I hate it when a teacher dosen’t clarify you on how to write a paper and marks stuff wrong in it. It’s the job of the teacher to spell that out. If they don’t they’re not doing their job.
Seeing a blurb on the Internet for an article that catches my attention. I click on it, and its actually a video instead of an article. This is happening to me more and more as time goes on. I would prefer to read about something than watch a video. I usually end up not looking at it. Why can’t there be an article under the video for those of us who would prefer to read.
Agreed, that can be annoying from time to time.
What REALLY grinds my gears (or ears should I say) is mainstream pop music. I don’t think I need to say much, but I can’t stand any modern pop song that’s playing in the charts. Awful stuff.
Agreed. I can’t stand any of it.
Yeah, I don’t like pretty much any new music. There is a rare song once in awhile I’ll like, but not lately.
I feel like the new pop songs give the genre a bad name. It’s okay if you don’t like any pop at all, but there are older pop songs from the 70s, 80s, or before that which I really like, and I hate having them clumped with this other junk.
I don’t actually think I honestly enjoy pop music from any era, ever since it became “pop”.
Okay, I’ll finally admit something that’s always bothered me. I hate all of the excuses people use for indecency and rudeness, like:
-“It’s natural”
-“It’s art”
-“We all look the same”
-“You’ve seen it before”
It doesn’t matter. What’s rude is rude.
Just because something is natural or okay doesn’t mean it’s polite to do it or talk about it in public.
I’m probably the only person who feels this way, but I’m not sorry for saying it, and I’m not going to change what I say to cater to everyone. People will give the same old stupid arguments either way.
You mean indecent exposure?
Yes, stuff like that, and also anything suggestive, even if it’s just in conversation and not visual.
Oh yeah. I didn’t know what you meant at first. But I agree, I don’t like euphemisms or references to that stuff in conversation either. Especially dirty jokes.
Yeah, exactly.
Most people wouldn’t agree with everything I consider in that category, but I’m glad someone agrees at least in general. I was a little scared I would get people yelling at me.
There are some moral issues I just can’t talk about online because pretty much no one agrees with me. It’s really frustrating when other people can vent on threads like this, but I can’t about certain things because people will yell at me.
I’m sorry to hear hear that. I’m pretty traditional myself, and I don’t feel like I should discuss things like religion a lot, because people online think you’re an idiot if you even use certain words.
At least Pixar Planet is a far more welcoming forum than most when it comes to sharing those kinds of things!
I’m sorry Amy, I feel like that often.
Yes, it’s much easier to speak openly around here. Still probably a good idea not to get too excited about religion though. ![]()
I’m sure I’m not the only person who feels this way by any means, but what grinds my gears is when people cuss excessively in every day conversation. My distaste for cussing has nothing to do with a prude or naive viewpoint, because I understand the need to occasionally vent frustration, especially when one stubs their toe etc. But when its every other word in a casual conversation? I’m sure the person who is using that language is of the opinion that it makes them seem more cool, matcho, or grown up, but to me it makes them appear less intelligent and that they are in need of a broader vocabulary. Most people get annoyed by people who say “like” every other word or constantly say “um” or “you know” (word whiskers) but for me that is nothing compared to people who feel the need to inject as many f bombs as they can into a single sentence. Its even more disheartening when its a kid no older than 13 that is the one doing it. Really makes me lose hope in humanity if I allow myself to become that cynical. But really… people used to have more manners and class…
So to any youngsters reading this… read a book… a good and classic one, a lot of them, and pay attention in class… fill your brain with useful and insightful words that get your point across much more proficiently than any profanity can. It’ll make you look smart, and will make you look a lot more hirable when you go looking for a career as an adult.
That is all.
(This rant has been brought to you by: The girl who sounds like a grumpy old man screaming at kids to get off his lawn).
I agree! Personally, I try not to curse at all. I don’t expect others to do that, but some people need a vocab filter. Welcome to the boards!
Same here. I do hate cussing when talking, but sadly it’s too extended. It’s even what’s expected.
I hate it when I print out homework and I notice a spelling or grammer mistake.
Scarricature— I have to say I agree. I don’t have a problem with it in itself but it’s horribly unbecoming when people, especially kids/young teens feel the need to use one every other word. ![]()
I even think swearing can be pretty comedic when it’s interjected in the right instance with enough class, but people’s use of it is so liberal these days it doesn’t carry any weight by this point. Other than making you sound irrationally angry all the time.
I personally don’t think swearing is good at all, but I especially hate it when it’s obviously over the top and not fitting with the situation, like in certain movies. I can see why there would be swearing in a gangster movie or something (not that it makes it right), but when you put a bunch of it in more of a family movie, it doesn’t make sense.
I also hate the excuse “It’s just a word.” No, it has a meaning, and if it has an offensive meaning, you shouldn’t use it (unless it’s the original meaning, like the H word for the place). If we disregarded the meaning of every word and just used it for the sake of it, that takes away for whole purpose of language as communication.
