One other thing: How could you live in Eternal happiness if one of your close freind/relatives BURNT?
A113- I believe there were 16 students involved, and two were Christian, one as a guard, and another as a prisoner. The guard wasn’t the most corrupt of them all, but he did partake in the whole ‘prisoners are below us’ thing. The videos of this experiement are incredible, especially afterwards, when you hear the guards talk about their experiences and what happened inside.
Just out of interest, what is your opinion, as a Christian, as to what the meaning of life is? What would the standard Christian answer be?
God created us to love Him, okay, I get that. But isn’t that a bit, well…I don’t know. A bit weird. I mean, perhaps if God was a bit lonely or something, I could see why He might do that. It just makes God seem rather egocentric.
‘Randallism’! I might patent that or something. My life doesn’t revolve around Randall, but he’s almost always in my thoughts. I put that down to being an only child and being brought up in an environment where most people were adults (aside from at school). I guess it depends how much you think about God. If your thoughts are with God every evening, or in your spare time, then I’d say that my, er, ‘belief’ in Randall is at about the same amplitude. He’s just always sort of there.
I’d say I’m between evolution and neither, but if I’m either of those, surely I’m going to, by Christian logic, go to hell and suffer because I’ve never believed in God’s existence?
If they aren’t God’s children, then they’re not really related to you.
What about the millions of people who have never heard the word jesus in their life?
A113 : Are you happy to know that I’ll burn in hell for eternity ?
and BTW, your pets will burn for eternity too, and millions of chinese/african/etc people who don’t know what jesus is.
To love God. Easy as popcorn.
You know, i often think that God was probably lonely. Why else would He want children?
Hey, if you do, i’m gonna sue you. I’m not joking. Remember A113.
I"m really growing right now as a Christian. The enemy’s tempting me more than ever, but i have to keep trusting God to bring me out of it…it’s working.
By the way, brothers and sisters in Christ, please pray for me!
Anyway, that’s actually kinda cool. That you can think so much about Randall that often. Wow.
Well, that’d be predestination, which i don’t believe in. By the way, i’ve never heard of “Christian logic” before. We always use God’s Word.
and your answer to mine and Archibalds posts?
Acts 17:23. People have heard of God before, even if it’s not from His Word. And for the people who don’t know Jesus? That’s why Jesus told us to spread the Good News. But we’re not doing that, so we are in some way reponsible for those lost people.
I think you know the answer to this one.
Uh…that’s not in the Bible.
A113- But I thought it was 42! Haha, just kidding.
See, it’s that personification again. When you think of God, what do you see? Do you see a face? I guess it must be a human type face, because He made us in His image, right? Just wondering.
I hope you don’t mind me asking (and if this is too personal, there’s no need to reply) but what is ‘the enemy’ that’s tempting you?
Yeah. At first I was weirded out by it, but I’m used to it now. He’s a comfort, an inspiration, etc. Though he can be annoying sometimes.
Okay, so by God’s Word, would I go to hell? What is predestination? Is that trying to determine where I’ll end up before I actually go there?
Sorry for all the questions, just being curious.
but, in the bible only horses are in heaven for transport, the animals do not have the mental capacity to fear death.
No problem with being curious.
But I thought it was 42! Haha, just kidding.
I know you’re kidding (lol) but fyi, that’s the answer to life + universe + everything.
When you think of God, what do you see? Do you see a face? I guess it must be a human type face, because He made us in His image, right? Just wondering.
I honestly don’t know what God looks like. He’s a Spirit. I do know that He looks better than His creation, which is extremely difficult to comprehend.
I hope you don’t mind me asking (and if this is too personal, there’s no need to reply) but what is ‘the enemy’ that’s tempting you?
The ruler of Earth: Satan.
Okay, so by God’s Word, would I go to hell? What is predestination? Is that trying to determine where I’ll end up before I actually go there?
Predestination is God having a specific place for people to go. Like:
This person whacked some autistic kid with a shovel in preschool. He’s going to hell when he dies.
This person shared her cookies with her teacher in preschool. She’s going to Heaven when she dies.
That’s what predestination is, in a nutshell, which id on’t believe in. The Bible says that everyone’s home is a huge magnificent mansion of their very own in God’s Kingdom of Heaven, and its construction begins when you accept Jesus.
but, in the bible only horses are in heaven for transport, the animals do not have the mental capacity to fear death.
Where is that in the Bible?
All right. I can clearly see that I don’t have the “mental capacity” to engage in this type of conversation. Henceforth, I’m going to back out.
bawpcwpn - Listen, dude, I’m not a scientist. I’m not the creator of the universe. Do you expect me, a nineteen year old, to converse on the same level as you or other, older, more experienced individuals? I’m doing my best to explain my reasons for believing in what I believe in here, but I’m not surprised that I received a kick in the backside from somebody. It was inevitable.
I stand firm in my beliefs, no matter what you say, and nothing you can say or do will change my mind, so my apologies if I offended you in that aspect. You may have a handful of theories to back you up, but I also have a healthy handful in my pocket too. Keep in mind, however, that I have never been one to effectively engage in such discussions as religion (or politics), and although I have many examples to pour out, I do not know how to convey them in a convincing fashion. Yes, I say this with a heavy heart. I truly wish to explain to you and others why I believe in what I believe in, but it’s hard for me to do so because I’m not a preacher, or a scientist, or any of those things. I’m not an individual of higher authority; I’m still just a kid, so please forgive my “inexperience”.
I speak from personal opinion again, but I find it humorous that some individuals out there want to feel as if they’re the higher authority here… I’ll leave it at that, since people are going to get on my case.
But, by all means, go ahead and attack me because you find fault in me. I’m not afraid of you, and I’m not afraid to state my beliefs, even if I don’t come packaged with a bucket load of quotes and sources and phrases like you. Go ahead. I await to see you be proved wrong.
Gosh, for years, I’ve been so afraid of… standing up to people, because they always hit me in the face no matter how understanding I am. I’m standing up for myself this time, though.
Bottom line: I believe in God. Always have; always will. And there’s nothing you can do about it.
lizardgirl - I suppose that Americans are more religious on some levels, but, as I stated earlier, I’m backing out of this discussion, because I never get anywhere with these things…

Not funny, and not true. The Bible doesn’t say anything about pets. However, it does say that humans are created to rule over the animals. Not that they’ll listen to us; we are basically the stewards of God’s creation on Earth, and we should take care of it.
If animals do have an eternity, then i think they’ll go to Heaven. However, the Bible doesn’t say, so i won’t jump to conclusions.
Bottom line: I believe in God. Always have; always will. And there’s nothing you can do about it.
Praise the LORD!
Edited. I combined both of your posts. – Mitch
Mitch- Fair enough- I empathise completely. It’s difficult to maintain a conversation like this without offending anyone, and well done for standing up to what you believe in.
I might have to leave this conversation, too. It’s been interesting and fascinating learning about other people’s beliefs, as I never get a chance to do so around where I live. I’m just impressed by the levels of maturity demonstrated by most members on these forums.
A113 - At least I’m not alone in this. (heh)
lizardgirl - Yeah. I’ve been pushed and shoved so many times in my life that, quite literally, it’s not funny anymore. Heck, it wasn’t humorous from the beginning. I’ve always been taken advantage of because of my stupid, introverted demeanor, and I’ve been hurt too many times before to want to deal with this again…
Seriously, the main reason I’m backing out of this is because I don’t want to see anyone on here in a negative light, because it’s happened before on several other boards I’ve been on and I… don’t like it. Just because of one little incident, I take it that bawpcwpn sees me differently now, as do I him. It’s ridiculous. shakes head
Thanks for understanding, though. I’m sorry if I sound so… offended at the moment… (sigh)

It wouldn’t be so mature if you left, lizardgirl.
well it’s been a very mature and respectful yet to the point argument and 6 pages in 24 hours is not bad!
