people don’t acknowledge other people’s opinions and act like they are wrong. Opinions are never wrong!! It’s so annoying when someone has a minority opinion and everyone bashes them.
You know what? MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY. I hate ignorant morons who say things like “if you like Dubstep then you must be retarded and that’s a fact”. Seriously? I don’t like Dubstep that much myself but calling someone a name just because they have a different opinion from you and acting like it’s factual is as narrow-minded as you can get!
Another thing that grinds my gears is when people don’t tell you something and then they lie and pretend that they did when you know they didn’t. They just want to avoid looking dumb and try to make you look like the one who is dumb. Seriously, just confess to a mistake when it happens.
I’ve become very interested in how to tell stories in movies and tv shows over the past year or so. So I love to see things from people like you, SoA, on the subject. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
Edit: Since I have been reading on the art of telling a story, I can see some of the flaws in James Cameron’s films. I can also see why their such a huge success. And even though I now see the flaws in Titanic, I still love it. And his attitude does keep me from liking him also. I’ll never forget the story about him, a crew members cellphone and a nail gun on the set of Avatar.
I’m SSSOOO mad right now!! There was a youtube channel that had all of the episodes of Mission Impossible, and I loved watching them on there, and now the account is gone!! Ugh, probably some stupid copyright thing.
I feel your pain. I hate when I discover that somebody has every episode of an old favorite of mine on YouTube, I start watching them, and they’re taken down soon after because of copyright infringement. What makes me even more upset is when the episodes were on YouTube for like two years before I started watching them.
I don’t like when somebody starts a conversation with me, then they start texting, and I can tell by how they reply to what I’m saying that their not listening!
YouTube and their copyright laws suck. They removed a South Park video of mine not once, but TWICE. On one of my accounts called Gst0395 and my other account xLizard0395x but they let it back up eventually. They still suck though, suspending some of the best YouTube users around.
I’m so glad the election is over. I’ve been getting really sick of moral issue arguing. People talk a lot about different moral issues on another forum I’m on (not just during elections), and I don’t even post in those anymore because they just make me so furious. Someone even said one of my beliefs “Didn’t make sense.” How rude is that??? Do theirs make sense to me? No. Do I say it to them? NO!!!
It might just be me, but I don’t care for the concept of debating. I personally don’t think opinions are for ripping apart and criticizing. I think those discussions should be each person saying their opinion and why they think so, listening to the other opinion(s), and just agreeing to disagree, and not fighting and challenging back and forth.
That’s what happened on one thread there. People were getting their opinions torn apart and they were defending them by saying “but it’s my opinion.” (rightfully so), and one of the people in charge told them to stop using that “excuse.” It’s not an excuse, and that’s the point!!! It is their opinion, and other people need to respect it.
