yes. because the gene diversity is getting less and less.
Well I don’t think they were really superhumans, but maybe like sort of like Jesus in like how they are kind of perfect. And of course differing in the fact that they sin.
If that were then we’d be uber stupid IMO. Because even I wouldn’t have eaten the fruit, because really all the serpent did was say “You won’t die” and other stuff kind of like ooh look how good it is when God already just said not to eat it and you will die, but not drop dead, but you will die.
It’s not bad. God created it as a special thing in marriage; the ultimate act of being one. It’s seen as unclean if it is before marriage. And we reproduce that way because only God can create people from dirt.
That’s why he brought His only Son to earth; to bring salvation from sin.
We’ve got plenty of dirt. and why is it so pleasurable?
WAIT WAIT WAIT!!! I FIGURED IT OUT!!!
Yeah, so let’s say he already knows that they would sin, but then how could they sin against Him if there is nothing to “sin about.”
Like you couldn’t rob a house if there was nothing in it. Even if the owners of the house knew you would rob it. o_O not very realistic I know…
So he knew they would sin, but they haven’t sinned yet, so nothing really happened, and therefore, if God hadn’t put the tree here nothing bad would’ve happened, even if he did know they would sin against him, and God was pretty brave to put the tree there and let death happen, but then again he’s God. XD
that means he wanted death to happen.
It actually has more to do with free will. God gave us free will. And with free will, he gave us a chance of salvation through Jesus. So yes, we may sin, but we also have a chance at redemption. It’s all in our choices.
Lol he wabted death.
i know.
there are 2 billion “christians” in the world. Not all of those (infact a very small number, let’s take the JW number, 144000 for ease) will get into heaven.
according to the aproximate world population clock, there are 6 622 365 199 people on earth. so:
6 622 365 199 - 144 000 = 6 622 221 199
that’s all the people who are going to burn.
IF there even is a heaven or hell, which no one knows for sure. People claim to know, but the scary truth is, no one knows.
Worst comes to worse, we will all just disappear into a black abyss. But I hope that doesn’t happen.
Just because a book says all this is real, doesn’t mean it is. I’m sorry that’s offensive, but … it’s true.
Religion is silly to an emotional adult. Free-will is an illusion. I like ice cream.
so do i.
1 in 45,989. Odds aren’t in your favor, though better then winning the powerball funnily enough. If I were you I’d quit my job and pray til the lord comes home.
Just one thing for me to ask regarding evolution: Yes, the evidence is overwhelming that evolution exists. There is no doubt whatsoever that species do divert and change over time and adapt. BUT while there’s proof that animals do evolve, where’s the proof that that’s how the world began?
The theory of evolution does not hypothesize the origin of life on the planet any more then the theory of gravity does. That’s not it’s purpose. There’s currently no single widely accepted idea on that. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution#Origin_of_life
I wonder if the 144,000 excludes those that are already dead… hmmm.
It’s too much thinking, I think.
Can it really kill people to know that some things may not have answers to them? Not everything can be explained. It’s annoying, I know.
Not knowing leads to the use of the imagination, which is cool. But once people try to make what came out of theirs or someone else’s imagination real, and try to convince others that it’s real … that’s what gets me.
No one knows exactly what happened in the beginning, and we all have to deal with that fact.
I’m beginning to think it’s just part of humanity - to search for a bigger purpose, bigger than their personal life, some spiritual purpose … and we could have one, and we could also not. But what matters is in the here and now; people should stop worrying about where we come from and where we’ll go. Death is inevitable, and you waste life by worrying about stuff you can’t explain.
I’m not saying to stop thinking, I’m just saying … I’ve done it for a while, and there really is no true answer to it all. It’s sometimes nice to ponder, just don’t waste your life doing it.
exactly. I mean, really, if a God wanted us to worship him every day, he’s make it more obvious.
I’ve not read the whole thread because it’s too much. But I’ve seen posts by people who wrote about “believing in evolution”.
Here it is: you can’t believe in evolution. It’s not a religion. Do you believe in nuclear reactions or the planet Jupiter? It’s a simple thing.
Who’d have thought such a deep discussion would arise on a site dedicated to animated films? : )
Now I’m a scientist, I understand evolution, it works, it fits the fossil record, it explains so many problems.
However I’m also a practicing Christian, I attend church and take communion.
Do my religious beliefs and empirical reasoning conflict? Of course not, I’m not so imbalanced that one part of my mind can outweigh the other, I cannot see why other people cannot be like this. Just because you see things differently doesn;t mean you can’t live without fighting.
Interestingly, not sure if this has come up before or not, the Catholic Church has recently accepted the theory of evolution as a verifiable fact.
Both? I think both happened. I believe in something, and I am thankful for what He/She/It did to create it and try to be respectful as much as I can. To me everything seems [b]WAY[/b ]too perfect not to believe, like how light energy can be seen but all other types of light cannot, how perfectly the earth is rotating around the sun to give us the seasons, ext.
I really don’t think there is a Hell. What parent would send their child to ultimate misery for something that can be ultimately forgiven?
Luke, I think your wrong about that. You can’t know anything at all. Have you ever seen evolution? Have you ever went to Antarctica? You can only BELIEVE that they exist.
Jesus was an awesome guy, but he didn’t WANT to die. He (so we believe) NEEDED to. He sweat blood out of the stress from it (an actual biological function).
If the God that I put my faith in really does exist, I’m pretty sure he will try to forgive everyone, so to me it doesn’t matter whether you believe or not, we’ll all be sipping martinis and hanging out with Bob Marley.
