I saw the two films in bold for the first time this year. I LOVED them both. Goodfellas and Raging Bull are the two films that made me fall in love with Martim Scorsese. I love his use of music and slow motion in his films. I loved the fact that 500 Days of Summer wasn’t your typical romantic movie. I loved the split screen scene towards the end. I thought they were such an adorable couple when things were going good between them. I LOVED the scene in Ikea.
Finished watching True Grit. Excellent, Excellent movie. Anything with the Coen brothers is a success to me. Its probably the best movie I’ve seen since The Social Network last year. I’m giving this movie an A+
Spirit of Adventure and theoutsider1983: I like Over the Hedge a lot, actually. I acknowledge the fact that it’s not moviemaking genius, but I enjoy it.
The Lost Treasure of the Grand Canyon: F: I mean, it was a TV movie, but it still wasn’t entertaining. And cheesy montages at the end of a movie detailing [spoil]someone’s relationship[/spoil] is lame. It stinks.
Season of the Witch: B: This movie wasn’t amazing, but I liked it.
13th Warrior: A: I’ve seen this movie a few times, and I love it more each time. It’s just fantastic, and Antonio Banderas is a surprisingly convincing Arab.
Princess Ka’iulani- This was a beautiful period piece. I enjoyed learning about a more obsure historical figure, but one so beautiful in spirit and important to her people. I’m referring to Victoria Ka’iulani, of the Hawaiian monarchy. I loved the Victorian outfits. However, I was dispointed to hear that this was injected with a lot of fiction. I give it a B-
Zookeeper- I love watching movies that are silly and don’t take themselves seriously. I have to say though, I was very impressed by the animal and actor interactions, major props to the techincal department who was responsible for this. The plot wasn’t original at all, and had corny jokes. But it was a carefree movie, and I liked that. I give it a C+
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II - PURE EPIC AMAZINGNESS. A beautiful end to the series, it was like I’d picture it. It managed to put a few laughs in as well, and of course tears. I give it an A.
Pinocchio- A
My mom picked this up from the flea market Saturday, and I watched it last night. It was good! I remembered all the songs, since we used to have all those Disney Sing-Along tapes when I was little. But the whole movie was really wonderful. And now it’s in the living room with the rest of our Disney VHSs!
I’ve been adamant about the fact that I love the images I create in my head when I read the Harry Potter books. And thats the reason why I don’t want to see the movies. But after hearing and reading so much good stuff about the final film, I’m tempted to watch them. I’ve also been avoid looking at the Harry Potter theme park, and I really want to see what it looks like.
I watched these two movies last night.
My Left Foot It was such a good movie. I loved everybody in it and every minute of it. But it was so hard for me to watch because for some reason I could feel some of Christy’s struggles. It was as if I was bound by something physically while watch the film to get a feeling of what it felt like to be him. I was very tense. It may sound weird, but it’s true. At the beginning of the movie, when he looks at the camera after he puts the record on with his foot, it kind of scared me, and stayed with me for the rest of the night.
The Blind Side It was predictable, but I enjoyed it. I don’t get the hoopla it recieved. And how in the world did Sandra get a Oscar for this movie?! It’s not that I didn’t enjoy her in it, but an Oscar…really?!
