Yes! Go rent it now!
You must, it will complete you… Seriously though, nice list and nothing is perfect- except for Wall-E.
That’s a chill list ZacB! I like how you rated them. And find a way to watch Wall-E!!! I’m one of those crazy Wall-E fans, and you can tell from my avatar that it’s my favorite Pixar movie!
I have watched some WALL-E clips on YouTube and it looks great, and I think I am getting it for my birthday which is early August (not sure, my mum asked if I wanted anything for definite and I said WALL-E, but my mum can sometimes be quite forgetful ), so I am trying to wait till then to see, if not I will probably try and get some money together for it, I am attempting to get all the Pixar films on DVD, I have 3 so far, so only… 2 thirds to go?
Now that I’ve seen Toy Story 3, here’s my updated version, with some switches.
- Toy Story 3
- Toy Story
- Wall.E
- Monsters Inc
- Up
- Toy Story 2
- The Incredibles
- Ratatouille
- Cars
- Finding Nemo
P.S I haven’t yet seen A Bug’s Life, but plan to.
Forgot about this thread, and now i’ve seen Toy Story 3, and after re-watching a few because they’re just so good , ermmm…
updated list:
11- Finding Nemo
10- Ratatouille
09- The Incredibles
08- Cars
07- A Bug’s Life
06- Toy Story 2
05- Toy Story 3
04- Wall E
03- Monsters Inc
02- Up
01- Toy Story
Find a way to see it! It’s a great movie, as they all are.
OK, revisiting after seeing TS3 and giving this further thought:
-
Up is definitely my #1. I still love this so much, top to bottom, first to last, I have yet to get tired of it.
-
Ratatouille - having seen this again on TV a couple of times recently, I’m just in awe of how clever and funny and charming and wonderfully quotable this is, I think this really deserves my #2 spot.
3, 4 & 5, not necessarily in order:
I still have a lot of sentimental love for A Bug’s Life, and think it’s really sort of underrated. Hopper and the Circus Bugs totally make this for me.
I still have a lot of love for Toy Story, as well - again, so funny and quotable, and I love Sid and the Mutants
TS3 - I really need to see this a few more times before I can rank it fairly, but when it’s good, it’s really really good, and Bonnie and Her Toys really kicked this up the list for me.
6, 7 & 8, again not necessarily in order:
Monsters Inc - Boo made me actually want to take her home, and I’m starting to think Pixar is never going to top the Door Vault for best, most mind-blowing action scene ever.
Finding Nemo - I forget how much I like this until I start watching it. Tons of great supporting characters in Dory, Nigel, Gill, Crush…
The Incredibles - Edna Mode=Sheer Genius, Darling! Like Nemo, I forget how much I like this until I start watching it again. “You sly dog, you got me monologuing!”
And now, feeling much guilt…
9) Toy Story 2 - I really need to watch this again, because it’s shocking how little detail I can remember right now. I know it’s good, it’s just not sticking out to me.
-
Cars has actually grown on me, and I do enjoy it, but I think it suffers a bit from being so detached from the “real world.” Paul Newman’s Doc Hudson is outstanding, though.
-
Wall-E (Still cringing and hiding from the many many Wall-E fans) I admire it, and it certainly deserved all the critical raves it got, but I just didn’t make the gut emotional connection with it that I’ve done with some others.
PShsdfkjekj ;What? How dare you!
Ha, just kidding!
When you have the hard task of putting in order 11 fantastic, wonderful, timeless films, even the bottom one will be great.
When I made my list, Incredibles was on the bottom for the same reason WALL-E is on the bottom for you. It’s a terrific film, but it’s just not as close to me as the other ones are. (Sorry Incredible fans!)
Anyway, great list! I love all of the great fantastic reasons you gave for each movie!
It’s true - there’s no such thing as a bad Pixar film! And I think a lot of how we rank them has to do with our personal emotional reactions and how certain stories or characters “speak” to us. It’s really interesting to see how all our lists vary, and how it seems that nearly every film is a favorite for at least one person.
Like many people here, its hard for me to rank the Pixar films and give reasons without contradicting myself, because I love them all, but after due consideration and watching Toy Story 3 , this is how they stand:
- Toy Story 3
- Toy Story
- Finding Nemo
- The Incredibles
- Ratatouille
- WALL-E
- Up
- Toy Story 2
- Monsters, Inc.
- A Bug’s Life
- Cars
Gah! You too? Anyway, I didn’t get to see Wall-E until a year after it came out, and look at me now. Stands alone as crickets chirp in the background Hope you have a Happy Birthday in August.
Sleep tight! insert pointless demonic laughter here
Thank you I saw this deleted scene with WALL-E saving Eve from a Garbage Airlock, I love them both already
Despite the dozens and dozens of times I’ve tried making this list elsewhere, I always end up unhappy with it. Maybe because I feel like “No, everything needs to be high up! I love them all!”, but obviously something’s gotta end up on bottom… ugh!! I’m sorry Cars, I love you, it just happened this way!
- Up
- Toy Story Trilogy
- WALL•E
- A Bug’s Life
- Monsters, Inc.
- Ratatouille
- Finding Nemo
- The Incredibles
- Cars
Argh, and it doesn’t feel right for The Incredibles to be at #8… Man, I dunno!!
Exactly how I feel.
Okay. I’m going to try with all my might to de-clutter and make my list more…fair.
- Toy Story 2/The Incredibles
2.Up
3.Toy Story
4.Ratatouille
5.Cars
6.Wall-E - Monsters, Inc.
8.A Bug’s Life
9.Finding Nemo
10.Toy Story 3
I couldn’t decide what my least favorite was at first. But I really adore Marlin in FN and TS3 sent shock waves of sadness and disappointment through me, no matter how much I love it(and will more so when I obtain the DVD.)
I’m still slightly surprised by this! Well, it’s understandable anyway. We all got our least favorite I guess…
I’m sorry it’s my least favorite. I really am!! Honestly, it’s kind of hypocritical of me, seeing as how I consider cutting myself whenever I see certain films in other peoples’ last spot. I love them all, though. I love TS3 better as its own movie, not a sequel. Again, I’m reeeally sorry. I was so excited to see it, and I do enjoy it.
It’s fine. It doesn’t feel that Toy Story-ish in some ways, I will admit I had a seriously weird first viewing of Up that almost made me not like it… but it became my favorite just a month or two later.
I always loved Up. I loved Married Life and Stuff We Did so much. Hits me every time.
