IV: Yeah, I’m gonna give it another chance next time. Hopefully.
Bryko: Great to hear you enjoyed Apes! I actually connected to it more than Super 8 (because I’m an animal lover and for someone who doesn’t live in America, I couldn’t connect to the retro-Americana things much), but both are pretty much the best emotional-hard-hitting live-action movies of the year. I also enjoyed the climax because of all the war strategies they use (flanking the enemy, using improvised cover, bait-and-switch tactics, etc.), so my friend and I got a huge kick out of it. But yeah, Apes… you guys should like, really see it. Better than I expected, and my friend was like “I told you it would be good!” and I was like “Yeah, okay… I’m a convert.”
I forgot to put Pulp Ficton on myt list of great films. I want that wallet that Sammuel L Jackson has! Also Planes, Trains and automobiles belongs on my list as does seven, cool hand luke, the color purple , and lost in translation.
The best use of trailer music and editing since the Fast Five trailers. Coincidentally, they both feature tough-talking guys, booty shots of women, cars, shootouts, fistfights and exotic locations.
Here’s the trailer music - a remix of a rock classic in orchestral form.
Harry Potter and the order of Phoenix: 3 stars. It is a good solid movie and plenty of action But it isn’t as good as the first four and it drags on.
Ranking the Harry Potter films I have seen
Harry Potter and the soccer’s stone: 3 1/2 stars
Harry Potter and the chamer of secrets: 3 stars
Harry Potter and the prisoner of azkaban: 3 1/2 stars
Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire: 3 1/2 stars
Harry Potter and the order of Phoenix: 3 stars
I’ve seen all the movies in bold for the first time this year and I loved them! And the scene between Steve Martins character and the really happy car rental employee in PTaA is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in a movie. I was laughing until I couldn’t breath. I have lost in translation in my Netflix queue. I’m looking forward to watching it. There’s so many movies and so little time to watch them. I have over 400 movies in my Netflix queue.
I’m trying! But between work (most times 10 hours a day), trying to teach myself to draw better and eventually learning to animate, reading (I got stacks of books in my closet to get to) and the movies I have on DVD and Blu-ray I need to get to, it’s hard to catch up. Especially when Netflix is always recommending movies to me that I’m interested in. So I’ll watch three movies, remove them from my queue, and replace them with other movies. Especially indie movies. I’ve gotten really into them since I’ve gotten Netflix Streaming.
That’s one of the films in my Netflix queue. I’ve been wanting to see this movie for a long time.
I’m kind of like that too, with my DVR! And that’s good that you’re spending most of your time bettering yourself through art and books.
Soul Surfer: I loved the book, and I loved the movie! It was a bit cheesy, but I like how it was based on a true story. I especially liked seeing the actual Bethany Hamilton surf in the end credits. I recomend for everyone.
Orgazmo: What happens when the creators of South Park write, direct, and star in a movie about a Mormon who ends up as an actor in adult films? Pure hilarity! I recommend it for anyone who’s old enough to see rated R movies.
I forgot about my DVR! It’s currently 76% full. Most of that space belongs to the 90 something episodes of The Wonder Years I have to get to. I recorded all of the episodes off The Hub. It’s one of my all time favorite shows.
On Tuesday night I managed to catch a film on ITV 4 called Eden Lake. Really sick and brutal thriller about a gang of murderous hoodlums terrorising a couple on holiday. I stuggled to sleep that night. It was too disturbing and the ending was a bit unsatisfying. Works well as a survival horror though.
