Academy Awards 2012

Not sure, Don’t pay muxh attention to them except for Worst Picture.

No, they usually do it at the same time as the Oscars.

I don’t really have a high opinion on the Razzies.

Could Cars 2 get nominated in it?

Um…would i dissapoint anyone if i said that i think Arthur Christmas should win Best Animated Feature?

Ok, first of all, NO, im not just saying this because its my favorite film of the year. Second, i think it should win because it was better critically recieved than Rango. Dont get me wrong, Rango was a pretty good movie that was well recieved, but from what I’ve seen from the past award-winners, is that its the movie with the MOST positive reviews that wins. (Don’t believe me? Look at the Rotten Tomatoes pages for the past winners and nominees. The winner always has a higher score.)

In animated, yes, but not in the rest of the categories, which leads me to think it’s simply a coincidence.

After all, the members of the Academy aren’t the same ones as the RT critics, so it can happen that they come to different results.

I wouldn’t mind Aardman winning an Oscar again, though.

Just because that film has the highest rating on RT, doesn’t mean that it’s going to win. It should have some interesting competition to go against though.

I love Aardman and wouldn’t be upset if Arthur Christmas won Best Animated Feature, but I personally think Rango is more interesting and creative than AC. I mean, AC definitely has a different edge when compared to other Christmas films, but at the same time, it’s still terribly predictable in many parts. Rango’s an homage to westerns and yadda yadda yadda, but there were many aspects of it that I haven’t seen in other animated films before, or at least not many. That’s why I think it should win, although again, I’m not really completely rooting for teams here, as everything’s sort of okay compared to past years.

I feel the animated films this year were a bit of a let-down.

So next year, some of the films will be Brave, Dorothy of Oz, Frankenweenie, Rise of the Guardians, Hotel Transylvania, Ice Age: Continental Drift, The Lorax, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, ParaNorman, Pirates!, and Wreck-It Ralph. I’d say I’m looking forward to about half of those and will probably see them in theaters, but I’m not quite sure which films will hit the ball out of the park. Doesn’t look like there are many films with an emphasis on drama, sadly, so it might be an iffy year for the Best Animated Feature in 2013 as well! Maybe I’m looking too far into the future.

The Ice Age and Madagascar ones coming out next year are blatant money-making films, I think Ice Age should’ve quit after the first, same with Madagascar.

I agree. Those film series should of stopped after the first film. The Madagascar series was stretched a tad too thin considering the spinoff of the penguins.

I liked the first Ice Age, we didn’t see has many animated films at the time so it was more new. I never saw the sequels.

The first one was decent.

I won’t say the other two were outrageous, but they weren’t very good either.

I always found it hilarious that the third was my Dad’s favorite animated film, along with Cars 2.

It looks like your dad has a bad taste in animation. 8D Just kidding.

He seems to like that kind of comedy, while I really don’t like it.

Me neither. I tend to take some animated films more seriously then most live-action movies.

Exactly.

Yep. That kind of comedy in live-action films never really appeal to me.

What if The Smurfs gets nominated for Best Animated Picture?
