DreamWorks Animation announces official 2010-2012 projects

Laughing at all the comments on the Shrek poster…

I can’t wait to see if people will ever get tired of Dreamworks Animation and whether the studio can keep up with the two-movies a year format. Although I wouldn’t want people to get sick of Dreamworks (because I like some of their movies) it still would be an interesting trend to watch.

Folks weren’t smart enough to see through the ploy of Shrek the Third, but I wonder whether we would be any the wiser, or if Fourth would be Dreamworks comeback KFP-style.

I respond to that statement with Terminator 2.

Shrek Forever After? >.> Really?

FounderofAzn: ANd don’t forget probably Toy Story 2, arguably the best animated sequel up to date.

Why does nobody except for me LOVE Shrek The third!? i loved it! I personally wouldn’t mind a fourth Shrek at all!

Well?.. I guess there is at least a few fans for everything.

 Thank you for not reprimanding me!

another one was just announced called “The Defenders”. No date given, all the article says is:

Ha-ha!! “The Kaboom of Doom”. Gosh, that’s so stupid. I think I might see it solely for the title alone.

As for the third installment in the Madagascar series: I’ve been looking forward to that ever since I saw the first sequel. Madagascar is one of the few DreamWorks films that I can actually tolerate.

I think I hate Dreamworks animation. All for the money, quantity over quality.

Well, I guess I’m up for one more adventure to make it a trilogy, Mitch. The Madagascar films are the next best thing to Shrek from Dreamworks, I guess (If we don’t count the earlier 2D traditionally-animated ones).

Me too, Manegirl. I’m just hoping this will be Dreamworks’ redemption after Shrek The Third (as you can tell, I’m not a big fan of it). The first two were great, though. Maybe it’ll be Dreamworks’ best after KFP, since Monsters Vs Aliens was quite mediocre.

Mygames19: ‘The Defenders’ sounds a bit too much like Bruce Willis’ upcoming action flick ‘Surrogates’, if you ask me.

thedriveintheatre - You too, huh? Cool. I’m glad I’m not the only one. I don’t know what the ratio is of those who dislike the Madagascar films and those who enjoy them, but I take it that it’s a 50:50 deal.

To be honest, I appreciate the fact that DreamWorks still has the audacity to insert crude, yet humorous, jokes in their films. One of the reasons why I’m more willing to watch one of their productions over Disney’s stuff these days is because they at least make me laugh. If you’re going to execute a weak plot-line then, by all means, make it funny.

– Mitch

I’ll beg to differ, Mitch. Some of the funniest moments and lines are from more ‘polite’ movies like Ratatouille and Wall-E. I’m a big fan of situational comedy and physical slapstick (Chuck Jones and Tex Avery are like legends to me), and I love Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton movies. It’s the way how different characters react to different situations, and for me, that’s the beauty of the acting. So for example Linguini being controlled by Remy or Wall-E making moves on Eve would elicit big laughs from me.

B.O.T. Which is why I appreciate Madagascar’s zany exaggerated actions that pay homage to the Looney Tunes cartoons. I don’t laugh as much for scatological (toilet humour) or ‘sexy’ jokes, I might either chuckle or be offended by it, so I prefer either witty one-liners or a ‘situational’. And no, they don’t have to be naughty for me to laugh. But people find different things funny, I suppose.

Yeah, I agree with thedriveintheatre. I clearly have a very refined sense of humour ( not) since I really don’t find Dreamworks movies that funny. Like Donkey from Shrek? I don’t laugh at him, but I do want to punch his face. That goes for Shrek himself, too. And Princess Fiona.

Especially with all of those current culture references that are meant to appeal to our sense of humour because it’s ‘what’s happening now’, but to me they just seem really out of place.

i can’t agree more than that…they produced BADDD movie…

Dreamworks (not the animation studios) didn’t do that well either. Just look at Transformers. Great visuals, poor storyline. ‘Nuff said about Dreamworks’ film-making quality.

Well, Dreamworks has chosen its November 2012 release. And, frankly, it’s their attempt at Monsters, Inc.

slashfilm.com/2009/06/19/is- … sters-inc/

And believe it or not there was a recent Casper movie (I saw some of it on TV once) in CGI about Casper going to “Scare School”. Try harder, Dreamworks.

I have to say… what the F!!! I can’t believe this s***! I’m sorry, but this is so ‘Oober’ ridiculous! First ripping off The Incredibles by making stupid Oobermothercrap?! Now Monsters, Inc.? Does Dreamworks have some kind of grudge against Disney/Pixar or something?! God, you guys are such d***s!

That’s so freakin’ stupid of Dreamworks. I hope Pixar sues them so bad Dreamworks will shut down. Adleast everyone will know it will be copying Monsters inc, at it’s time of release with Monsters inc. 2 coming out. :imp:

Yeah. But maybe Dreamworks will decide to not release it. That’s what they did when they heard about Cars 2, because they were planning a film called Route 66.
