Score

Yes, it’s true: I like the Finding Nemo score more than the

Ratatouille one. Go figure. :unamused:

Michael Giacchino is still a fantastic

composer, though. Heck, all of the Pixar music artists are wonderful!

That is really ironic Mitch.

For me, if it is good enough, the Ratatouille score might

sneak itself in to third place.

[size=92]I think the Cars score is

the best. The end. (And not just because it’s my fave Pixar movie; the music played a VERY dramatic part in the

movie and fitted so perfectly.)

I can’t really classify the rest… though I must say the Toy Story score

is really awesome too. And the theme song for ABL is pretty catchy. And Finding Nemo’s music almost makes me

cry. (We were watching Finding Nemo at school today!)[/size]

I do love the Finding Nemo score-

the piano music when Marlin goes up to the surface to try and find the boat that’s got Nemo always gets to me;

it’s so powerful!- and there are some amazing songs in both the Toy Story films, but I’d have to put Monsters,

Inc. as my favourite score. I love jazz, and the score of MI really sets the tone of the whole film. It’s got

that slightly retro feel to it, and I just love it.

As for the other films, well, to be honest, I

couldn’t really list the scores- I’m not too keen on The Incredibles’ score because I’m not into brass, and

although it suits the film really well, I just don’t like the feel of it. The Cars score I don’t know very

well, and the same goes for A Bug’s Life.

So, for me, I guess it’s sort of this order-

Monsters, Inc.
2. Finding Nemo
3. Toy Story
4. Toy Story 2
5. Cars
6. A Bug’s Life
7. The

Incredibles

  1. Toy Story

  2. Finding Nemo

  3. Monsters Inc.

  4. A Bug’s Life

  5. Toy Story 2

  6. The Incredibles

  7. Cars

  8. Ratatouille

  1. The Incredibles*
  2. Ratatouille*
  3. Finding Nemo
  4. Toy Story
  5. A Bug’s Life
  6. Cars
  7. Toy Story 2
  8. Monsters, Inc.
  • Both The Incredibles and Ratatouille I have heard the score by themselves on CD (I’m a huge Giacchino fan), but with the others it’s all based on what I have heard when watching the films.
  1. Ratatouille*
  2. The Incredibles*
  3. Toy Story
  4. Toy Story 2
  5. Monsters, Inc.
  6. Finding Nemo
  7. Cars
  8. A Bug’s Life

There is only a tiny difference between Ratatouille and The Incredibles, and I love them both to bits. I haven’t listened to Ratatouille on CD yet, so I can’t say whether it will be as good as The Incredibles’ score is on its own.

Oh, lists… I love them

  • The Incredibles
  • Finding Nemo
  • Ratatouille
  • Monsters, inc.
  • Cars
  • A bug’s life
  • Toy Story 2
  • Toy Story

I love Randy Newman, not only for the movie scores, and I think its best Pixar score is Monsters, inc., but the other movies (the top 3 in my list) have very complex scores. Special mention for Cars (beautiful country soundtrack). Sorry for Toy Story :stuck_out_tongue:

Remember when I placed the Ratatouille soundtrack in second place on my list? I take it back. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ze List:

  2. Finding Nemo soundtrack
  3. The Incredibles soundtrack
  4. Monsters, Inc. soundtrack

Yep. There ya’ have it…

– Mitch

Funnily enough, I just noticed that my Pixar movies’ score rating, is pretty much my favourite Pixar movies list… Maybe music is a big influence on how I rate a movie.

lol

Hmm. That’s interesting. The score is pretty vital to its film counterpart, when you think about it…

– Mitch

Ratatouille classes second in my list now. I must say, I’ve never left the cinema humming the score from a film before (well, an original score, at least). The Ratatouille score is brilliant, and adds so much atmosphere to the movie.

lizardgirl - Heheh. Were you humming/singing the lyrics to Le Festin, too? Because that’s what I did a couple of times right before the credits rolled onto the screen. Of course, I’m a geek, so I guess I’m probably an oddity here… (snigger)

But yeah, the score itself is quite enticing and intriguing. It really sucks you into the film…

– Mitch

Mitch- It’s actually usually the bit where Remy is taking over the soup- there’s a great build-up there. But Le Festin is wonderful, too; it adds real authenticity to the film.

lizardgirl - Oh yeah, I start bouncing to the tune during that moment, too. It is a wonderful build-up; as he gathers the herbs and spices the tempo just keeps on flourishing until it finally blossoms into a dance of sound and color. You can almost smell the soup… Heheh.

– Mitch

The parts that got me nodding my head were when the score builds up when [spoil]Linguini is ruining the soup[/spoil], and [spoil]during “Wall Rat” when Remy is making his way up to the city[/spoil]. I really like that part.

Yeah. That is a really understated part of the score. I think it is because it was used in the 9-min preview, as well as in the trailer, and TV spots. It wasn’t until I got a really good cinema yesterday with excellent sound that I appreciated how good that part is.
