The effects look good. And it has guinea pigs in it. I’m not sure whether I’ll watch it at the theatre or not until I see how you guys liked/disliked it.
A few posters for this have recently gone up in our local cinema, but I’m still really not tempted to see it. It looks sweet but just not my type of thing.
I’ll see it in theaters…i’ve actually enjoyed all the clips that have been coming out lately - they’re really cute. For sure it’s not something I typically watch, but I’m a big fan of the actors in the movie (especially Zach Galifianakis after the Hangover, but also Favreau, Rockwell, and Buscemi) and I DO love Bruckheimer movies - I can’t think of one of his films that I didn’t enjoy, if only purely for the ride.
I’ll go if any of my friends are interested… I’m not sure of the Oz release date, and so far there has been zilch promotional material, so probably they’re not aware of it either. Good thing is that I can wait for the American reviews to come back before I make a decision to see it, with or without my buddies.
I did enjoy the Sam Rockwell and Jon Favreau recording session clip. It’s rare that they would have two voice actors in the same booth to react to each other, so good on Disney for that! The “6 million dollar guinea pig” line also made me laugh. Thanks CocoMeister!
And I absolutely love the taglines they’re coming up with. Puns-a-palooza, baby!
I don’t know guys… it will probably be like all the other live action movies that Disney has been releasing: somewhat interesting, but not very original and with a 40-60% on the Rotton Tomatoes meter.
I guess I’m curious than most about this movie, aside from maybe woody =P, but I do get that most people would want to see reviews about the “talking animal” movie in 3D before deciding to go see it. It’s just one of those movies, I guess?
BTW - there’s a new clip up on Disney’s website - “Weird Science” - that talks about the qualities of guinea pigs and how they can actually be pretty good agents. It’s not that far-fetched eh?
No, but it sure is an easy cash paying opportunity, eh? Just take something from the world of science and make it into a movie. Oh, that’s right; many monster movies do that and ended up in the Sci-Fi channel instead of the big screen.
hehe I am pretty pumped up to see this film, CoCoMeister. Even though I know I said this some where before, I am a huge Jerry Bruckheimer/ POTC fan. This totally seems like something Jerry wouldn’t do, which is most of the reason I can’t wait to see it. I think it’s kinda like Up, why in the world would somebody want to watch a movie about and old man? Why in the world would this big time producer want to make a movie about guinea pigs? I just hope it makes Up numbers…
That’s totally how I feel! I’m just curious to see and to know why Bruckheimer chose now to do a kids movie and to do it in 3D…maybe as a starting point for his future 3D projects?
Well, Up’s b.o. numbers are pretty spectacular, so I wouldn’t necessarily put G-Force up to that standard but I do think it’ll do pretty well…The last couple times I’ve been to the movies and seen the trailer, people have laughed and I honestly believe a movie with guinea pigs as spies with a cast as solid as this will do just fine…so here’s hoping anyway!
It may seem a strange choice that they picked Blaster as the ‘spokesperson’ instead of teamleader Darwin or having each character doing a spot each, but I guess he comes off as the most charismatic here (thanks to the voicework of Tracy Morgan of 30 Rock fame).
The CGI nowadays are freakin’ impressive… kudos to his animators.
Yay! Thanks for posting those. I’ve been seeing tons of promos for the movie on tv and online lately…The song is stuck in my head! (If you think the cast is loaded, they added Nelly Furtado and Flo Rida to the mix w/ a music video, lol)
Anyways, you’re right. The CGI does look pretty impressive - but I actually would expect no less from someone w/ Yeatman’s credentials.
Thanks for the music video link, CoCoMeister! I was expecting something more like Life is a Highway, Go The Distance, Can You Feel the Love Tongiht kinda music videos where they show scenes from the movie in the background, but this felt to me more like an extended TV spot. Still, the beat is incredibly catchy, I must say.
And regarding the cast list, Nicholas Cage is one of my favourite ‘reluctant hero’ actors, so I’m looking forward to his voice acting role in this one (I think his last was Ant Bully). Steve Buscemi, Penelope Cruz and Tracy Morgan are others I’m looking forward to. I’m not familiar with the rest, but I’m sure I’ll check out their other movies/TV shows once I’ve seen this one.
And for those who don’t know, the director Mr Yeatman was VFX supervisor for classic 90s action movies like The Rock, Con Air, Armageddon and Mighty Joe Young (all of which were my childhood favourites). This will be his second directing effort.
Yeah, not your typical music video…the song keeps playing in the background of the website so I’m constantly humming the tune in my head, lol.
Of the cast, I’m most excited about Zach Galifianakis…after The Hangover’ I’ve jumped on the Zach fan bandwagon. I also like Jon Favreau, Sam Rockwell and Tracy Morgan. I’m betting the humor will be pretty good. Even if most of the jokes might be aimed at kids. I bet they’ll sneak a few good ones in there!!
Thanks for posting Yeatman’s work too! He does have a pretty impressive CV…and seems to have worked with Jerry Bruckheimer with success in the past (those movies are also some of my faves). No reason to think this won’t be…at least I hope not!
Well, one more day to go to the U.S. premiere of G-Force. The website has gone through yet another a revamp, this time with a cute intro featuring the characters and the usual showtimes and tickets sidebar. There’s tons more games (I’m playing Team Tactics now, fifth level), wallpapers (I love their dossiers!), videos (with a second MV in a comic-book style format) and spiffy graphics in the Gallery.
I think it looks like a great homage to the spy genre so far, and I’m trying not to be as cynical as some of the folks on IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes (who goes so far as to wish it a “slow and painful death” only to watch the box-office tally rise thanks to the school holiday crowd). If they don’t like it, then don’t support it, but don’t go around dissing the fans (I’m talking about those who drop insults without justification. Everyone’s entitled to an opinion, but that doesn’t mean you can make fun of others’). Go see the darn movie first, even illegally if you must (although I don’t advocate it), then you can whine and moan to me about how you can make a better movie.
This is like Beverly Hills Chihuahua but for 2009, all over again, I guess. I, for one, don’t think it’s particularly intellectual or anything, but I think it’s a heck of a lot better than mean-spirited comedies like Meet the Parents (which I’ve given a few watches, and still hate) or Bride Wars. It’s a feel-good spoof film that the kids might enjoy and spy fans might find something to like about, and you pretty much know the heroes will always win the day in the end.
I may go see it for a matinee or a Cheap Tuesday if there’s nothing on. Otherwise, it’s a Rental if my friends don’t want to accompany me. But other than that, I wish it the best of luck, because the CG artists did some amazing work with those critters, even if the scriptwriters were a bit lazy on their part.
I just love the character poses; gerbil with guns, baby!
Should we start expecting some G-Force Signatures then TDIT?
I will say when I first saw it listed… I thought “What on Earth are DIsney playing at?”
Now looking at the Advertising campaign lately (Between each show and in the ad breaks on Disney Channel and Disney Cinemagic) I might just Beg the girlfriend to take me… Cause We got nothing else to look forward to this summer (No Up! )
Haha, you mean ‘ask’? Unless she wears the pants in the relationship.
Glad you’re a fellow fan. Well, how do I… like, I’m not mad excited about it or anything, but I don’t think it deserves the amount of hate reserved for it either… I’m okay with it, really. The characters are endearing enough, the action is courtesy of Bruckheimer and Yates, and there’s a car chase (I love those), so what’s not to like? If it’s no Disaster Movie or Wild Hogs, then I’m okay. It’s sorta harmless fun at the movies, really.
Oh, you bet! That, and more, actually.
CLUE: You might want to pay a visit to my YT homepage.
No… Its a "I want to see this… Its supposed to have the Alice Trailer with it (Knowing the UK CInemas The Up Trailer also) "
I will admit we both turned our noses up at it… Now I want to see… and I’m positive I can convince her… cause I don’t fancy sitting alone in a Cinema Even ifs its a 3D showing…
Yeah I don’t get the hate either - I prefer that most people stay open-minded and willing to give movies a chance instead of outright bashing it without even seeing the film! (Like Pixar Planet) G-Force is meant to be for fun and for the whole family.AND I think some people will be surprised at how enjoyable it might be. I saw a few reviews already:
