John Carter

I’m suprised at the fact that this movie has a 65% rating on rottentomatoes.com as I type this. I guess it’s because of Andrew being the director. But I’m so excited about this movie after seeing the recent 10 minute clip. The stuff I saw before it didn’t excite me at all.

65? that seems terribly low.

It’s 50% now, with 33% positive reviews from “top critics.” I’m going to go see it in a few minutes. I’ll tell you what I think, and I’ll be brutally honest! But yes, I too am disappointed that Stanton didn’t do a terrific job with this film, and it seems like he’s taking a step backwards, sadly.

I’m going to see it in like an hour! Can’t wait to hear what you think.

I just came back and I’m about to head out to eat, but it was pretty much what I expected given the negative reviews. My expectations were not crushed or exceeded, and it was fairly entertaining, so I suppose that’s not a bad thing. Andrew Stanton is capable of more, I think. I’ll provide a more in-depth review later, if I remember!

Well, I’m glad at least it was fun.

I’ll quote the headline in my paper about it ‘Ridiculous, but fun’.

PROS: Eye candy movie. Lovely costumes and landscapes. Still had humor.

CONS: Very confusing and a bit long.

Maybe it might be less confusing a second time? I don’t know about anyone else, but movies always click better for me the 2nd time.

I haven’t watched the film yet, but I would dare to say the confusing factor is because of the complex universe created in the novels.

There were many races, technologies, rules and whatnot.

Edgar Rice Burroughs is AWESOME!!

Spirit took the words right out of my mouth. That is why. It was mostly the names. It is just such a large story.

For anyone interested, Stephen Colbert interivewed Williem Dafoe from the movie. It’s a good interview, plus Dafoe is such a great actor.

Woah, I didn’t even know he was in that movie. It is even more intriguing now!!

His character is a martian, so you wouldn’t recognize him but for his voice.

Well, most of the British reviews i’ve read have been terrible  .
I was going to go and see it last night but other things came up so I’m going on Monday instead.

Oh. Well, it’s still cool.

Yeah, he was my favorite character in the film.

I’ve liked him ever since I saw Spiderman. Though I’m sure that isn’t a good representation of his ability. 8D

Just saw it. It’s definitely not Stanton at his best but there are enough really great moments in the film to make it worth a look. While most of the action sequences, humor, and Woola are done very well the human element was sorely lacking, which is a shock considering the people involved.

Only worth seeing for the Texas actress who plays a Martian princess with a British accent.

So, I take it you didn’t like it.
