Shippers. Cross over shippers, slash shippers, femslash shippers, hero/villain shippers, I hate it. I am about to scream. If I see one more Snape/Harry, Gaston/Belle or Rapunzel/Hiccup post I’m going to jump off the roof. I can’t stand it! I really hate the internet. Especially all those tumblr reposts.
Thank you! They grind me gears too.
I’m just glad anyone agrees. Whenever I say something about it, I get attacked. Personally I find in almost every case characters are just fine the way there, whether they’re with someone or not. I find it disturbing to mess with the creator’s vision by pairing random characters. And honestly, I love characters who are friends. What’s wrong with friendship? But no, people always have to ship Lord of the Rings, thereby taking away everything that is great and special in it. And people refuse to believe Harry Potter and Hermione are friends. Why? That’s the point! And then we come to animated films, just I’m not going there. I just don’t see what’s wrong with a guy and a girl(or two guys, or two girls) being friends.
I hate the internet
I feel very related to that thought right now!
But we are at a fandom site, so there are probably some shippers around wanting to kill us for saying that ![]()
I wish I could go back in time, and never learn what “ship” meant. My life would be so much happier, and I’m sure I would be much more likable as a forum user. ![]()
What is a shipper?
Home video releases of movies that I love not having an audio commentary track. Children of Men is a movie that I recently sat down to watch again, wanting to listen to the directors audio commentary. I was very disappointed when I realized that there wasn’t one.
Disneys treatment of Gravity Falls. I thought the show was doing well. I wonder why does Disney go for such long periods of time without showing new episodes.
They are people who only get into fandoms to support romantic relationship among characters.
Namely characters who weren’t romantic with each other in the first place! And characters from two separate fandoms. How does that even work?!
People who look down at you because you’re younger than them (even when it has been proved that despite their experience they suck at everything)
.
Highly related to what I was going to say! I wish people didn’t discount or judge younger couples. I am not in my forties. I am pretty young. But why does that mean my relationship isn’t serious? Why does that mean it won’t last? Personally I think I’m mature enough to have a boyfriend. I wish people didn’t act like younger people don’t have the ability to feel love. It’s very condescending and disgusting to me at least.
Oh!
What I said was on a professional level, just to clarify ![]()
Sorry. What I posted I was going to say anyway, and then I saw yours. ![]()
The term “prayer warrior”. What dopes that even mean? I wish all these old ladies on facebook would stop asking their "prayer warriors"for help. Couldn’t you say “please pray for me”. I don’t get it.
^What the heck?
I’ve never heard of that but it sounds hilarious…
I think those are the people who pray a lot and maybe have lists of people to pray for or something. There is actually a thing at my church where the prayer requests of the church and the ones sent to the church are emailed to a list of people who sign up, so they pray for those people.
I just think it’s a bit obsessive and creepy. In my opinion, it is proving all those Christian stereotypes true! I pray for people who need it, but why make it an official planned thing? It just seems artificial to me.
Oh, I don’t mind it when people ask members of the church to pray for them or anything like that; our church does it, and often people fill in little forms when they visit with a prayer request. I’m just laughing at the term “prayer warrior”! Sound like a corny Christian cartoon or something. ![]()
I agree it’s okay to ask for prayers. I just dislike making it into a “thing”. Like, it’s not a job or an institution.
I know what you mean, but it’s nice if you have a prayer you want to be prayed for, that you can email the church and have a caring group of Christian people to pray for you. Maybe that’s not what you mean, though.
I don’t know what I mean.
I just hear the words Prayer Warrior, and think, "wow
"
Oh dear… I’m sorry for butting in here, but there’s absolutely no reason to be villainizing people who ship characters. ![]()
They’re not just people who are in it to pair up random characters at all. These people do exist, but they’re not as plentiful as the people who merely enjoy the idea of two characters being in love with each other. Also, it’s usually not random characters, haphazardly stuck together (that is what one would call a crack pairing), but there’s usually a lot of thought behind it, about which characters would go really well together and such! I ship at least three pairings from different media, but that doesn’t mean I disrespect the creators of the shows at all.
Alright, ranty mcrantrant is over. I’m sorry about this. D:
But you know what grinds my gears…? When fans of the modern My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic hate on the first generation of MLP and the people who like it. Well, excuse me, but I was a fan of My Little Pony when my classmates were saying I was childish for playing with them…!
