I really loved My Week With Marilyn, a lot more than I thought I would.
Like always in biographical films, a big issue is the likeness with the real persons. Both Branagh and Williams made a great work performing the legends Lawrence Olivier and Marilyn Monroe, and even looked like them from certain angles, tough the illusion was lost from time to time, specially with Williams.
But probably the worst offender was Julia Ormond as Vivien Leigh. How could you portray such a well-know face and don’t even have Leigh’s famous mesmerizing green eyes?
Anyway, I’m adding this to the list of this year’s films that pleasantly evoke the glorious days of cinema.
Anybody here love Titanic?
I love it. It is one of my two favourite movies. The other one is Ratatouille. And I am in love with Leonardo DiCaprio and he is so cute in that movie, I just want to hug him.
^Hunchback is definitely one of the best childhood movies to revisit. So many subtle, mature touches to it that flew way past our heads when we were younger…
It’s a pity that something like that would never, ever make its way into a ‘kids’ movie these days. They were what makes the film that much more enjoyable to watch when you revisit it years later!
I think it’s good. It’s not a film I would watch over and over again. But I like it. It’s only two mounths till the 100 anniversary of the siking you know.
^Ooh, you’re right! I remember going to this big Titanic exhibit with a lot of parts from the ship and silverware and everything left over and discovered. It was freaky.
