Least Favorite Disney Villains

Same. Sometimes it’s satisfying to know the outcome, because the story couldn’t go any other way.

I’m glad someone agrees with me. 8D I feel crazy, because some people go nuts at the ability to predict.

Anyway, Rescuers isn’t my least favorite Disney by any means. But Medusa is so boring.

I like that film, but not Medusa.

I agree. I enjoy the story and some characters but not her.

It’s pretty obvious that Jafar, Ursula, Scar, etc. are going to end up being the bad guys… it’s not as though Disney’s trying to make them seem like ‘good’ characters before they start to wreak havoc.
My problem with Rourke is that the movie tried to spin it in a way that makes it a sort of shocking surprise that he’s the evil one, but I saw right through it from the beginning.
Even though Scar acts nice to Simba, Jafar to the Sultan, Ursula to Ariel, you can tell they’re one bad egg, but with Rourke he acts genuinely good for the better part of the film and then sets himself up for the ‘big reveal’ when they reach Atlantis… and (for me, at least) it was blazingly obvious that he was the bad guy from the very beginning.

Oh no, sorry. I wasn’t criticizing those villains(or the films). I meant the endings would be obvious. I didn’t mean the villains were supposed to surprise.

I thought Medusa was funny. I love it when she says “Snooooops, what’s wrong???” 8D

Anyone think the villain from Mulan is lame. I think he looks cool but he’s an overall bad villain.

I don’t know. I don’t really pay much attention to him, but I don’t remember learning much about his personality or motives. Maybe they said that, I don’t know.

Mulan is one of my favorite Disney films and I don’t remember his name’ I think it starts with an S.

Shan-Yu: he’s in my list in the OP. And Medusa is one of the best villains for one simple reason: she is one of the few to make it a point to emotionally abuse a character with no remorse. “What makes you think anyone would want a homely little girl like you?”

Shan-yu

  1. Sykes/dobermans from Oliver and Company
  2. Ratcliffe
  3. The Atlantis: The Lost Empire villain(s)
  4. Shan Yu
  5. McLeach
  6. Edgar

That’s it! He’s just pretty boring.

You gotta admit his death is awesome.

Yes, because it marks his last appearance in the film 8D

Kidding. But yes, I find him (and the film in general), highly uninteresting.

Aw, everyone seems to.

I love the movie, but he is uninteresting.

This is going to be hard for me, because everyone who KNOWS me, knows that I love a good villain. I just think that villains in general are awesome. Heck, there are some movies where I just end up rooting for the villain the whole time. But, there are just villains that are just so unlikeable, and such *****-bags that I just can’t stand them. Which brings me to my next point, Disney villains. Now, don’t get me wrong, around 99% of the time, I love Disney villains. Heck, that’s one of the main reasons why I keep watching Disney movies, because the villains are sometimes the best part in the whole movie, and who doesn’t love a good villain?

Now, originally I thought that this was gonna be hard for me, because there are so many villains, but then I realized that I have only see two Disney movies with villains that I don’t like (there might be more, but I haven’t seen most of the movies you guys are mentioning, at least not all the way through) and those movies are… Tarzan and Home on The Range. Now before I get to the villains, I just want to make one thing clear. I haven’t seen either of these movies in YEARS! I don’t even think I’ve seen Home on the Range since I saw it in the theater, despite the fact that I own the DVD. But, I did recently sit down and watched all of Alameda Slim’s scenes in home on The Range, and yeah, I’d be lying if I said that I liked him. I mean, I remember liking him when the film originally came out, but I was like 6 years old at the time, so of course I would like something that featured Talking Cows and a yodel that puts animals into trances. So, yeah, Alameda Slim I just don’t like, because he is just… a jerk. And normally I love villains like that, but here, it was just unneeded.

Now, on to Tarzan. Now, let me just start off by saying that I never really liked Tarzan. I mean, I remember falling asleep all the times after the first time I saw it, and I remember that when the cartoon would always come on on Toon Disney, I would change it to Spongebob or something (although about 2 months ago, at I’m thinking around 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning, I had woke up, and it was on TV. I forget what channel, but I was surprised that it was on, and sat up in bed and watched it. And… I liked it. When it was over, I was like, “Well, that was OK, but why did they put this on instead of Recess, House of Mouse or Buzz Lightyear of Star Command?”). Now, let’s talk about Clayton, similar to Alameda Slim, when I was a kid, I freaking LOVED Clayton. in fact, I remember that when I was a kid, he was the only reason that i would watch the movie. Well, OK, I also watched it for Turk and Tantor, but those were the only things I liked about the film. But after recently watching the movie with my nephew (after spending 6 hours looking for a VCR to watch it on…), I realized that Clayton wasn’t as great as he was when I was a kid. In fact, watching the movie for the first time in years, I HATED him. He’s a jerk, he’s abusive, he’ll do anything to get what he wants (and once again, I usually love villains like that, but again, it’s just unneeded! It’s Disney for crying out loud! You’d think they were trying to make the next Darth Vader or something…), and it gets to the point where you just don’t care about him and you don’t care if he gets what he wants or not. I remember when I was watching it with my nephew, after Clayton had been on screen for a few minutes or so, I got really tired of him really quick, and I leaned over to my nephew, and was like, “You know he’s the villain, right?” and he looked at me like Clayton wasn’t the villain, and that the “REAL” villain was pretty obvious, and he was like, “No, he’s not! The tiger is!” At first I didn’t really understand what he meant, but then I realized that he was talking the cheetah, I don’t know where he got tiger from, but whatever. But, anyway, I actually left the room we were watching the movie in for a while to go play games on Facebook, and I must have gone a while, because a few minutes after I came back, the credits were rolling, and my nephew saw me enter the room, and he was like, “Uncle Cole, you missed the movie!” and I was like, “Oh… you wanna watch it again?” and he looked at me like I was crazy and said, “No way, you silly monkey! I’m gonna go watch Batman!” So when he left the room, I re-winded the movie so that I could see Clayton’s death for the first time in years, and when it happened, I clapped, danced, and watched his death about 10 more times. So, yeah, I was glad when he finally died. Still, I think that Clayton’s death was a little too graphic for a Disney movie, but that’s just me.

I like Clayton for his relative darkness in the Disney canon (which is moderated, anyway), but Alameda Smith is as bland as the rest of the film he appears in.

But I must admit I like Menken’s yodel song, or at least the part he adapts classic pieces.

Most young children I’ve talked to were confused (upon their first viewing) about if Clayton died or not, which I think was pretty brilliant on Disney’s prt.
