Well, i think Disney abandoned 2D animation a couple years ago.
Not as far as I was aware…I’m not sure how recent
films such as Brother Bear, or Atlantis are…Maybe they’re older than I think. I just didn’t think that they
had abandoned it completely.
I think those were about 5-6 years ago.
Actually, it’s a 2-D

I haven’t seen such a heartfelt short such as this in a long time…
2D huh? Well, Disney is very good with 2D. It is a good
match with Pixar.

Swordsman[/b] - Definitely, which is one reason why Lasseter is trying to keep Disney strictly a 2-D
company…so that there won’t be any 3-D competition between Disney and Pixar. Mr. Hill explained it on his site

Uhh - Did Matchgirl even get a theatrical or festival release??? I don’t think so - which means it’s not
eligible for an academy award anyway. =)

I mean…it sucks for “Matchgirl”, but yeah; at least
Lifted now has a chance, like lizardgirl said.

Don’t be so sure – not
every short has its day. But yeah, it will probably win, in any case. I sure hope it does, since
“Matchgirl” is now out of the running…

don’t know if anyone noticed, but Lifted has just been nominated for the Best
Animated Short Film Academy Award. 
By the way, The Little Matchgirl was,
in fact, nominated in the same category. I haven’t really heard of it before, but I decided to bring it up after
realizing that you were already discussing about it.
Lifted Nominated already? but we
haven’t even seen it! Oh my goodness, I hope it wins.
Pixar’s shorts always premiere long before their movies do,
except for the DVD bonus shorts.

also deserves a round in the spotlight, but with Lifted competing against it…there
will be some tough choices to make. Hmm…
If it does win, we will be granted a treat when we
see it in theaters. Since noe of us has seen it yet.
