Movies - both new and old

It’s pretty good.

Hugo: I wasn’t really expecting much from this movie at first. It just seemed like a lame holiday family movie, but the ridiculously positive reviews encouraged me to see it. Definitely one of the best movies of the year. Although the first act falls a little flat with its seemingly flat characters, when the bigger picture becomes apparent it definitely picks up. The story is touching in subtle ways for anyone who likes movies. The cinematography is strong and the 3D actually aids the storytelling in some creative ways. The only seriously weak part of the movie is probably the station inspector, who’s just kind of a weird, inconsistent character.

This movie covers similar thematic territory as The Artist, but Hugo has a level of figurative magic that The Artist doesn’t. So overall I’m hoping that Hugo takes the Best Picture prize. I highly recommend it, and you should definitely try to see it theatrically in 3D before it’s too late.

Don’t watch the trailer by the way. The less you know about the movie going in, the better.

2011 was a year full of love letters to classic cinema.

Hugo, Super 8, The Artist, Drive, and even Tintin were all homages to magnificent masterpieces of the past, each on its own style.

The year has been trashed by some, but I hope it passes to History of Cinema as the beginning of the road to try to relive a little of that glorious past.

I still need to see Hugo.

That’s one I need to catch also.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Hugo, Bryko. I also agree with you on every point you made.

I loved Hugo very much, but it was a topic that was too personal to me, so that helped a lot.

That’s what I figured. I think for anyone interested in moviemaking and the history of the art in general though it’s a very touching film.

Samesies. The DVD comes out next Tuesday, by the way! I’ll be watching my blu-ray then, probably.

I want to see Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb. Because I am a Peter Sellers Fan, and also I’ve heard that it is a fantastic film.

Chances are that the film will make you laugh… and think.

I’ll keep that in mind^^, I had someone tell me a very similar thing to that when discussing the film.

Oh God, I love that film. You will probably like it.

I’ll say what I think about it when I watch it.

Anyone here like Babe? The movie abour the pig. I haven’t seen it in a while and kinda do again.

My mum hates that movie. Because when she was pregnant with Milan, my other brother always watched that movie and she always feels like she was then.

I haven’t seen it since I was a lot younger, but I think it was very good.

It was even nominated as Best Picture, an incredible feat for a film about talking animals.

I think I use to have it on VHS. Was probably given away years ago.

I haven’t seen in such a long time. I don’t remember anything about it if I’m honest, I think I was 3 the last time I saw it.

I only saw that one time, when I was hospitalized. As you can imagine, I can’t remember it.
