The Incredibles – Simply one of the best films of all time. It’s exciting, adventurous, and yet the subtle and mundane moments are tackled with perfection. A+ (I reserve the A+ grade for the very, verrrrry best. This probably only applies to a handful of movies. The numerical equivalent is 10/10, while a 9.5/10 is an A. This indicates both flawlessness and cinematic genius in my mind.)
Ratatouille – There are still a few awkward moments in the script, but with every viewing of this film, I grow a greater appreciation for it. The scene when Anton Ego eats the ratatouille never fails to warm my heart. Fantastic filmmaking all around. A
Monsters, Inc. – I love the color palette, the story, the script. I love it all! A
Toy Story – Pure classic. A
Up – I have a hard time putting this in the fifth slot, because it’s so personal for me. Very touching film. I wrote a super long review of it on my blog, if anyone’s interested. A
Toy Story 2 – One of the best sequels out there. It flows from the first film quite nicely. A
Wall-E – Andrew Stanton is one of my favorite Pixar directors. A nice addition to both the animation and sci-fi genres (just kidding about the animation being a genre–it’s a medium!) A
Finding Nemo – Pretty good. Certainly better than most animated films out there. It doesn’t exactly blow me over, however. A-
A Bug’s Life – For some reason, this has always been the most “Disney” of the Pixar films. That doesn’t make it a lesser film, but it’s not quite on the same level as the other Pixar masterpieces. It’s always been a fun watch, though. B+
Cars – One thing about this film that bothered me: every single joke fell flat. I never laughed. Besides that, the whole car/country music thing did not appeal to me one bit. I’m sorry, but no. This is a low point for Pixar (still higher than most movies, though ). B
Not really IncredigirlVIrginia. I;ve noticed that for most of the members here, they either really like TI or not. Some members here have put TI on the top of the list.
(1.) The Incredibles - Yeah, no kidding, right .
(2.) Up
(3.) Toy Story 2
(4.) Toy Story
(5.) Ratatouille
(6.) Monsters, Inc.
(7.) A Bug’s Life
(8.) Finding Nemo
(9.) Cars
(10.) Wall-E
Really, I love all the Pixar movies. I think every piece of work they turn out is great! But there are just some that I like more than others . I can’t say I hate, or even dislike, ANY of their movies. And, note that, in my mind, Monsters Inc., ABL, and Ratatouille, commonly switch places .
10 - Monsters, Inc. - I love this movie very much, but it gets boring at times. B+ 9 - Finding Nemo - LOVED this when it came out, not as good but still great now. B+ 8 - UP - Don’t get me wrong, this movie is amazing, but among other PIXAR films, it didn’t stand out as much as other films to me. A- 7 - Wall-E - GREAT film, and one of my favorites. But IMO there are better PIXAR films. A- 6 - A Bug’s Life - I don’t like how underrated this film is. It deserves more than that. A 5 - Cars - This does NOT deserve to be called Pixar’s worst. I love this movie a lot, and other people should love it more, too. A 4 - The Incredibles - The best superhero movie of last decade, and one of the best movies of the 2000’s. A+ 3 - Ratatouille - Probably the most creative movie I’ve ever seen, with and incredible story and cast of characters to boot. A+ 2 - Toy Story - There is a greatness in this movie that just makes it an instant classic to kids and adults alike. A+
1 - Toy Story 2 - This movie is, what I think, is Pixar’s best. Considering that they only had 9 months to reconstruct this trubled production film, and how great it turned out to be, it proved that Pixar is a total filmmaking BEAST and that they knew how to make great films, as if the two films before it weren’t proof enough. Easily one of the best sequels of al time, and one of my favorite movies ever. If Pixar made Toy story 2 better than the first, I hope that they gan do a great job maing Toy Story 3 better than the second. And by the looks of it, they’re succeeding. A++
Well, thats my opinion on the best of the best from Pixar. [/b]
This was hard. I was unsure on where to put Monsters, Inc.; Ratatouille; Cars; and the Toy Story movies. I also feel kind of bad for putting The Incredibles last. I love all of these movies and I consider every single last one to be a true masterpiece. If I were to rate all of the Pixar movies on a scale of 1 to 10, they would all be 10/10 except for WALL-E, which would be like 1,000,000,000/10, lol!
Okay, so I bought and watched A Bug’s Life yesterday. I really like it!! Really funny, and Flik is so cute. I can’t decide b/t Wall*E and A Bug’s Life, so they’re tied.
I resisted doing this for a long time, because I felt bad about putting anything toward the low end of the list, and because it’s nearly impossible to sort out the “middle” section. So, I’m cheating. And let me say up front, I’ve never met a Pixar film I didn’t like, and this is not an attempt at an objective “What’s the best movie,” but just based on my personal emotional attachments to them.
My Top 4 - (In order as of this moment, but I could easily rearrange 2 through 4):
Up
A Bug’s Life
Ratatouille
Toy Story
My middle 4 (in chronological order, because I really can’t decide on any other order):
Toy Story 2
Monsters Inc
Finding Nemo
The Incredibles
