Movies - both new and old

So what, they will be making $$$ from the tickets. Of course. But it IS creating talk and (somewhat) educating people about what happened. Besides the two main characters being fictional, Titanic is a pretty accurate movie. Compare it to other history movies, and this one is one of the most faithful to the actual situation.

As Spirit said, people are just whining about it too much. Money is being made, but just keep in mind how this movie does inform/remind people of the human tragedy of the event, and as Spirit pointed out how tragedy inspires art.

I don’t really see how people are offended. Can we please stop complaining about 3D for the sake of it? How is it even affecting you.

All I’m saying is that I don’t like how they keep bringing back older movies that have been out for awhile into the theaters in 3D instead of making new, original movies with a 3D option.

I can understand that(although I am loving these Disney 3-D rereleases) but some people just hate 3D for some reason(usually people who have never even tried.)

I don’t like 3D because I don’t see what’s so amazing about images look like their coming out of the screen. The movie can be just as good in 2D so why spend an extra three dollars for something I can enjoy for less? That money would add up later on and I could spend it one something that’s more worth it. If you like #D, that’s fine. But to me, it’s a waste.

I agree. I’m sorry, but 3D to me just seems like an overused gimmick. It really doesn’t look much different than 2D aside from things looking like they’re slightly coming out of the screen, or making the image darker when you’re forced to put the glasses on. I’d just stick with 2D. I can understand the appeal of 3D though.

The Hunger Games This movie didn’t do to much for me other than make me want to read the book. I wanted to know more about what was going on in the minds of Katniss, her little sister and Peeta before they made certain decisions and after. I also wanted to know more about Katniss when she was poor. I’m assuming the book would give me what I want. I started getting a little bored half way through the part when Katniss and Peetas competed in the Hunger Games. I couldn’t get emotionally invested in any of the characters, and Panem looked to clean to me. I don’t think the world looked appropriate for what went on in it. But on the plus side I thought the acting was great. I had way more fun watching John Carter.

3D is a fad. Since the 50s it has been coming and going, But 2D has been here since the late 1800s and hasen’t left. I don’t need as many films in 3D anymore so I think it’s starting to die. But it will be back in about 6 years after it does. I like to save my money. I dee that as a much better idea. The 3 dollars will add up over time and I’ll be happy I didn’t see much 3D.

I don’t think 3D is going anywhere. In the past it came and went from movie theaters. But these days we’ve got 3d tvs and James Cameron. There probably won’t be as many 3d movies releases like there’s been over the past couple of years, but I think it’s here to stay. And also its still doing well overseas. I’ve seen a lot of 3d films over the past three or four years, but there’s only three that made me wish I could watch them in 3d when I bought them on home video. Those three are How to Train Your Dragon, Avatar and Puss in Boots.

Those are great choices!! All 3 look incredible on blu-ray.

I’m kind of sick of 3D, like almost everyone I know.

For me, it depends on the film.

I saw Hugo in 3D and I have it on DVD. There were a lot of scenes that I felt the 3D enhanced.

I saw The Lorax in 3D and regular. I personally didn’t notice TOO much of a difference. 3D didn’t enhance my enjoyment of it.

So it depends on the film. If you asked me “Should I see Hugo in 3D”, I’d say “Yes! Defintely!”. But other films like The Lorax, I’d say it’s not worth the extra money to see it in 3D.

Definitely. It’s applied to certain films far more immersively than others.
It also depends a bit on the actual cinematography and scope of the movie visually, naturally I thought Up was a lot more interesting in 3-D than Toy Story 3 for instance.

If I had to choose the best use of 3D I’ve seen so far, I’d probably say:

For live action, Hugo.

For animation, The Adventures of Tintin.

Interesting choices!! Personally I think it’s sort of fun to see them in 3D. Is it a waste of money? Well, that depends on who you ask. I personally think it’s worth it.

As filmmaker, we and our circle have a different appreciation of 3D. We don’t wan’t “things coming out of the screen” as another poster said.

We like it when it’s properly used to enhance the perspective and profundity of the shots. Films like Hugo make us think 3D has something to offer the future of filmmaking.

I understand.

I just don’t wanna spend 3 dollars on something I can enjoy just as much in 2D. I know saving that money is a smart idea. If you guys wanna watch 3D you can, it’s your money. But I wanna soend it on bigger and better things.

Yes, I think we get the idea 8D

I may hate 3D, but my mom dosen’t like to go watch movies at a theater. She think’s it’s boring. Me, my dad and my brothers do though.
