Oh, okay. Cool, thanks!!
Yeah, since I’ve only seen 2 minutes of footage of the movie, being a trailer, I see no point of even gussing where on the list it’d fall, that’ll happen after I actually see the movie.
Exactly. But I have a feeling it will crack somewhere in the top 5.
This was a thing I used to do! I have a final in the morning that I don’t feel like preparing for, so enjoy some totally non-scientific stats!
POST CARS 2 PIXARPLANET USERS TOP FILMS
Here were the rules for your list to be counted:
1. You had to have a complete list. All twelve movies, ranked in order.
2. If you had a tie, I flipped a coin
3. I only used the latest version of your list
I used a whole new algorithm to calculate the top winner with a system called Pixel Points, a scale from 0 to 100. Basically, it weights (in descending order) the average rank (1 being highest, 12 being lowest), the amount of times it appears in the top third of lists, and the amount of times it appears in the top half of lists together. I think it came out to something decently accurate and fair considering the different ways you can rank the data!
The format goes like this (note: last calculation I made did not have Up, Cars 2, or Toy Story 3):
1. Title (Pixel Points) (Last calculation’s place)
1. Toy Story 3 (60.93) (new)
2. WALL-E (58.45) (1st)
3. Ratatouille (54.42) (2nd)
4. Up (51.67) (new)
5. The Incredibles (47.07) (3rd)
6. Finding Nemo (42.62) (4th)
7. Toy Story 2 (40.97) (7th)
8. Toy Story (40.10) (6th)
9. Monsters Inc (33.10) (5th)
10. Cars (26.47) (9th)
11. A Bug’s Life (19.60) (8th)
12. Cars 2 (16.69) (new)
The data came from: IncredigirlVirginia, CowgirlJessie, Spongey444, Netbug009, The Star Swordsman, Tow Mater, definedancing, Geoff-uk1234, TOYSTORYFAN321, Violet Nirvana, K9Girl, Pixelated, Grifoshka, Effluvium, Pricklepants, MissCarrera, xCarsLuverx, tribefan695, Wilderness Explorer, queen_of_painting, Chuckles, Pixarfan91, lazerenvy237, Ballboi, Leirin, pixarmilan, and ellie-gessie-eve
INTERESTING STATISTICS
-
Toy Story 3 is extremely popular, with almost 50% putting it in their top 3 (and almost 75% putting it in their top half)!
-
Up and Toy Story 3 have firmly placed themselves among the top movies with Wall-E, Ratatouille, and The Incredibles, while Cars 2 falls in dead last (with 13 people placing it at the bottom of their lists)
-
Monsters, Inc. has taken the biggest fall since I last reported over three years ago. The average rank fell a full 1.5 places.
-
Another interesting swap is Cars and A Bug’s Life. Whereas Cars used to be dead last behind A Bug’s Life, it now enjoys a comfortable lead over Flik’s film. (I blame these newfangled Pixarteers that I’ve heard so much about)[
-
Despite being 2nd to Toy Story 3, Wall-E has the most #1 rankings with 8, followed by Ratatouille and The Incredibles each with 4. Toy Story 3 only has 2, but also has 8 2nd place finishes.
Phew! It’s been a while, hope you find it interesting! (and if anyone cares, my list goes Ratatouille ~ TS3 ~ Finding Nemo ~ Up ~ Wall-E ~ Monsters, Inc ~ TS ~ The Incredibles ~ TS2 ~ Cars ~ A Bug’s Life ~ Cars 2)
Thanks for that!(it must’ve taken you a long time!) Very interseting
Thanks for taking the time to compile that list Pixelated. It’s interesting to see where the films end up when everyones list is combined.
Thank you so much for going and doing this! What interesting finds. I just have taken a Statistics class this semester, so I’m very interested to see how you compiled this data. Also, I like how you called me ellie-gessie-eve. Oops, typo! Any way, much thanks!
Wow, that’s pretty cool, Pixelated! Very informative. I wonder where Brave will place once it comes out…
