Evolution and Creation

I completely agree with that, and everything you said about animals.

Why thanksyou Slyfence.

Thank you for completely ignoring what I was saying for the past week.

“My Book” was rewritten by various priests over the millennium. Their opinions have been added, things they don’t agree with have been removed, etc. The main message and stories are still there, but word for word it may not be accurate. The only things that most likely haven’t changed to much are the Jesus quotes. And, if my GAY BISHOP’S sermon at my conformation is right, Jesus never said anything about homosexuality.

Rac_Rules: I don’t think Jesus said anything against homosexuality, rather in the Bible it was probably Yahweh, the God from the Old Testament who spoke against the homosexuals. And you see, one thing is that not all Christians can agree on how to interpret the bible or what is wrong and what is right. There is so much division among the Christian faith.

I don’t understand how with one God, how he would let such division take place (and I know you will say free will led to it), but why not just clear up the mess and let you all get it right instead of fighting about who is right and who is wrong.

Here is one of my favourite quotes from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy:

This is exasctly about the old testemant. In my opinion the old testemant is usefull in uderstanding God’s love and kindness due to the numerous times that the isrealits rebelled against him. Its also the very first revealed truths that the world recieved. Does it clearly apply today??

Do we have to offer sacrifices to God at a temple today?? No…why don’t we?? Becuase Jesus came and paid for our sins. If we truly believed that the old testemant laws were still required to be obeyed we would have kept the sacrifice laws as well.

Why not just make a “This is what you should interpret from thr bible 2009 revised edition bible”?

Then we’d be absolutely clear on what’s you should read, and what you shoudn’t.

i don’t see what you mean…

From what i get you say that we should make some sort of commentary for the bible. That is what the preachers do…

The bible can’t change unless it is not truth. Since it has never changed in its meaning or description for over 1,900+ years why change it now??

so then we know which bits to interpret and not. Don’t change it, just throw out the bits we don’t need.

what bits don’t we need?? The old testemant is used but the ten commandments are not…We use Jesus’s law which he states in Matthew.

welltheres soem bits we should ignore right?

I know that. That is why I’m saying that we can’t really decide what God wants or has in store.

Which bits??

I don’t see any bits that don’t have meaning with them…

so the bit about killing gays has meaning worth keeping?
surely you could make a revised bible and keep the current bible as an archived edition for posterity?

That’s the one thing I don’t understand about the Bible. There are so many different interpretations, and only one can be correct. So those who want to follow God may believe the wrong interpretation.

many different people have translated the bible into what they want it to say…like Walle above. That passage about killing people if they sin is ignored becuase of my earlier verse. Jesus came and removed that law and set up a new one that doesn’t require perfection like the old one did.

The many interpretations haev come becuase of people wanting to twist the bible into what they wanted…example (sorry if this offends anyone) Catholics…Their origin states that popes and priests are legal. Well the bible does clearly state that such things as priests are not allowed. Mormon’s…they have that new book they added. I have no info about that book but i’m sure if it was God inspired he would have created it before the old cannon was created.

Now nondenominational (that’s me) chruches don’t add but we do interperrut the bible in different ways…we study and debate and dispute what the passages mean. Then when we come upon a solution we make it a correct interperatation.

Hope this helps…

Someone added to my post O_o

i don’t even get that line O_O…

Yes every verse has some type of inportance…some more then others but still important.

well so all of it should be interpreted then?

in a significant way every verse is important if you understand it…therefore taking out any part isn’t the way to go. Becuase all of it is required.

I’m getting confuzzled.
