^I like both of those movies.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame - I haven’t seen this movie in years. I forgot how amazing it was! I really enjoyed it. I also forgot how much humor it had.

I love that film! I think it deserves more attention. Too bad it suffered from executive meddling.
The Lorax - I didn’t like this. It was sort of obnoxious and I didn’t like the songs. What I did like about it were the visuals, though. C+
Notorious - Not bad, but it didn’t make much of an impression on me. The two stars’ relationship could have been developed more, but then again in the context of the time the film was made, things were kind of different. B+
Bridge to Terabithia - My second time watching this. I almost forgot how wonderful this movie is. I think I initially overlooked the performances of the two leads, because they’re understated but quite good! I also love the story itself and the themes of imagination, growing up, and experiencing something traumatic during adolescence; that stuff is right up my alley. A-
Babe - Haven’t seen this in ages, so it’s almost like seeing it for the first time. James Cromwell and the screenplay are the obvious highlights. B
Casino - (Did I just go from the previous movie to this one? Yes, yes I did.) I enjoyed this film. It’s not a masterpiece, and a lot of it is just recycled from previous Scorsese films, but nevertheless it’s a good film. I didn’t even notice the length when I was watching it, surprisingly. A-
Quiz Show - This was a really interesting film! I remember reading about it in a book about trivia. B+
I want to give The Lorax a chance soon.
Aw ![]()
What do you mean by that?
I just talked about Babe and then went on to Casino. Kind of a funny contrast, no?
And I don’t know, I seem to have strange opinions about Hitchcock films. Some of the obvious ones I love, such as Psycho and Rear Window, but others I’m not head-over-heels for, such as The Birds, North by Northwest, and Vertigo. I also rather enjoy Rope, The Lady Vanishes, Strangers on a Train, and even Lifeboat.
We usually have similar opinions on film, but this time I have to disagree. Hitchcock is the man!
In fact, the three ones you mentioned as not being of your liking, are among my favourites.
I think the three I don’t love seem to be everyone’s favorites. I don’t dislike any of his films that I’ve seen so far (out of maybe a dozen?), but there are some I’m just not as drawn to as others. But that said, I place his films so highly that, in that context, all of his films are great. He’s one of my favorite directors. I guess I tend to prefer his films which are more like plays, if that makes sense.
I finally get to see TinTin tommorrow.
Awesome^^, one of my favorite films from last year.
I haven’t seen all of them. I LOVE North by Northwest! [spoil]Especially Leonard[/spoil] It’s one of my favorite movies ever.
Of Hitchcock, I also like Rear Window.
I didn’t really like The Birds too much.
My next two reviews are Kung Fu Panda 2 and a recent Disney film.
Has anybody here seen Dark Shadows? I’ve been thinking about seeing it.
Kung Fu Panda 2: I really enjoyed it. It’s really one of those sequels that lives up to the original in terms of quality. This film has some great fighting scenes, much like it’s predecessor. Those scenes are a great mix of true action-adventure and some cartoon violence. It was great seeing some of the 2D animated scenes with Po flashing back to what happened to his parents. As someone who wants to see the animation medium return to classic 2D animated films, it was still quite a treat to see it. Also, the movie ends on a great cliffhanger on what we could expect from a Kung Fu Panda 3 (if it happens). The only downside I have here is that it is somewhat predictable. Even before you watch the film you know that Po is going to defeat Lord Shen and save the day. Heck, even in the first 5 minutes you can tell how Po is going to defeat him. But that is just a minor gripe. All in all, it exceeds my expectations and I would be open to see a Kung Fu Panda 3 down the road. A-
The Time Traveler’s Wife: I thought it was great. It had a very interesting stories and alot of emotional scenes that were handled very well. I definitely recommend it.8.5-9.0/10
Xanadu: This is a really corny and kitschy movie but not even quite as much as people make it sound like. And personally, I don’t mind that. The songs were all great (it helps that I love ELO and grew up listening to Olivia) and I thought the whole movie was charming and entertaining, which is what really counts in a musical. It doesn’t take itself too seriously. There are some little things I would’ve changed and certain scenes go on longer than I think they need to, but overall, if rating by my enjoyment, I’d give it a solid B. I liked it ![]()
Plus, Gene Kelly was awesome in it.
Edit: Also, WALL-E fans, Hello Dolly is temporarily available for instant streaming if you have a Netflix account until the 31st!
<3
Captain America: So many plot holes. There were funny moments, I wasn’t too crazy on the action moments, and it was occasionaly corner. But I loved how attractive Chris Evans was in it! ![]()
Adventures of TinTin: I’m not even going to start on this, because I’ll never finish. The one word I can use to describe it I can’t use here, it’s inappropriate. But I adored it, SO much. Such a great film.
People keep saying that when they finally watch it, but nobody wanted to believe us and do it back when it was playing on theatres ![]()
The film wasn’t a hit in the box office, and it deserved to be. People didn’t want to give it a chance, and when they do now, they usually pleasantly surprised.
It wasn’t really a hit here since the character isn’t really well-known. It was also taken out by competition.
I don’t know why people won’t see an unknown character.
A lot of films even from original material have been box office hits.
I think the picture’s bane was the prejudice against stop-motion.
