EJE: Ah. I was just wondering. I have a friend who is a veggie and she eats chicken, but I don’t know how people decide these things. I think Vegetarianism is kind of silly anyway. Over millions of years, the human brain got larger as we ate more meat. I think that’s pretty interesting.
I know, lots of people I say they’re vegetarians because it’s ‘healthier’. Some of the sickest people I know were Vegetarians. Also I think it’s silly to seperate meat from plants. To me all plants and animals have a soul, and eating them is just part of different species diets. So I don’t understand vegetarianism, but I accept that’s is other people’s choices, not mine. My prom date was a vegetarian!
Ah, that makes sense. I try not to pry so much, and be more curious than judgemental. But I still judge people subconciously and am working on that.
Anyway, one thing that annoys me is how my posts on the movie thread continually keep evaporating. I’m also very aggravated at a person, but I can’t say more than that.
(sigh), Had a good and bad day today, if you guys read on my Current mood page. But one of the reasons I had a bad day today is because someone i talk with all of the time, someone I once considered an amazing friend, well, how to say it… I found out the he hates me. But what really grinded my gears more than anything is that he went and talked stuff about me behind my back, and I just figured this out.
What I’ve noticed is that that’s happened to only certain posters and not to others, I wonder why that is.
I know! At first I thought one of the moderators was mad at me. : / I wish it would end now.
Vegetarians do not grind my gears. But they do confuse me as to what kinds of vegetarianism they go with. I have a vegetarian friend who eats eggs but not fish, which confused me because eggs are hatched by chicken’s and they were a living thing. I’m not sure how fish qualifies in the vegetarian part, but, vegetarian isn’t as strict on the whole vegetables thing as herbivores, or the human term, vegans.
You know what really grinds my gears?
The Rich People, or more specifically, how the Rich People spend their money.
The way I see it, something needs to die (like certain plants or animals) or manipulated (like other types of plants, eggs, honey) or another living thing to continue to live. I don’t care if it’s a cow, or part of a vegetable plant. I just care if it tastes good.
It annoys me when people feel unwanted because of the immaturity of others. Really? Can’t we all just be friends, regardless of which movie we like? God, this is like kindergarten.
My younger brother has been grinding my gears lately because I can’t play any of my video games or watch tv without him talking. It is annoying.
I would like to assure you that we have no rogue Moderators here in this forum. Including me. I have had some of my posts mysteriously disappear for some reason as well. I think this is a site bug.
…
Okay, I know I’ve never said anything negative in this post before, but I guess there’s always a first time. So what grinds my gears? I like to think of myself as a multiculturalist, but the behaviour of some of my Chinese friends in Australia annoy me. They are studying in an English-language university, but they can’t write essays and always ask me for help. I give them some, and then they ask me to help write the darn thing. I flatly refuse, and then I usually give in when they ask me to correct their drafts.
This is very infuriating, because on the one hand, I’m flattered that they think I have a strong command of English, and I also feel obligated to help my buds out. But on the other hand, they are taking up my time, when I can have more time either to go out with them for leisure activities, or for me to finish my assignments, or for me to indulge in my time here and doing fanwork.
If the only times I meet them is just to help with their homework, the relationship starts to suck. Friends are supposed to have fun too, you know. So why do you come to Australia if you can’t be bothered to mix with the locals or practise more English?
I’m not saying they should give up their culture altogether. That would be an ‘integration’ measure, and I hate that kind of political ideology cos’ that results in homogenised, boring cultures with little diversity. Bring a little of your own homeland to the table. I don’t mind eating at Chinese restaurants with you, or speaking broken Mandarin, or watching some Japanese drama even if you’re Chinese. But again, why do you come to Australia? Have you been to an Aussie pub, or watched at least one footy match on telly, or have at least one friend of another race? No, you never go out, you watch your K-drama or Japanese anime, and all your friends are from Taiwan or Hong Kong.
It’s like some tour mates I have when my family goes on vacations. We get in a tour bus and go visit some exotic place like Paris or California or South Africa. And then when we arrive, the tour guide takes us to a local eatery where they serve the national delicacy. Food and song and dance where you can’t experience anywhere else. And what do these bozos do? They complain. They ask “Why can’t we have some Singaporean food here (and by Singaporean, they mean ‘Chinese’)? I want my Hainan chicken rice, this food here sucks.” It’s not an exact quote, but they say something to that effect. And that breaks my heart and makes me mad. What’s the point of traveling and living overseas if you’ve never left your home country in your mind?
You know what grinds my brother’s gears?
‘Ankle Biters’.
That Columbian (I think) lady from Modern Family. My folks are watching it in the next room and her wailing is really getting on my nerves
My family is very annoying. I can’t watch my favorite TV shows without them talking louder than the tv. It’s called courtesy people. You never do it in the movies, so please don’t do it at home.
Didn’t you say you loved your family? Or were you referring to your PP family?
He didn’t say he hated them. He said they were being annoying. My best friends and family are annoying sometimes too, but I still love them.
I feel bothered when I see people who spell the movie’s name as “Up!”, with an exclamation mark.
It’s simply “Up”
I know! Some people! like explination! marks too! much!
Woah? Most of the characters on that show annoy me, but she especially does.
Nah i would never hate my family. They can just be annoying sometimes. But I’ll always love them.
