You know what really grinds my gears?
When people steal ideas from me. It happens all the time, usually in English class when we’re writing stories. I’ll have a great idea, but then I’ll be foolish enough to tell that idea to my friend. She’ll take it and write the story, and I’ll have nothing.
This same friend has told me I look like I’m 10, that I can’t “pull off” my favourite pair of jeans, and she’s called my cat fat. All of it non-jokingly.
But I’ve been friends with her since I was 3, what can I do?
Awww… sorry if I offended you Virginia. Usually I spell out member’s names (with some exceptions like little_chef, TSS, Bryko or others which I use interchangeably depending on my laziness or degree of closeness). I suppose it sounds a little condescending if someone is called by their full name, like ‘John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt’. Would 'IV" be better? (It’d be easier for me too, since it’s only two letters! )
rockitpop: Are you sure you should truly consider this person your friend? If you still do, maybe try telling her in a nice way that what she is doing is upsetting you and that you would feel better if she acted this way, that way, etc. If she is indeed a buddy, she would understand and change accordingly. Give it a go!
I wasn’t referring specifically to you, TDIT, although yes, I love IV. It fits me better, and when people call me IncredigirlVirginia, I get the paranoid feeling that they’re trying to chew me out or that I’m being scolded.
EDIT: EJE, I agree. Arrogant people are the worst(except the animated ones.)
rock-itpop, I’m sorry to hear about your friend. Hopefully she’ll stop.
When you just trying to protect a friend or your caring for them and they think your just trying to keep them from having fun but your not your just worried about them.
Yeah, I also apologise if I’ve offended you, IV. It’s just that usernames on the internet don’t usually work in the same way that people’s names do in real life, and as you hadn’t mentioned it before, it wasn’t apparent to me that by calling you by your username, you’d be offended. I’ll remember in future.
What annoys me is when people set off fire alarms in halls. At 4.30am. After a very late night out.
We’d all had such a great night, with pre-drinks in our flat and eventually around thirty people milling in and out of our kitchen- there was a great atmosphere! We were all dressed up in school uniform attire (as there was a school disco later on that night) and alcohol and laughs were abound. Well, maybe too much alcohol. By the time we all stagger back to our halls at 3am, we very ready to get some sleep. And then some idiot sets off the fire alarms and we have to stand outside for an hour in our PJs in the freezing cold. Not good.
I’ve seen it quite a lot in videos with Steve Irwin latley (the comments) but I hate people who say “Why cry over losing a pet? It’s just an animal, get another one!” like it’s replacing a 360 that’s red ringed or something with no regard for the fact pets become like family to people
It’s like they are totally devoid of empathy or a heart for other people =/
I totally agree with that! People don’t understand the attached personal feelings we develop for our pets, telling us to go replace one and get over it is almost like saying “go replace your grandpa if you lost him”.
Leon, I feel you on that. My dog Spot(wow, creative name… ) was thrown out by my dad when I was seven, and I never loved another animal until we got my dog Napoleon 3 years ago.
This whole idea that some people have that being religious means you’re stupid. Its not even that many atheists who say that, but there’s enough for me to get really tired of it. Yeah, I believe in God. No, that does not make you better than me nor does it mean that I can’t “think critically” or don’t think for myself.
I see what you mean Rac_Rules. I understand how you feel, I was raised Christian and in my younger years was Christian. Back when I labeled myself as a Christian, a lot of people looked down on me. More people need to learn respect and love, you know? That’s what Jesus taught, and wheter you believed he was the son of God or not, he was a very great philosopher.
It’s aggravating being of any religion or philosophy and others harass you. But to each their own.
