I think one
reason why Cars didn’t really blow people away was because of two factors, one
being the characters and the other being the human-car “relationship”.
The characters, to me,
didn’t seem as intriguing or “loveable” as those in, say, Toy Story or
Finding Nemo. Believe me, it has nothing to do with their metallic bodies – heh.
It’s just that their personalities were…I dunno…not as “strong”, I suppose. Don’t ask me why,
as I can’t quite explain it myself.
As for the second topic, well…I guess people just can’t relate to
cars as much as other inanimate objects. Toy Story - everyone played with toys as a
kid; A Bug’s Life - we’ve all interacted with a bug at one point or other;
Monsters Inc. - most kids have a fear of monsters; Finding
Nemo - fish are part of our life, in a sense; The Incredibles -
they’re people…so it’s pretty self-explainatory.
But cars? Well, we drive in them everyday and we see
them everywhere, but we can’t really relate to them as living beings. Toys is another matter – we love them so
much that they seem real to us. Even Ratatouille seems more realistic than
Cars, as we know what rats and what their relation to us is.
But yeah – I
don’t know. ![]()
Gasduude - Haha – I like your class system! Too bad
Finding Nemo is at the bottom of your list, though. Oh well… It’s your list.
