Your Friend the Rat

Arr, can’t wait until it’s out here…

I can’t wait till they can teleport you stuff you buy online. :stuck_out_tongue:

waits impatiently

I was actually thinking that the other day. It would certainly save me a lot of postage.

Watching the short on a continuous loop has paid off. I spotted WALL•E!

PV- That is SO cool! Thanks for showing us!

Alright, I’ll have to admit that this particular short was hilariously awesome. The additon of 2D animation, a small bout of stop-motion animation, and a 50s-style flavor all makes for one entertaining little thing-a-ma-bob. Plus, it was informative, which is just…genious!! You can tell that the Pixar animators had a great time producing this little treasure box, especially regardiing the whole “Black Plague” deal.

Oh, and I love that bit where [spoil]they animated this little computer game-type clip where a Canadian guy is bouncing all of these incoming rats off of his soil.[/spoil] Oh, and the ending was hilarious, too. [spoil]“I’m surprised that I’m surprised.” - Remy[/spoil] :stuck_out_tongue:  (snigger)

[b]Man[/b], I love this stuff!

PV - Puh-HA!! That’s hilarious!! Nice spotting…

– Mitch

Haha, the song they sing at the end is halarious to me. It makes me laugh :stuck_out_tongue: And it’s very catchy…

I LOVE the song! I almost have it memorized. The words get fuzzy at “Imagine if you will, a world…”, but I can sing the end.

Have you ever watched Disney’s animated documentary It’s Tough to Be a Bird? VERY similar to Your Friend the Rat. Granted it’s from the late 60s, but, close enough. Heheh.

PV - I’ve never heard it of, which is saddening… What kind of a Disney fan am I? :stuck_out_tongue:

– Mitch

Hey, it’s old, dude. I only know about it because my parents happened to record it for me when I was a kid.

This is an eBay image, but it’s all I could find.

~~=oP

PV: Oh wow, I would have never caught that with my own eyes. Nice spotting.

It wasn’t really what I was expecting, but boy was it great.

I absolutely went nuts at the end, [spoil]when Remy and Emile become annoyed at the disclaimers.[/spoil] Gosh that had me rolling.

8.5/10.

Aaha, yeah, that part was halarious. My sister and I were cracking up :stuck_out_tongue:

Funniest…line…period:

[spoil]“It doesn’t go from rats and darkness to rats and death skulls!!”[/spoil]

Well I did catch it while it was on YouTube. Although it’s not my favourite Pixar short (as has been discussed before, it’s like picking a favourite child), it was certainly one of the most creative ones I have seen.

I was reading on Nate Wragg’s blog that it took him 13 hours to animate…[spoil]that chalkboarded sequence on an actual chalk board towards the end of the short. He swears he was coughing chalk dust for 2 days afterwards.[/spoil]

PV - Hmm. Interesting. I’ll have to look into that short.

Thanks for the picture.

Ha! Wow. Cool. Poor guy, though…

– Mitch

Ahh! You’re completely right! Every single time I watch it, I burst out laughing at that part. I’m glad i’m not the only one who thinks it’s halarious… my family doesn’t think it’s funny at all :stuck_out_tongue:

By the way, did anyone really like that part where…[spoil]the little girl is swinging a little rat around and around in her hands[/spoil]? I thought that that was just one of the cutest things I’d ever seen. It looked like it was a fun scene to draw, too. Heheh.

– Mitch

i think that part is animated differently (better) than the rest of the short… i’m not sure, just my opinion…

btw, may someone post the lyrics of the song, please? I’m not english and can’t get all the words, but I WANT to sing it!

Yes! It makes me want to go animate something. Haha 8D
