You know what really grinds my gears?

Being ill. People. Stupid people. Chicken. My male parental unit.

These are a few of my least favorite things

People who don’t believe in god or don’t think there is a god, anto…something whatever you call them… :-\

Sorry I grind you gears then. But i do respect others beliefs and i don’t tease them about them.

It’s not really teasing,it’s,when people say things based on being blind and when they go along with popular opinion, that’s ok if you believe that but I just think it does not make sense to say that there is no god…

I’d love to tell you why but the board allows no subjects on religion.

Well, I’m okay with Athiests and Agnostics as long as they don’t hold the belief that disagreeing with them makes others stupid or less than them. I try to bear this respect for them, and hope they hold such decency. I’ve never had that problem around here; people are usually very nice and open to others’ beliefs and opinions. Besides, it’s just as annoying to nonreligious people when Christians and Muslims are mean or look down on them. What? I’m just saying…

My parents are actually Jehovah Witnesses. But i’ve told them i want no part of it. and left it at that and thanks Virginia.

Ah, I have a friend named Tatiana who’s a Jehovah’s Witness. And it’s no problem, Mopar.

:open_mouth: mopar we need to talk…

Pm me

I’m an agnostic. I believe in God, but also believe the world was formed by the big bang. And I actually respect other people’s beliefs.

Good. I just get tired of people(on both sides) thinking others are stupid for disagreeing with them. I believe in Evolution, but I believe it’s caused by god. I think nonreligious people make good points, but they don’t go against the bible unless you’re a ridiculous fundamentalist.

Right. Way too many people get turned off by the Christian religion if followers of it act judgmental or mean. :frowning: I know many people that avoided it because they’d had bad experiences with Christians in the past.

The animal or the food?

Leirin: I understand what you are saying. I was raised Lutheran, and was even Confirmed in middle school. Growing up, it was very unpopular to be religious, unfortunetly. If you say you are Christian, a lot of times one is assumed to be a part of the fundamentilist hardcore Christians. It is a shame really, because Christianity is such a diverse religion, with many different sects, each with their own interpretations of the Bible and ideas of how to worship their God.

EJE, I meant the food. I have nothing against the birds–as long as they’re alive. And I agree, we are stereotyped a lot. But then, I guess everyone is…

I’m an agnostic myself, but I do lean a little bit more towards being athiest, I do believe there could be a higher being, but I don’t think it’s one of the ones from any organised religion.

Religion aside. We are all human, and should respect ones means of life and beliefs.

What grinds my gears? Not fully pressing in the clutch. (joke) lol

No actually, when in the city walking down the street, some guys just staring at girls no matter what there age is.

Strangely enough, the assignment I’m working on right now is a feature article on religious organisations in my uni. Way to go TDIT, you had to pick the scariest topic on Earth to base this semester’s grades on… :unamused:

On a happier note, I did learn a lot about the Muslim, Christian and Buddhist faiths in the last month than I did in my entire life!

That’s cool, thedriveintheatre. I love learning about other religions, and it really does bug me when people judge other people on their faith. The only time I’ve ever even remotely had such thoughts was when I’d landed in Qatar (a country in the Middle East), halfway through my journey to Bangkok, and being in a predominantly Muslim country as a white person is quite intimidating- especially as I was wearing a dress with bare legs at the time. It wasn’t exactly a revealing dress, but I was surrounded by women covered head to toe in those traditional clothes (the word ‘hijab’ rings a bell, though someone correct me if I’m wrong) and some of them even had their faces covered, so I felt practically naked in comparison.

It just seems like such an extreme form of religion and I’m not sure I was comfortable about it, if I’m honest. Not that they’re horrible people, because I’m sure they’re not, but it’s natural to feel uncomfortable in such a situation.

Anyway, I’ve gone right off topic now…You know what else annoys me? When you revise for an exam and then the stuff you’ve revised isn’t on the paper.

^ A hijab is just the head covering, not the full body. I’m not sure what the full body is called (My Muslim friend doesn’t even know. To quote her: “I dunno, I just pray in it sometimes. And its awesome because then I can wear pajamas to the mosque, and no one will know!” Yeah, she’s hilarious.)

People of other religions don’t bug me (My little group of friends is pretty darn religiously diverse. We have about 3 Christians of different denominations, a Muslim, an Atheist, an Agnostic, and a Mormon-turned-Wiccan.) what bugs me is the all too often attitude of Atheists (and Theists, if you switch it around a bit) that “Atheists are the intelligent people in this world. Being Atheist automatically makes you smarter than the theists who just can’t see the world for what it truly is, and they instead worship sky fairies.” I despise pretentiousness. And guess what? Both of my parents are scientists (pretty good ones too) and they are both religious.

But the reason we banned religious talk from the boards was that there used to be a board called “Evolution vs. Creationism,” which eventually grew into “Christianity and Why It Does (Or Doesn’t) Suck.” Plus, many posters seemed to be under the wrong impression that “debate” means “anything goes, including insults. Its okay because its a debate!”
