I guess people here are a lot more sentimental about their toys than I am. Don’t get me wrong, I have a couple of toys that I’ll never get rid of, but I’ve got rid of a lot of toys out of my collection as I’ve grown older, even ones that I’ve played with a lot or have been quite fond of. So I guess I understand why either Andy or Molly has ended up losing or getting rid of Bo.
Forgive me lizardgirl, and others. I don’t mean to sound like some sentimentalist, because I’m truly not.
Some toys are my favorites, and yes, when friends were letting go of stuff that I wanted, I gladly took them in, but I also passed them onto friends who I knew would appreciate them. I’m talking about things I’ve done as an adult. As I mentioned in the “our own Woodys” thread, my favorite toys were and are a pair of fashion dolls that I played with much like how Andy plays with Woody and Bo. I would never let them go, unless I absolutely was forced to do it.
So yeah, I’m a huge sentimentalist, but I do let go of stuff. -Omar
Here’s the only way the [spoil]Bo-sold-at-a-yard-sale[/spoil] thing makes sense to me. When Wheezy is taken to the yard sale in Toy Story 2, it’s by Mom, who grabs toys at random to sell. Since Andy wasn’t the one deciding to sell him, Woody saves Wheezy, and brings him back to the room. If, however, [spoil] Andy did actively sell Bo, RC, Wheezy, and the others[/spoil] the toys may have decided not to send out a rescue unit since [spoil]Andy made a conscience choice to sell them.[/spoil]
My thinking was that Andy only played with Molly’s toys because she was too young to really enjoy them herself. Not to mention Bo wasn’t meant to be played with in the first place. I’d imagine that once Molly got older, Andy didn’t play with them as much, and both spent more time in Molly’s room… that’s where Bo was in TS2. Mrs potatohead might be a rare case of Molly just not caring, so she gets left in his room often. I think Andy is far less likely to play with Bo than Mrs potatohead. the older guys get the more theyir going to get made fun of playing with toys like Bo too often. Potatoheads are more gender neutral.
Whatever happened,to Bo, I think it was Molly or Mom’s choice, not Andy’s.
and even though I like the character, I kinda like the idea of her being broken more than anything. it adds more weight to TS3 to me. I think it would have been cool if Pixar had the guts to actually spell that out for us too, showing her falling off a shelf, maybe already cracked and glued back together years before, but finally reaching the point where its too noticeable, or shattered into a hundred pieces and she gets thrown out…
Is that sick of me? lol
Maybe if Joss Wedon had written TS3 that’s how it’d have gone. haha
I think Andy would never sell off his toys. I mean, he’s always had a soft spot for them. In fact, they’d all probably be in that toy chest still, had it been Andy’s decision. But what still isn’t making sense is how, if they were at a yard sale, why wouldn’t they get rescued again? I mean, it wouldn’t just be Woody, I’m imagining all the toys would help since they felt so strongly about keeping the family together. I guess that’s why it makes more sense that Bo would be broken, since there was a much stronger “family” theme with Toy Story 3, with Ken and Barbie, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, and [spoil]Buzz and Jessie.[/spoil]
EDIT- Just added spoiler tags to a small potential spoiler.

I agree; it must’ve been similar to TS2, in that Mom picked toys to sell at random and the toys attempted a rescue, except it seems they weren’t as successful as in 2.
However, I still hold out hope that Bo may be in the attic. i mean, if she’s porcelain, that’d be pretty expensive, right? They wouldn’t just cast her off as junk & sell her for a couple dollars, right? I’m certainly being a wishful thinker here, but i had a dream last night that [spoil]in a Toy Story Toon (or possibly Toy Story 4 if it ever happens), Andy’s mom might come to Bonnie’s mom with Bo & say something like “oh, I was cleaning out the attic the other day, and i found this old lamp of Molly’s, i thought maybe Bonnie would like it.” And boom, Bo’s reunited with the family. And Woody would be overcome with joy.[/spoil] But I definitely realize that’s highly unlikely to ever happen. I just really wish this isn’t the end of the road for Bo in the series.
Dude, that idea would be brilliant, however, [spoil]Woody made it clear that she wasn’t in the attic. If anything, he was happy that they’d go into the attic instead of being thrown out, but he was especially sad when Bo was brought up, so that means she probably isn’t.[/spoil]

It was fairly easy for Woody to rescue Wheezy at the start of Toy Story 2, because only Andy’s mother had any involvement in him being put up for sale (Andy was away at camp at the time and Molly was still a toddler). And, as TS2 surely demonstrates, she’s not the most perceptive character in the Pixar universe (heck, we get no indication that she was even aware about Woody being stolen). I’m sure that they could quite easily slip Wheezy back into Andy’s bedroom and she’d be none the wiser. I suspect that Andy and Molly, however, would be more likely to notice if a toy they’d put up for sale suddenly reappeared in their bedroom, and be understandably freaked out by it.
I just find the idea of Bo Peep being broken and thrown out unbearably sad, partly because, as the first two films make clear, being broken isn’t necessarily enough to “kill” a toy. Unless she was shattered into lots of tiny little pieces, there’s a chance that she’d still technically be alive, but damaged and spending eternity rotting in some landfill, much as Stinky Pete warned the toys they would do.
why thank you
i just feel like they don’t know every little thing that’s in the attic.[spoil] sure they know some things, as made clear in the opening of 3, but who knows. especially since bo was in molly’s room, [/spoil]barbie might’ve told the toys about bo being taken to be sold, when she was really just placed in the attic. it’s possible.

I’m saddened by her lost. She was a very sympathetic character, sweet and pretty.
But she couldn’t fit in the main storyline. Anyway, they could figure a way to keep her outside of the adventure, in Andy’s house until the other toys’ return.
At the same time that I am also sad, I think thats just it.
The toys that stayed for part 3 if you think about it where the main gang that was a big part of part 2.
I am unhappy about Bo, but that was kind of the point of the film. Loss, and how we can still prosper after. I have had a few (too many) examples in my life, but certainly am super-blessed compared to others. Here’s my take on Bo’s fate. It is too dramtic and scary for Pixar to ever make, but it willbe my canon until I see something official that is different.
My vision of Bo’s loss has her sacrificing herself to save Molly. I see Molly jumping on her bed with her backpack on near an open window. Molly loses here balance and is about to fall out when Bo puts the lamp “shaft” through the backpack strap and hook the badframe with her shepard’s crook. Bo gives Mom the time to get upstairs to help Molly after hearing her screaming, breaking into pieces just as Mom grabs Molly.

[spoil]but Wyood said that everyone else was sold in yard sale . as soon as rex mentions Bo[/spoil]
Yeah, I was watching that scene again and they do in fact make it clear that bo, and such are now with new owners. so I guess my theory about her breaking doesn’t hold. unless she broke after she got a new owner without anyone knowing. but that’s more of a stretch.
i remember him mentioning new owners, but i still hold out hope that she (and maybe others) are in the attic & they don’t know it!
a stretch, i know, but whatever. i love bo too much to say goodbye to her for good. not yet at least.
Yeah, I just saw Toy Story 3. Besides her name being mentioned, I didn’t even notice her absense. I think her being in the film would of showed it down, it would of been unnessesary I think.
Don’t worry everyone: she may be in the Toy Story Toons. Maybe.
that’s my hope, that she’ll be in some toy story toons. after all there’s a whole decade between ts2 and 3 that hasn’t been covered yet.
Anyone else here think they could’ve made it that she ended up with [spoil]Bonnie[/spoil] somehow, and Woody & the gang happened to find her in the closet or something [spoil]at Bonnie’s house after becoming her toys[/spoil]?
I thought about that for a split second while watching it, but there’s no way that would’ve worked. For one thing, [spoil]Andy seemed to have never met her before. Secondly, Any’s mom would’ve recognized her not really being a toy and not donating her to either Bonnie or the daycare, but more of a yard sale item. And also, it’d be way too coincidental.[/spoil]
