Your Pixar Movies Classification

Same here. 2 didn’t have that feeling.

While i still really like cars 2, the first is of course better.

I think they’re both at the same level. Which makes the second one worse, because they should have improved it.

Anyway, I still will enjoy Cars 2 better than the original, simply because they fixed one thing: the huge pacing problems of the first.

What are you’re guys predicions for Brave? Where do you think it will land on you’re spot?

I see it so far between 5 and 3.

I predict Brave will end up in the middle, above WALL-E, and right below toy story 2

I hope Brave makes it in the top 5 on my list. It looks alot different then most of Pixar’s other films.

Sorry to dig this up from a few days ago, I just want to first set straight that I’m not upset or anything or looking to cause conflict. I just felt like pointing that therein lies the problem of why so many Cars 2 fans (and I will admit I am guilty from time to time, such as partially right now) are so overly defensive of the film.

While I agree that it should be perfectly fine to call it an obsession, I still think there’s quite some bit of negative connotation to that kind of characterization. Labeling a enthusiastic group of fans collectively as “obsessive” makes it easier to ignore their viewpoints and arguments, regardless of how much validity and logic they hold. For example it’s easy to just say “oh, it’s those crazy Cars 2 fanatics going off again. They’re obsessed.” And it’s not you specifically but I’ve still noticed it around here in general. Frankly, I myself have been slightly uncomfortable with the atmosphere towards Cars on this website, not only the rampant bashing and hatred toward the film by the more opposed critics, but also the passive ignoring of fellow fans like me whenever we want to voice our general opinions. It’s the reason why, in the past few months, there’s been exodus of the most avid Cars fans away from this website towards more Cars-specific and Cars-friendly forums, such as Wingnut City and Cadillac Range.

I love this place and I love the people here, and leaving is the last thing I would have on my mind. But all I’m trying to say is that it really would be nice for us to be considered as normal humans beings. And I think that part of the reason why Cars 2 fans are so passionate and vocal is because of the hostile environment towards us in the first place. You’re a really cool guy and I’m not ripping on you personally (or anything, for that matter), but why must I be obsessed? Why can’t I just be viewed a normal high school kid with a healthy social life and mental state, who just happened to thoroughly enjoy a certain film because he recognized its particular faults and still found its merits greater, and he is able to defend his position with rational, composed, and non-obsessive debate?

(Again, not that I’m here to only debate or attack, I just merely enjoy the challenge and pride of standing up for my views, particularly when they are in the minority.)

I think you’re going too far when suggesting that Cars 2 fans are not considered “normal human beings”, because I’ve never insinuated that. I think you’re reading “obsession” in the sense of a mental disorder, when I’m simply talking about a healthy but huge fandom. As I’ve said, I have a lot of obsessions too, and I really wouldn’t feel bad if someone distress that fact.

Besides that, I thank you for what I see as a very educated post, and I know you’re not trying to pick a fight or anything. That’s good.

For the record, me and my brother have been very defensive of Cars 2 in this board. We’ve pointed its faults, but we don’t think it deserves the reception it had and I think it’s a huge improvement over the original. I know your post doesn’t say otherwise, but as you haven’t been on the boards for a few months, I think I should point our position on the mater so that you know we aren’t against the film.

I spot an unintentional pun!

I ALWAYS make that typo.

Sorry, guys. I really try, but I wrote a lot more in Spanish, so my hands usually don’t make it to the double t.

I just thought it was funny that you were talking about Cars 2, and one of the problems some people have with it is Mater.

Don’t worry about your typos, because I rarely see you make them. You speak English better than a lot of people I know who grew up here.

I think that’s what was wrong with Cars 2. None of this “Mater being mistaken for a spy.” Especially since all he did was fool around up until the very end.

This is true.

I loved Cars 2, a lot more than the original. I wouldn’t argue that either is a good movie though.

Kind of a little update here.

  1. Toy Story
  2. Toy Story 3
  3. Monsters Inc
  4. Up
  5. Ratatouille
  6. Finding Nemo
  7. Toy Story 2
    8 Wall-E
  8. Cars
  9. The Incredibles
  10. A Bug’s Life
  11. Cars 2

I think Cars is story-wise a better movie than Cars 2, but Cars 2 has better pacing and is more cinematically enjoyable. I think I have a very slight preference for it.

Anyway, might as well while I’m here…

  1. Up
  2. Ratatouille
  3. WALL-E
  4. Monsters, Inc.
  5. Toy Story 2
  6. Toy Story 3
  7. The Incredibles
  8. Toy Story
  9. A Bug’s Life
  10. Finding Nemo
  11. Cars 2
  12. Cars

Man, that was hard. :frowning:

You both have very good lists.

Thanks queen_of_painting!

I think mine has changed quite a bit, so I’ll do it over.

Nice list! I wasn’t really kean on Cars 2, but I respect your opinion.
