-hugs you- Actually, just the image we’re projecting onto the rest of the world bugs me. Right now we’re presenting ourselves as not the Land of the Free, but the land of…the land of…selfish…selfish…cowards. Sure, other countries have their faults, but they aren’t as clearly pronounced as our faults are.
You’re right on that, the image projected is much different from what it should be which is very unfortunate…
Like yesterday…I read an article about Obama visiting Ireland and having a Guinness, and do you know what people said? That he wasn’t fit to be president because he drank, and that he was off in Ireland drinking his merry way around our issues. HELLO, BUSH HAD A WHOLE FARM AND HE DRANK ALL THE TIME, NO ONE COMPLAINED ABOUT HIM DRINKING! But when Obama drinks and decides to have fun, it’s “the black superhero gets caught” syndrome.
Yup. That’s society for you. They can find a way to pick anybody apart. It is ridiculous.
You knew about it? I was so mad afterwards…
I didn’t know about it but I did know he was in Ireland for a bit. And it really doesn’t surprise me that people are saying things like that. It is so disrespectful! There are too many no-good people in this world really.
I also hate animation companies that were originally awesome but then sold out (ex: Cartoon Network, subjectively Pixar, Nickelodeon) because you have to look back on their former glory every time you see a work of theirs. Like five minutes ago I just saw a commercial for Juicy Juice with Cars characters on it, thinking: Geezle Peetzus, how long was Cars? And isn’t Juicy-Juice boxes/commercials a little too far? Same with Spongebob and Nick, Cartoon Network and Scooby Doo. It just annoys me how I grew up with these things, and to see them cave into pressure marketing makes it sound like they don’t care about quality anymore.
Agreed. I happen to find it quite funny though seeing the characters of Cars in the form of chewy candy things though. My brother has got kids shampoo with a big picture of Sally on it…it makes getting in the shower kind of awkward. On a serious note though, I know what you are saying. Commercialization and marketing these days is extremely annoying. But that’s because our entire world revolves around money these days.

I never thought Pixar would resort to annoying merchandise to shill Cars 2. Heck, I’d rather they shilled Monsters Inc 2 or Brave, not this…or even have viral videos like Tangled does.
Well, remember the marketing is a responsibility of Disney, not Pixar.
So they’re not to blame.
I forgot.
LOL, SOA makes a good point there. I think we tend to forget that alot…forgive me Pixar. Merchandise and advertising, the whole deal, has gotten out of control in general though, not just when it comes to movies. Everything these days…
Marketing needs to slow…but when will it ever?
If there were any good U.S. citizens here, I know many from here…
Sullymike, please don’t feel bad. It’s not your fault we got into an argument. Personally, people think I’m an ignorant idiotic jerk not matter what, so it has nothing to do with one person. We all did this to ourselves. And if it helps any, I won’t post here anymore. Opinions are only good if you can share them, and as usual, nobody cares about mine. I’ve just started another fire. I am sorry, guys. I really am.
That’s okay, sweetie…exams wore me out and I had to argue about something–politics was the last thing on my mind today–so poof! there it was.
As I’ve said before. There are selfish and cowardly people in every country, this post is invalid in my opinion. Americans are known to be selfish. what about other horrible sterotypes about other people in other countries. Remember, 200 years ago the English were the worlds Police. The Sun never set in the British Empire. Remember the Romans? The Greeks? Right now America is the ‘World Power’. In another century, it’ll probably be another country, most likely China at this rate.
Okay, I admit it, I admit it…I’m wrong…well, not totally wrong, but wrong. There. Done.
This sudden complication between the PP members is grinding my gears.
I know everybody has their own mirror to look at the world, and what they see in the reflection may not be something we like, but look a little closer in that mirror and see behind you, all the great people here on Pixar Planet? Sure, not every country is perfect in it’s own way, i’m pretty sure there are some self loather’s at China or Pakistan for sure, but somewhere, deep within the misery and hatred and corruption of many, there are few that are great and good souls. I’m pretty abhorred by how our government runs too, but when you look in that mirror the wrong way, you’ll be only looking at a reflection of yourself.

Good point.
Thanks. Need to start talking about something else.
The new semester schedule next year is grinding my gears.
