You know what really grinds my gears?

Good for you! It hasn’t been tough for me, I can see the problems with it better than most I guess. I imagine it’s more prevalent in Europe, which you should be proud of. But yeah, it’s a bit bold of me to say that, but it’s true. I think it’s really awesome when I find someone with that sort of resistance to peer pressure and conformity. I’ve tasted a beer, and some other stuff, but nothing else otherwise. Doing that stuff to myself just seems like a stupid idea. Sure, I get bugged about it from time to time, but that makes me even more proud of it.

I guess for you, it’s a bit different with an alcoholic father, I take it you learned from his mistake? At least he quit, that’s something.

No, I just don’t like the taste. :stuck_out_tongue: Like I said, I’m picky about what I consume.

I’m rather upset with these narrow-minded people who view women as 'freakin happy housemakers and beautiful, nearly nude models who run in multitudes surrounding one guy giggling and saying “OOH, HOT” like mindless idiots.

God, I am so sick of these magazines, advertisements, movies, and music videos that potray females like this. It’s just horrible.

Flo-Rida’s Sugar. Daa-da-be-dee-da-be-daa-da-be-dee-da-be-daa-da-be-dee-da-be-da…

I think Eiffel 65’s version is better.

People that have the nerve to get on youtube, click on a video, watch it, and then talk trash about people who watch it. I mean really, do they have nothing better to do than make fun of people who watch the videos the very person making fun of them wants to watch? If a video looks stupid, don’t click on the darn link! It’s funny that they insult people for clicking on the same link they wanted to click on.

AGREE. But everybody’s a critic.

Back at the topic: Somebody said Ratatouille is the worst Pixar movie ever!!! :imp:

That’s absurd, one of Pixar’s best movies. Did that person watch the whole movie, or is it one of those “critics” that think everything is crap?

So I was at a Hispanic friend’s house a while ago and was being introduced to her siblings. One of them asked what race I was and I stated that I was Asian. She asked if I spoke Chinese and I replied that I did not speak Chinese and that I was not Chinese, I was a Filipino. Then she said, “So you’re from Japan?”.

Sometimes ignorance can’t be helped, but I’m annoyed withthe people who associate a certain ethnicity with only one country. For example, whenever they think of Hispanics, they think of Mexicans. I’m pretty sure Ecuadorians, Brazilians, Peruvians, etc. where included in this. In my case, whenever I say I’m Asian at school or with acquaintances, people will automatically assume I’m Chinese. That really grinds my gears.

Yeah, Asians are usually stereotyped as Chinese or Japanese. Korean MAYBE, but not often.

And I also agree that Ratatouille is one of the best.

It annoys me when people talk up things, (movies, games, shows, whatever) that don’t really deserve all the hype. I’m not saying that they’re bad things (usually) but overglorified. Examples include Halo, Wall-E (don’t get me wrong, it’s a great movie, but it gets SO MUCH ATTENTION, and I think the overall plot fits a bit funny,…), and the worst, Hannah Montana, Jonas Brothers, and LORD, what is the DEAL with High School Musical! The last 3 are so TERRIBLE!!!

The three from the last one, agree.

FounderofAzn & ffdude1906: yeah. i felt that way too. there were friends on myspace, thought me that i’m chinese/japanese/korean. okay, maybe my late grandpa was chinese, but that don’t make me a chinese, do I? another Asian stereotype in the West was: How do you know our thing while we don’t know yours? and Do Asian country ‘exotic’ ?[which their mean that we don’t have any developed cities]

That seriously annoyed me. Come here in Asia and learn!!!

ffdude-True that. I think hype usually happens because one person is saying how great something is, and then another, and then another, and when another person is asked his/her opinion about something, he/she will also probably say it’s great (even if he/she thought it was okay). Mob mentality, much?

Very glad to see there are people who take notice of this. We really need to pull these people into the twenty-first century. Maybe some stereotypes apply to certain people, but not all of us. And China, Korea, and Japan are not the only Asian countries, have these people ever looked at a globe before? :unamused:

I was at the parking lot at a grocery, and there was an empty cigarette box and a Starbucks cup on the ground. I picked both of them up and some people in their cars were looking at me like I had just picked up a diseased rodent. Turned my back, headed to the grocery, threw the stuff in the trash can, and went on with my shopping. I picked up trash with my bare hands, so what? Better than a bird flying by, eating it, and dying or having the guys who are paid with tax payer money to come and pick it up.

Actually, in my area, there are a whole lot more Koreans then Chinese or Japanese. I think only one of my friends is Chinese, but she’s still half Korean. I know a few kids from Vietnam, too. Most don’t really specify their specific country, but we normally assume that they might be Korean since they are so common. Most of the time, they are. Still, we don’t say “So your from Korea?” Unless they confirm it. We don’t usually bring the country up. I don’t like to bring the ethinicity up at all.

Ya know how my aunt stole away my two cousins a while ago? Well, we found them, she has a house (not that she can afford one) and I’ve seen her and them a bunch of times.

Well, we were at my older cousin’s gradutation party, and my dad overheard my little cousin saying that my aunt might send them to one of the worst school systems in the state.

Is she crazy!? On of them even has a learning disorder! Why do parents never think of these things? My parents moved from a not-so-good school area to the one I’m in now so my sisters and I could have a decent education. It’s very important when buying a house! Yeah, that house might be nice and cheap, but if the schools are dumps and the environment is horrible then maybe it isn’t a good choice!

Also, my oldest sister is being very irritable lately. She’s been in front of her computer 24/7 for the last week because she’s looking for a job.

It irks me when girls or women dress provocatively especially if they are wearing clothing that are unsuitable for their body type. As a mother, I abhor halter tops and short shorts for girls; as a woman I don’t think that women should reveal too much of their bodies unless they want attention (usually bad).

Mind you, I’m not being prudish or anything but I think women should dress nicely and the confidence would follow.

Another thing that bothers me is the popping/snapping of the gum. I would silently wish that the person would slowly suffocate because it’s so annoying! There’s plenty more but that’s it for now!

There are certain types of people in this world that just piss me off to no end, like the type of people who come up to you and ask you for advice, and then when you give them advice they don’t take the advice. They just come back to you a week later and they’re like (with altered tone of voice) “I can’t believe how everything turned out so wrong.” You want to no why everything turned out so wrong? Because you didn’t take my advice and you’re freaking stupid. That’s what went wrong; you didn’t listen to me. I know all.

The other type of person I particularly hate are those insignificant peons who just have to validate themselves by being in a relationship. You know what? It’s pathetic, it’s weak minded and you show no inner strength whatsoever. Get over the girlfriend, get over the boyfriend or whatever the heck you’re yearning for and live your freaking life.

I’m annoyed with my inability to control when I cry. When something that upsets me happens in about two seconds, I don’t want to cry, but the tears just come out before I can even think about it. Then it’s followed up by the sobs and the sniffles and finally the erractic breathing which brings about a hurting chest. I feel like my body does this on its own and my mind has no say in its actions whatsoever.

A little annoyed with one of my grandfathers. He forgets things, makes up strange words (like combining morbid and portabello =/), and laughs when nothing funny has happened. I know I’m supposed to be tolerant of geriatric behavior, but it does grind my gears at points.

GRRR! I just spent like an hour typing up this long, thought out post for a new thread, and the next thing I know, something’s glitched up and the whole thing’s just GONE before I can post it. AHHH! :imp:

I’ve experienced that sort of lack of control before azn, it’s really exhausting, and kinda scary. I used to have chronic emotional meltdowns in jr.high, that was a really dark time for me,…

It makes me really mad when people make fun of you or tease you about something, and about 30 minutes later, you do the same thing to them, and they get FURIOUS at you, people that can’t take what they dish out, that sort of thing. I mean really, if you’re gonna criticize someone, make sure you’d be able to handle being in that person’s shoes, it’s so much worse when they disregard their position, although making fun of someone is bad enough. I mean, they can be sarcastic and witty, and I can’t? Pretty unfair.

I’m sorry you had that before ffdude. Glad you recovered though, and hopfully I can get over this one weakness.

This is going to sound child-ish, but I’m annoyed with how the posts are being edited with full titles of words of art/literature/music/etc. when someone just put in an abbreviation of it, whoever keeps italicizing the posts, and the spelling.

It’s like I’m a student who’s having her work edited by a language composistion teacher. I thought with posting on the internet, you could be informal because, pffft, it’s the internet, and as long as the post isn’t unbearably unreadable, it should be left as is. I’ll save my grammar for papers, resumes, schoolwork, and other important real-life documents, not my posts on a fan site for an animation company.

Well, I’m done. Go get your grammar stick whoever does that. :unamused:

I know what you mean. Nobody is too old for Pixar movies!!! I’m 26 and I’ve have grown up with Pixar since the sixth grade when Toy Story came out. Pixar’s writing is often more sophisticated then any of the other films released during the year. This is especially true in 2008 with all the dumbed down actiony movie like X-men, Terminator, and don’t get me started on Transformers. In fact animation is my favorite medium for entertainment.

There are a few Firefox extensions for this annoyance. I use Session Manager myself.

Is your post being edited by one of the moderators? If so, then you should really have messaged one of the full-time moderators to let us know, or we can talk about it in private the limits of what should and shouldn’t be edited, particularly if it’s fan fiction, where I try to leave it as is. This is why I asked in the rules that you message us when you have an issue, rather than write comments in threads because we simply don’t see it when you do that, and it is a bit rude.

But remember that we do edit posts sometimes for clarity for other readers, and you should really try your best to type so people can understand it, especially as there are members here who use English as a second language.
