Your Favourite Non-Animated Films

Although we’ve

discussed our favourite animated films, both inside and outside of Pixar, as far as I can remember, we haven’t

actually discussed our favourite films generally, including live action.

So, what’s your favourite film

(or films, if you really can’t decide), and why?

It’s a tough choice, but I’d say my favorite live-action film is Apollo 13.

It’s an incredible, inspiring story, and as a film it’s quite a well-done piece of cinematics. I did a paper

on it last year in English class, so I really had to take a good, hard look at all that there really is behind

the movie, and I became I guess enamored with the film.

Plus it’s got Tom Hanks. I always thought that

it was funny that there were two movies in 1995 with Tom Hanks in them, in one of which he played a spaceman and

in the other of which he played opposite a spaceman.

i’ve got a few :

Mrs.Doubtfire - Robin Williams = funny

Robin Williams in an old lady suit = priceless

Drop Dead Fred - You’ve got an imaginary friend who’s

really cocky and with a british accent . what’s not to love ?

Talledega Nights- It’s funny , in a really

bad way .

Flubber - When Weebo dies , it just makes me want to cry . ( hey that kind of rhymes )

Here’s a list of a few non-animated

favourites of mine:

Amadeus - I love classical music, and I loved how the characters were portrayed in

this film. While the characterization isn’t always accurate (like Salieri’s), I agreed with the costume design

and make-up. Wonderful acting, and they portrayed Mozart’s life in an interesting way. Definitely a

must-see.

The Natural - I’m a growing baseball fan, and I loved this film. The music was incredible

(scored by Randy Newman… what can I say? hehe) and the ending almost brought tears to my eyes. I liked the

symbolism with the female characters… very well done.

Blow-Up - Something you’d expect to see in a film

studies class. I watched this in my Film & Photography class. While the majority of my class didn’t like it,

I adored it. I loved the idea of trying to establish reality, and this movie was filled with all these fun hints

that makes you want to watch it a second time. We had all these great discussions in class about what was real in

the movie and what wasn’t, and everybody seemed to have their own different opinion about what they saw. And

again, a great ending… not everyone will agree with me on that, but I was truly in awe by the end. If you’re

interested in becoming a film director, be sure to check out Antonioni’s work.

Vertigo - I love Hitchcock

films, and this is one of my favourites. The music in the beginning really gets you into it (Bernard Herrmann did

the score… another favourite film composer of mine) and the story is really interesting. It’s a bit hard for me

to explain this film, and you might need to see it a second time in order to catch some things (which I had to

do), but it’s way worth it. Hitchcock is the master at simple but effective endings.

Dracula - I’m

talking about the 1931 version, with Bela Lugosi. In my opinion, he portrayed the best Dracula on screen yet. I

also loved Edward Van Sloan (who played Van Helsing). It’s a very old film, so you might laugh at the effects,

but the acting is just wonderful. The fact that the film has no music also gives it a very eery atmosphere at

times. It’s worth a look if you’re looking for classics.

If you’ve seen any of these films, let me know

what you think of them.

I like Pirates of the Carribean, First Knight, Narnia, any movie that has action and

adventure.

Aggie- I’ve seen

Dracula, as I had to write an essay comparing it with Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I did quite enjoy

it, but I really do not like classic films, so I ended up laughing at the so-called special effects throughout

the film. It wasn’t bad, though.

I think my favourite film ever just has to be Artificial Intelligence.

The acting, especially on Haley Joel Osment’s part, is phenomenal, and it always makes me cry. It just has this

strange atmosphere about it that I really enjoy.

I’ve only recently watched a film that has actually

become another favourite of mine- The Big Lebowski. It’s just so funny in such a strange, quirky way.

CARS!!! CARS!!! I’m cuckco for CARS!!! Yay!! ;-o

Carfreak, this

is a question about your favorite non-animated film.

Opps!My bad that’s an animated

movie! sorry yall!

LG: Yea, The Big Lebowski

kinda grew on me too, especially after seeing the MI parody on YT. 8D I’m crazy over comedy ;-o I loved the

Naked Gun series, the Rush Hour duo, the Shanghi duo and how could I forget Mr. Magoo (the movie)! All Hilarious

8D

There’s prolly plenty more but that’s all I could come up wit for now.

non-animated eh? Hmmm…

The Court Jester
Superman: The movie
Superman II
Ghostbusters
Back

to the Future Trilogy
Die Hard Trilogy
Terminator 2
Groundhog Day
Independence Day
The Truman

Show
The Fifth Element
S1m0ne
The Lord of the Rings: Extended Edition Trilogy
The King and the

Clown (Korean Flim)

Don’t blame yourself ! It looks too real to be fake ! lol

Serenity - Written and directed by Joss Whedon. Yes, if

you were wondering, he is the guy who John Lasseter brought in to work on the script for Toy Story (and was

nominated for an Academy Award for it). In fact, in the little universe of the movie and the TV show that came

before it (Firefly), the first model of a laser gun is called the “Lasseter”. It’s kind of like

cowboys in space, very OT Star Wars without aliens or robots.

Help! The Beatles second movie. Best movie

ever! Why? Well it’s the Beatles of course! made in 1965. in color! yay! Plus they all look so great in it and

the music is wonderful, there are some really funny lines in it and the plot is just so kooky, it’s awesome! And

I just cant get enough of John in that movie. I like it better than their first one, A Hard Days Night (although

that one IS a classic)

I usually am a

sucker for musicals. Because I love performing <3

Amadeus
- because I

love the music and I love Tom Hulce

Wizard of OZ- I know it’s corny but I

just love the classics.

Godspell- because I played a part in it on stage as

my first performance, and the film version rocks my world.

Phantom of the

Opera- the music, the storyline- everything about it, I love. And one of my idols plays in it,

which was really my cause for seeing it, and it turned out to be an incredible film

overall.

Chicago- didn’t see the film version until very recently and though

it’s not an alltime fave it’s still cool :sunglasses:

RENT- though the stage

version is way better, the film is complementary to its roots.

Wind in the

Willows- because I love the Pythons and Coogan and Williamson.

Grease- it’s beginning to annoy me at the moment since my littlest sister

has developed an obsession for it, therefore it is heard running through my head day and night … but otherwise,

'tis a great film.

The Producers- I love the older version with Wilder

better. The new one was … ehh … decent, I suppose, but Broderick could’ve been so much

better.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail/Meaning of Life- I’m a sucker for

ANYTHING involving the Pythons.

And … I believe that’s it for now …

Pirates of the Caribbean fo’

sho’. And I’m not one of those kids that like it just cause it’s popular… (those kids BUGGGG me).

*Godspell - taught me everything I know about religion. And skipping. :sunglasses:
*Around

the World in 80 Days - underappreciated and awesome
*Merlin - also underappreciated and awesome (but only if

you have a long attention span, 'cause I have to watch it one hour at a time.)
*Labyrinth - because David’s

good in tights  and muppets rock.
*Wind in the Willows - because Steve Coogan’s high voice makes me

giggle. :stuck_out_tongue:
*Rocky Horror Picture Show - because Tim Curry’s cool as a … what he is in the film.

^^;
*Legend - best film with unicorns
*Return to OZ - 'cause I’m a wheeler!

I probably have more

but that’s all I can come up with for now …

Oh, I forgot Narnia as well! I love the action and

adventure. The battle scene kept me on the edge of my seat.

My favorite non-animated films

are Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Honey I Shrunk The Kids,

Gremlins 2, Jurassic Park, Men In

Black, and all of the Harry Potter movies…to name a

few.

~~=oP

I love Dr. Ian

Malcolm from Jurassic Park. His quirky little one-liners always make me laugh.

As does the film

Trains, Plains and Automobiles. Steve Martin at his best!

And, despite its horrendous reviews and

reputation, I’ve always had a soft spot for Armageddon. The characters are all so extreme and stereotyped that

they do actually become funny, IMO, and the ridiculous concept kind of carries you through the film.
